Cut Above™ Thank You Card Kit Variations

Hi folks,

Just thought I would pop in to share a set of cards I made using the Cut Above™ Thank You Card Kit from Close To My Heart.

Here's a shot of the suggested card design and the contents of the card kit.

Of course, I like to play around with the kits, making my cards a little different. Sometimes I throw in a few extra bits and pieces.

Anyways, here are the cards that I came up with using the kit, an extra half sheet of black card stock and some black enamel stars.

This first card sticks fairly close to the original design - with the addition of some of those black enamel stars.

And here I went with a different orientation and scattering my stars about. I may have gotten a little carried away with the stars.

And then I started making birthday cards....

Added a little pop with some additional black card stock (and those stars!)

Here I decided to flip over the banner piece and use the plain side for something a little different.

Love this hostess rewards set! The derby, the glasses, the 'stache.

With Father's Day coming up, I thought it might be nice to make a couple of Dad's day cards.

One for a Dad....

And one for a brother.

Or they could be used for birthday cards as well, it's just a matter of the sentiment stamped or written on the inside.

50 Rocks!

Hi folks,

Well it looks like my promise to myself to get into the craft room and stay on top of the card making has fallen by the wayside as I see the last time I posted a card was three weeks ago! I think a big stumbling block was the disaster area into which my craft room had transformed. It's usually pretty messy but I think I reached critical mass.

I did spend some time tidying up in there this week so that I could get my head into making this card that I had in mind for dearly beloved for his birthday.

I had to use this image on his card as his birthday present this year was a new guitar, though his was an electric not an acoustic like this one.

card details:

  • finished size: 6x6 inches, CTMH Black card stock base
  • patterned paper: Echo Park Paper Co Reflections Fall
  • stamped image: The Greeting Farm "Guitar Ian" coloured with copic markers (E000, E00, E01, E11, E50, YR31, YR21, Y23, YR24, E35, E23, E25, YR20, B91, B93, B95, W5, W6, W7, E06, E07)
  • sentiment: I used my Mason Row stackable inter-locking typewriter alphabet.
  • Spellbinders Petite Ovals

A reminder of just how old I am

Hi folks,

Just thought I would share the card I made for my baby brother. We share a birthday month (March). His birthday is at the beginning of the month and mine is at the end. So, every year, I get a reminder 4 weeks before MY birthday that I am soon going to be another year older - thanks to my little brother celebrating HIS birthday a few weeks before me.

Well, this year, he has a milestone birthday so I get to point that out to him on his card.

Of course, I am the OLDER sister so I'm allowed to comment on his aging <grin>. I'm sure he will chuckle when he gets this card.

For Valentine's Day

Hi folks,

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Now that Valentine's Day has come and gone, I can share this year's projects.

Up first are a few Valentine's Day Treat Bags that I sent off with my dearly beloved on Friday night to his D&D group.

I had forgotten that I had ordered them from Close To My Heart and when I finally opened my most recent box of goodies I figured I had better put them to use. The one in front was for dearly beloved - the rest went to his pals. He was a REAL sweetie and also picked up flowers for their DM when he got mine on his way to their evening of fun. She's the only woman in their little nerd herd.

Since I didn't use the mushy, lovey dovey stickers from the treat bag kit on the kisses I put in the treat bags for his friends, I put them on the kisses in the jar on the left below for my sweetie. He also likes jujubes so I had picked up some of those as well and decorated a second jar.

I do a LOT of canning so there are always empty jars in the basement and these were a quick little project to fill and decorate. I used papers from the Heartstrings Paper Pack from Close To My Heart.

And finally, the card I made for my sweetie.

I thought about using one of my punny stamps from Unity (I have quite a few that I have not used yet) but I wanted to stick with my tradition of making a CAS card with a bit of elegance. I quite like how this one turned out. Red, black and a bit of bling.

For a 5th Birthday Celebration

Hi there crafty peeps,

Just popping in to share the card I made for dearly beloved's niece's 5th birthday. Her birthday is in a couple of days but her birthday party was yesterday. Lots of little kiddos and lots of yummy treats for young and old alike.

I must say, it was a real treat for me to sit down and colour this cute little image from "The Greeting Farm". It seems like forever since I did any colouring (it HAS been a while) and pairing this image with these bright, cheerful papers from the CTMH Hopscotch collection seemed like just the right combo in the middle of a dreary Canadian February.

Another batch of Sunshine Cards

Hi folks,

I'm back to share to the last of the cards I made with the Close To My Heart "Just Because" kit for my T.O.P.S. group. I think our Sunshine Girl will be pleased with these.

I keep them fairly CAS without bulky embellishments since they are usually posted instead of hand-delivered. But I couldn't help adding a little bit of bling. After all, doesn't a little bling cheer up pretty much everybody?

card details:

  • finished size:4.25 x 5.5 inches, colonial white card bases
  • patterned paper: Close To My Heart "Just Because" card kit
  • stamps: Close To My Heart "Just Because" (D1327), "For Every Occasion" (D1187)
  • embellishments: gems from the kit

More Sunshine Cards!

Hi folks,

Just thought I would share a few more of the cards I made a few weeks ago for my T.O.P.S. group for our "Sunshine Girl" to send out to members who are ailing or in need of a pick me up.

I decided to make use of an old card making kit from Close To My Heart that has been taking up space in my craft room.

Anyone else remember these kits?

Anyways, here are the first few cards I made with the kit. I whipped these together in just 45 minutes after work before heading to my weekly meeting.

  • patterned paper: Close To My Heart "Just Because" card kit
