Mojo Monday - Thanksgiving

Hi folks,

I sat down today and  made this card for my dearly beloved for Thanksgiving. I totally broke with tradition and cooked turkey on the Sunday instead of Monday which is REALLY Thanksgiving.

The sketch is this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.

The papers are Basic Grey Indian Summer. The leaves are Cuttlebugged from three different papers from the pad to coordinate with the base panel and then distressed on the edges with Memento Rich Cocoa. Making this perfect for this week's distressing challenge at the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge.

I think the fall colours I chose for the maple leaves a perfect for this week's challenge at Paper Sundaes - a change of season. The trees in my neighbourhood are all ablaze right now with the colours of fall. Actually - if you scroll down I have edited this post to show some photos of our big maple out front. I swear, I take these same pictures every year - the only difference is the size of our tree!

The sentiment is from the CTMH November Word Puzzle set (now retired).

The bottom edge was punched with a Martha Stewart border punch.

As promised - here are the photos of our big maple tree, it really dwarfs our house. If you look closely at the top, you can see it has already started to drop the brilliant red leaves.

And this is why the Canadian flag has a RED maple leaf on it.  The sun reflecting off this tree makes the second floor of our house glow pink inside. Isn't that cool?

I did not stage this shot below - the bright red leaf was caught in the lower branches where the leaves have not completely changed colour.

The trunk of the tree has been scarred quite a bit over the years. Most of these scars started out as small scratches from the local wildlife but as the tree has grown they look much bigger.

How gorgeous Sheena. The tree shots are amazing. I just love the orange/red leaves. We have a small oak tree, and the leaves are going brown, not much to photograph. We also had our dinner on Sunday, it makes getting organized and visiting family on Monday more enjoyable.

Happy Thanksgiving.
