Dream Big

Hi folks,

Back today to share another of my recent creations that came about because I wanted to play with my new Shinhan Touch Twin Markers from Close To My Heart.

Tee hee. This card makes me smile. I think the combination of the tiny, wee elephant and the Dream Big sentiment is just ... well, perfect!!!

And here's another shot to show how I popped up the bits and pieces of the wee guy, for a little added dimension. Isn't he a cutie?

So did you sing that in a little sing-song voice? I can't help myself. I did.

I realized tonight that I have a few cards waiting in the wings that I have not yet shared here on the blog-arooni. So I'm here to remedy that over the next few days.

Up first is this little birdie card that I made so I could try out the new Shinhan Touch Twin markers from Close to My Heart.

You're the TOPS

Hi folks,

Just thought I would pop in to share a little project I had in mind for some time and finally got around to making.

I'm a member of the weight-loss support group T.O.P.S. and I thought it would be a nice idea to make a mini goal book for everyone in the chapter. A little something to write down a new, small, attainable goal each week to help keep everyone motivate on their weight loss journey. Many members in our chapter have been struggling lately, myself included, so I thought something that working towards smaller goals might help some folks out.

I actually reached my goal weight almost two years ago and had it easy for the first year keeping the weight off. But since the start of this year I have been struggling to stay within my leeway range, particularly since I started training seriously for the half marathons I'll be running in the fall! You would think that all that serious running would make it easy to keep the weight off - not so!! Realistically, I feel great and I'm not that concerned about the weight gain, but still, I'd rather see the numbers creeping down instead of up!

Anyways, back to the project.

I started with a pile of mini composition notebooks.

I raided my stash of Close to My Heart papers and came across this pack of "Caboodle" - it was perfect for covering the books.

I cut out an assortment of different papers for the covers.

First I covered the spines. A strip of one inch double sided tape on the back of the papers I chose for the spine keeps the paper firmly in place.

And then I covered the fronts with the other papers. The medallions on the front were cut with my Cricut using the Cricut Artiste cartridge from Close to My Heart. The image and sentiment were then stamped in coordinating inks.

When I saw this "Big Top" stamp set from Close To My Heart, I knew I had to have it just for this specific project.

Anyways, that's it for me today. I'm busy in the kitchen so my long slow run that I should be doing today might get post-poned - or done in pieces indoors on the treadmill instead of outside. I bought two bushels of tomatoes yesterday and they need to be processed and canned. What was I thinking? Especially since I also bought 20 lbs of blueberries to make into jam.

project details:

  • mini composition notebooks
  • patterned paper: Close To My Heart "Caboodle" (retired)
  • stamps: CTMH "Big Top" (C1580) stamped in CTMH Sweet Leaf, Heavenly Blue, Sorbet
  • Cricut Cartridge: CTMH Artiste

Getting Scrappy

Hi folks,

After making the four cards with the Mojo Monday sketch a little while ago, I found myself looking at the pile of scraps sitting on my desk and decided to make a few more cards for my stash.

Some that would be easy to mail (flat) and a couple with some paper flowers that will need to be gifted in person.

card details:
  • finished sizes: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, 5.5 x 5.5 inches, black card stock bases
  • patterned papers: Authentique "Gathering"
  • stamps: Verve

Freshly Made Magical Birthday

Hi folks,

The youngest daughter of dear friends of ours had a birthday recently and I made this card to celebrate. I was finally able to give it to her last night so now I can post it!

I HAD to use this image because the hair style on the little Bean looks just like her hair!
