Second Card from Tanya's 2 Cute Class

Hi folks,

If you are here for my Pixie Cottage challenge post, just scroll down or click through here.

I'm back today with my second card from the class I took at Heather's Stamping Haven - taught by Tanya.

The image we used on this card is "Little Firefighter Girl" from 2 Cute Rubber Stamps. It is coloured with Copic Markers (Y35, Y38, W7, 110, E99, E25, E27, R02, R22, R24, R27, R29).

I wish I had thought to bring some blonde hair colour markers, as then I could have given her lighter hair and she would look my god-daughter - whose Daddy just so happens to be a volunteer firefighter!

Hope you all have a lovely day. I'll have a busy one as I am starting my Canada day holiday weekend a day early. Dearly beloved is having his D&D friends and their families over on Friday for a BBQ so that means I'm going to be doing some prep work today. I hope the weather holds!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pixie Cottage Challenge #76

Hi folks,

Wow, can you believe it is already the last Wednesday in June? That means that this is my last post as a guest DT for the Pixie Cottage. I must say, I have definitely enjoyed this month of playing along with the weekly challenges. Thanks Michelle for giving me the chance to play along with your talented team of Pixies!

Now - here is this week's sketch

and the theme is "Strawberries and Cream". Perfect for this time of year! I know I've been inundated with fresh local strawberries (see my previous post about this past weekend's activities!).

There are lots of ways to interpret the theme don't you think? In your image choice, your colour choice, your paper choice.....you can even combine both the theme and the sketch on your project if you wish!

I, of course, used the sketch and I tried incorporating the theme with my colour choices on my card - but I think you might say I also incorporated some "chocolate"!

I once again tried my hand at colouring with my PrismaColor Pencils on kraft card-stock as I thought this lovely rose image would lend itself well to that technique. I must say, I AM happy with the results. In my own garden, I actually have two varieties of roses that resemble the one above. One that is a "peaches and cream" colour combo and one exactly like this - a "strawberries and cream" combo. It is actually pretty interesting to watch how the colour on the roses changes over a few days from predominantly the cream colour to more of the peach or pink colour.

Anyways, be sure to pop over to the Pixie Cottage Blog to link up your project for the challenge and to check out the inspiration projects from the design team!

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches
  • image: "Simply the Best" by Artish for the Pixie Cottage, coloured with PrismaColor Pencils (930, 914, 929, 912, 909, 911)
  • sentiment: CTMH
  • patterned papers: Bo Bunny "Crazy Love" collection
  • card stock: Recollections Kraft, The Paper Company Cream Parchment
  • Spellbinders: Scalloped Squares, Fancy Tags
  • embellies: ribbon from my stash, button & waxy flax from CTMH

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a wonderful week! Tomorrow I start my long holiday weekend and I am  hopping to get into the craft room to tidy up the current chaos and maybe do a little card-making.

WOYWW - June 29th

Hi folks....

well...it is that time of the week...when those of us who aren't TOO embarrassed by our crafty chaos share a peek into our spaces with What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday.

I probably SHOULD be embarrassed by this (new stamps, the ever present Scotch ATG, my cuttlebug, copics...there's a case of PrismaColor pencils buried in there somewhere, last week's Pixie Cottage card, papers from this week's Pixie Cottage card....)

But I'm not. Why? Because of this!!!

Remember last week's WOYWW post with my very large quantity of gooseberries? Well, after 12 hours of topping and tailing the berries and another 6.5 hours of actually doing the cooking/canning, I have 42 250ml jars and 1 125ml jar of Strawberry/Gooseberry jam.

And you want to know something crazy? I plan to stop by one of the local strawberry farms again this weekend to pick up even more strawberries. I'm thinking some strawberry/rhubard jam is going to be made next....and maybe some straight-up strawberry jam.

Anyways, be sure to drop by Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground, to see the big list of everyone else who is playing along this week. There's always something interesting to see!

Oh, and be sure to drop back in a few minutes to see my final post as a guest DT for the Pixie Cottage!

First Card from Tanya's 2Cute Class

Hi folks,

this past weekend, I took some time out from my busy jam making activities to attend a class taught by Tanya at Heather's Stamping Haven. We were making cards using images from 2 Cute Rubber Stamps.

This is the first card that Tanya had designed for us to create:

How appropriate a name is this for a stamp company? Definitely, 2 Cute!

Scrapbook and Cards Today

Hi folks,

nothing crafty from me today as I have not been in the craft room since the weekend. But I did want to let you know that the latest issue of Scrapbooks & Cards Today is now available. You can download your own copy over at their site or pick up a free copy at your local independent scrapbooking store!

One nifty thing about the magazine - at the back there is a directory of CANADIAN paper-crafting businesses!  Great if you like to avoid the hassle of cross-border shipping (although with the current postal strike....)

hope you all have a lovely weekend!

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #75

Hi folks!

It's Wednesday and, since I am guest DTing over at the Pixie Cottage this month, I have a project for this week's challenge. As usual, you can play along with the sketch (shown below) or the theme - Outdoor Fun.

As you can see, I decided to do both on my card - a little more adventurous this week with an easel card. I haven't made one of these for a few months now and thought it was high time!

Here's a photo of just the front so you can see the detail of this cute "Hopscotch Holly" digital image by Artish for the Pixie Cottage.

Can you think of anything more fun on a nice sunshiny summer day than spending time playing hopscotch? I know I spent many an hour as a kid doing just that. I wonder, do kids still play hopscotch?

card details:
  • finished size: 5x5 inches
  • digital image:"Hopscotch Holly" digital image by Artish for the Pixie Cottage, coloured with Copic Markers (B91, B93, B95, C1, Colorless Blender, C6, C7, Y00, Y02, Y04, E000, E00, E34, E35, E37)
  • patterned papers: CTMH Sweet Home
Be sure to stop by the Pixie Cottage blog to see the projects created by the DT this week and to link up your own creations!

Thanks for stopping by!

WOYWW - June 22nd

Hi folks!

Well, instead of showing you a photo of my craft room for WOYWW, I thought I would show you something that will be taking away from my crafty time this week.

What's this you ask? 32 cups (8L) of gooseberries. We have one gooseberry bush in our garden and I spent 3.5 hours picking these berries on Sunday. Definitely our most prolific year so far. Now they have to be topped and tailed and made into jam, with an equivalent amount of strawberries. Lucky for me, the local strawberries are now in season - dearly beloved and I have been doing our best to polish off our first 4L basket of the season this week. Mmm...fresh strawberries, angel food cake and Devon Custard. YUMMMMMMM.....

I'm thinking I may have to take at least one day, maybe two off from work in order to get all these berries made into jam.

So, does anyone out there have any fave gooseberry recipes to share? Feel free to drop me an email via the link in my sidebar with your faves...or leave a link in the comments!

Oh....and I had a note from my PIF partner, Carolyn. Despite our postal strike here in Canada, my package made it's way across the pond safe and sound! Would you like to see what I sent?

I made one of my clip photo frame white boards -- and used the dry erase marker that went with it to write the WOYWW anagram on the Wednesdays in the calendar section.

I hope this is a welcome addition to Carolyn's craft space. I have one in my craft room that you can usually see in my WOYWW posts - I use mine to keep track of the cards I need to make in the next two months.

Oh, and I also sent along this matching card.

I LOVE those golden orange roses.

PIF project details:

  • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye Home
  • stamps: CTMH (calendar) and Verve (sentiments)
  • Spellbinders: Petite Circles
  • card layout: June Sketch For You to Try

Now if you would like to sneak a peek and everyone else who is playing along with WOYWW this week, be sure to head on over to Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground, for the big list!

Oh, and be sure to pop back in a few minutes for my second post for today - my Pixie Cottage Guest DT project for this week!

PWCO SS#85 for Father's Day

Hi folks,

I know - ANOTHER Father's Day card! What can I say, if I do Mother's day cards for all the women in  our family then it is only fair that I make Father's day cards for all the guys.

I think this one looks rather sharp, don't you? Personally, I love a guy in a nicely pressed shirt, tie (optional) and pants. Casual elegance.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #121 for Father's Day

    Hi folks,

well, it looks like my dearly beloved's Dad won't be getting the second lighthouse Father's Day card after all. I made a few more Father's day cards and dearly beloved decided on this one instead - and I agree with him on his choice.

His Dad really likes antique vehicles - he has a couple of restored pickups from the fifties and actually built a really big garage (it could easily hold 4 or maybe even 6 pickups) in which to grow his collection.  The other card will probably go to one of his brothers or his brother-in-law. Or I may just switch out the sentiment and turn it into a birthday card for my stash since I have four uncles with birthdays in the next couple of months.

    The Pixie Cottage Challenge #74

    Hi folks,

It's Wednesday so that means it is time for me to show you my guest DT project for this week's challenge over the Pixie Cottage Blog.

Here's the sketch for this week's challenge:

and the optional theme this week is "Grab a glass of Lemonade"

I followed the sketch AND I used the theme as my inspiration for the choice of papers on my card - yellow patterned paper with pinwheels that remind me of lemon slices! Refreshing!

If I do say so myself, this image is "udderly adorable" (okay, that IS the name of the image) but...how can you resist? I think this would make a gorgeous baby boy card. I think I need to pick up the girl version of this stamp as well.

WOYWW - June 15th and Viva La Verve Week 1

    Hi folks!

It's Wednesday - time for a peek at my desk for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!

Believe it or not, this is tidied up from yesterday!

Down front you can see the card I mentioned in the previous post that I  had to "fix" (more on that later).

My Copic chart is there as well as I pulled it out to make another order from Lora at OneCrazyStamper. On this order, I'm planning on getting the rest of the BG and YG markers that I don't have in my collection. That's about another 30 I do believe.

And something you don't see very often - my set of PrismaColor pencils. Yes, I have the big set - 120 pencils. I had them out colouring the lighthouse image that was used on two of my Father's Day cards and the birthday card you see in the photo.

That's it for the peek! Be sure to drop by Julia's blog, The Stamping Ground, to share your crafty space and to sneak a peek at everyone else's desk.

Now for those  of you who stuck around, here's the card in the photo! Yes, I know, for you regular readers that this is my third card this week with this image and these papers. But this one will be a birthday card for one of my Uncles.

What I had to fix? The sentiment panel. Originally, I had inked the edges (as I did on the previous card) instead of distressing them with my scissors. Totally wrong since, on this card, the card stock had all been scissor distressed and the patterned papers were ink distressed. Totally wrong. I could NOT leave that inconsistency on the finished card.

    card details:

    • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches
    • stamped image: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps "Shining Light", coloured with PrismaColor Pencils (938, 988, 1070, 1076, 1072, 1030, 1023)
    • sentiment: Verve "Big Wish"
    • patterned papers: Gartner Studios Bon Voyage Map
    • cardstock: CTMH Cocoa (the panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug Script folder), Bamboo, Kraft
    • Spellbinders: Petite Ovals
    • layout: Viva La Verve June Week 1 sketch

    CPS222 and WOTT

    Hi folks,

well the image on this card is going to look a bit familiar. I had coloured up three of them and dearly beloved liked the card I did for my Dad for Father's Day so much that I wound up making the card for his Dad with the same image.

    card details:

    • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
    • stamped image and sentiment: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps "Shining Light", coloured with PrismaColor Pencils (938, 988, 1070, 1076, 1072, 1030, 1023)
    • patterned papers: Gartner Studios Bon Voyage Map
    • cardstock: CTMH Cocoa (the panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug Script folder), Bamboo, Kraft
    • Spellbinders: Petite Ovals
    • recycled twill ribbon, brown twine from Jillibean Soup
    • layout: CPS222
    additional challenges for this card:

And since it is Tuesday and time for What's on Tap Tuesday (hosted by the CraftyFrugalista), here's a peek at my crafty spot after I finished up last night

You can see I actually did two cards - and one of them I realized I didn't do something consistently so I have to redo one little bit. That card will probably get posted later this week.

My table is it's usual mess - the way I like it!

Ta Ta for now.....see you again tomorrow with my project for this week's challenge over at the Pixie Cottage!

Shining Light - Happy Father's Day

    Hi folks,

back today with another of this year's Father's Day cards. The first one was for my brother, this one is for my Dad.

I finally tried something I've been meaning to try since seeing Tanya do this technique so skillfully - colouring with my PrismaColor pencils on kraft paper. This was the PERFECT image for this technique.  The white of the lighthouse shows up so nicely on this paper. I even added some "fog" with my cloud blue pencil.

I know a lot of you out there struggle with masculine cards. Me? No problemo. I actually find them easier than girlie girl cards. My secret - great masculine papers and classic images or just a simple sentiment. It helps that most of the "masculine" colours are more my style.

    card details:

    • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches
    • stamped image and sentiment: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps "Shining Light", coloured with PrismaColor Pencils (938, 988, 1070, 1076, 1072, 1030, 1023)
    • patterned papers: Gartner Studios Bon Voyage Map
    • cardstock: CTMH Cocoa, Bamboo, Kraft
    • Spellbinders: Petite Circles

    Happy Birthday Mom

    Hi folks,

My Mom's birthday is later this week and, even though I knew I was going to use this image on her card, I didn't get around to making the card until yesterday. So, you guessed it, it will be going with the Father's Day cards via ExpressPost or courier so that it gets there in time.

    card details:

    • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
    • stamped image: Simply the Best by Artish for the Pixie Cottage Stamps coloured with Copic Markers (YG61, YG63, YG67, Y21, Y23, Y26, Y28)
    • stamped sentiments: Verve "Big Wish" and "Because of You"
    • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye "29th Street Market" - Brothers and Outdoors
    • ribbon (coloured to match with Y21) and CTMH Chocolate Waxy Flax
    • layout: Sketch N Stash #63. New items I used are the stamp (first time I inked it up since getting it in May at the Crop for the Cure) and the papers (picked them up last weekend at Michael's)

    Mojo 194 for Father's Day

    Hi folks,

Well, I finally started making my Father's Day cards today. Late I know, but, my mojo went for a hike a few times this past month when I meant to make them - the courier or ExpressPost will be used to get them home this year.

And yes, I said cards. I make a few cards for Father's Day - just like Mother's Day. So that got me wondering, how many Father's Day cards does everybody else make? Just for your Dad? Your hubby? Your brother? Your brothers-in-law? Anyone else? I usually also make one for my sister.

So first up is the ONE Father's Day card I managed to make today, using this week's Mojo Monday sketch #194

    card details:

    additional challenges for this card:

Hope you are all having a lovely day - thanks for stopping by! I hope my mojo doesn't wander off again tomorrow as I really DO have to get the Father's Day cards done.

    Exciting news at PaperWorksCo

    Hi folks,

so have you been following along with the DT announcements over at the PaperWorksCo blog this past week? Lots of new and returning members!

Well, I'm lifting today's post because Peg has made some changes to how PWCO runs their challenges.
-- Excerpted from the PWCO blog:

"We’ll be switching up the posting schedule, so it’s going to look something like this:
    • Magnificent Kit Mondays - We’ll be showcasing all the amazing things you can do with our PaperCard Kits!  Stop in for some inspiration!
    • Wonderful Sketch Wednesdays - Our Sunday Sketch is moving!  These great sketches are still going to be designed by Bella the Sketch Goddess, however, we thought y’all needed more of a mid-week pick-me-up!  Play along with at least 2 sketches per month, and be entered to win 2 stamps of your choice – OR that month’s PaperCard Kit!  (If you combine OUR challenges, it only counts as entering once; you’re welcome to combine our challenges with anyone else’s, though!)
    • Fabulous Recipe Fridays - Our same great Recipe Challenges, designed by Danielle the Recipe Goddess; now on Fridays for some weekend fun!  Play along with at least 2 recipe challenges per month, and be entered to win 2 stamps of your choice - OR that month’s PaperCard Kit!  (If you combine OUR challenges, it only counts as entering once; you’re welcome to combine our challenges with anyone else’s, though!)
    • Super Anything-But-A-Card Sundays - Another new feature here at PWCO, an entire day devoted each week to Anything-But-A-Card projects!  While we all love looking at and being inspired by cards, we thought it was high time we really mixed things up – check in on Sundays for inspiration in the form of bags, tags, scrapbook pages, altered items, 3-D items….and whatever else the talent on this team can come up with!
There’s a new bonus with our challenges, too – you’ve got ALL MONTH to participate!   I don’t know about you, but in my house, I don’t have the opportunity to craft whenever I want to – I usually wind up staying up way past ‘way too late’ and crafting like a crazy lady – and I only get to do that about twice per month.  That generally means I don’t get to play in many challenges, simply because by the time I get to craft, I’ve missed all of the deadlines… SO, I thought if we gave you until midnight MST on the last day of the month to play along, then it should be no problem at all to play with at least 2 sketches or 2 recipe challenges!

Also, if you haven’t already, make sure to ”Like” PWCO on FaceBook - you never know what sort of sales, secrets, or sneaks could show up over there!"

-- end of PWCO blog post excerpt

You now have ALL MONTH to play along! Now, I know some of you are lucky enough to get to craft on a daily basis, but for some of us, that's just impossible. I typically only craft on the weekends as I just don't have time on weeknights to make it into the craft room.

Viva la Verve June Week 2 and SCCC27

    Hi folks!

    Well, it's Friday night and my other half is out playing D&D so I managed some crafty time tonight to get my two cards done for Sparkle's Weekly Christmas Card Challenge. Challenge #27 is the colour combo of {gold, cream and white}

I decided to go with a clean and simple layout, using the Viva La Verve June Week 2 sketch (I haven't done Week 1 yet)

as I decided to dig deep into my stash of REALLY old papers and pulled out some very heavily textured gold and cream papers.

What I came up with were these two cards:

They have quite the sheen to them in real life and the texture is almost like leather. The paper on which the images are stamped (in Memento Rich Cocoa) is a creamy coloured paper that has a gold wash on it. I actually wasn't sure how well the ink would stamp on the paper but it seems to have done the job.

I added some gold embroidery floss and white lace as accents based on the sketch elements.

    additional card details:

    • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
    • stamped images: CTMH All The Best
    • Spellbinders: Petite Ovals and Scalloped Ovals
    • Corner Rounder punch

There you have it - I'm now up to 62 Christmas cards made so far for this year. I'm thinking that by the time all the stamp companies start rolling out their new stamps and papers for the coming season, I won't have any excuse for buying all the new goodies as I will have all my cards already done for the year. That's probably a good thing - use up the stash!

oh well, hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead! I'm really going to have to crack the whip and get my Father's day cards all made this weekend. I haven't made a single one yet. Which means my cards for my Dad and brother will have to go ExpressPost (or by courier if Canadapost expands their postal strike action).

Thanks for stopping by!....now back to the hockey game!

    The Pixie Cottage Challenge #73

Hi folks, I'm back this week with another card for my stint as a Guest DT for the Pixie Cottage Stamps for the month of June.

    Here's a photo of this week's sketch.

and the optional theme this week is "Shape it Up".  I stuck with just the sketch again this week as I had this adorable stamp from the Pixie Cottage that I was just itching to ink up. I MAY be back later this week with something for the theme....we'll see.

    Anyways, here's my card!

See what I mean about a cute image? How can you resist? A kitteh AND a teddy? Cute overload!

    card details:

    • finished size: 6x6 inches
    • stamped image: Cookie and Caboodles with Roses from the Pixie Cottage Stamps. Coloured with Copic Markers (RV32, RV34, G24, G28, E30, E31, E33, E34, E35, E37, E39, E47, E49)
    • sentiment: CTMH Say it in Style
    • patterned papers: CTMH Cherry-O
    • chocolate satin ribbon, gathered by hand (for anyone who is curious, on a 6x6 card, I use an 18 inch piece of ribbon to get the amount of gather I like).
    Additional challenges for this card:

Anyways, be sure to pop back to the Pixie Cottage blog to see the creations from the DT and to link up YOUR creation for this week's challenge. Remember, you can choose to do the sketch, the theme or both! And you don't have to use Pixie Cottage stamps - but if you've got them why not?

      Thanks for stopping by!

      WOYWW - June 8th

      Hi folks!

Phew wasn't that an awesome WOYWW last week? I finally got my PIF into the post yesterday - the postal service here in Canada is currently taking job action so I was reluctant at first to drop it into the mail system. But, turns out to be a rotating strike, from city to city and so far, Ottawa has not been hit. Fingers crossed my PIF gets to its intended recipient in the UK in the time that CanadaPost promised - two to three weeks!!! Don't get me started on "standards of delivery"! Really? Two to three WEEKS? I was thinking a week at the MOST!

Anyways, here's a shot of my desk as I finished up last night (yes, I was crafting on a week-night and NO you can't see what it was until next Wednesday's post for the Pixie Cottage!)

What you CAN see are the papers, Spellbinders dies and Copics I was using on my project!....oh, and the usual mess.

Not sure how observant you might be but my stash of Copics has grown since last week's post - there's another 27 markers in that tote. By my calculations, I have another 100 to go and I will have them all (except for the Fluorescents and Spicas). I'm going to need a bigger container. ETA - some you have asked what the container is...Boy I WISH it was an empty ice cream container as it is 40 degrees Celsius here today and I would have enjoyed emptying it! It is actually an "Art Bin" tipped up on edge, with the insert tray and lid removed for easy access. When I go to crops or play dates, I just pop the lid back on and my Copics are instantly portable.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by my crafty spot for this week's edition of WOYWW. To see the master list of participants, do drop by Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground. It's fun to have a sneaky peek at everyone's desk, don't you think?

Be sure to drop back in a little bit to see my second post for today for this week's challenge over at the Pixie Cottage! I'm guest DTing again this week!

What's on Tap Tuesday - June SFYTT!

      Hi folks,

well it looks like not doing booty camp during these hot summer months is getting me into the craft room on weeknights!

Here's what my desk looked like after last night's crafty time

I was playing along with the June Sketch For You To Try over at iheart2stamp. You can see my printout of it with my notes about the cards I made with it down front.

      Here's the actual sketch...

and here is one of the cards I made (I'm saving the other to go with another post that has to wait until the recipient receives the card and the gift it accompanies).

Even my other half commented that he liked this card!

      card details:

      • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
      • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye "Home" Glitter Stack
      • stamps: Verve "Big Wish"

      Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #26

      Hi folks!

Wow, for someone who thought the card-making mojo was starting to go into hiding, I've done very well this week. I've actually been in the craft room Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night! Totally out of character for me. I guess I have to fill my time somehow now that I've finished with Booty Camp for the summer.

Today I have my cards for this week's challenge (#26) over at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge blog. This week we are being challenged to create a Christmas Card with snowflakes.

      Easy Peasy!

Once again I made two cards, just slightly different from one another using this week's square sketch for Mojo Monday 193

      card details:

      • finished size: 6x6 inches
      • stamps: CTMH Snow Friends and Snow Flurries. Snow men were coloured with Copic Markers (BG10, R35, R37, R39, Y38). With a little sparkle added to the snow flakes with my Sakura Clear Star gel pen.
      • patterned papers: CTMH Jingle (with the snowflakes!)
      • ribbons and buttons: CTMH
      • Spellbinders: Labels One (Small and Large) - who else is glad to FINALLY get a small size for a label die so you can mat your images properly?
      additional challenges for these cards:
thanks for stopping by - hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Viva la Verve - May Week 2

Hi folks (if you are here for my Pixie Cottage post, please scroll down to the previous post or click through here)

so for those of you who saw my WOYWW post yesterday, you got a sneak peek at today's cards as they were sitting, almost finished, in my crafty space (I finished the inside last night).

I used the Week 2 Sketch from the Viva La Verve Challenges

and did something a little more "femme" than the other cards I made for the May sketches.

Yes! I pulled out my sewing machine and stitched on my cards!!! And I did leave out one element of the sketch as I thought adding anything else to these cards would be a bit overdone.

        card details:

        • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
        • stamps: Verve Amazing Wishes, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa
        • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye Pretty Please
        • Spellbinders: Petite Circles, Labels Seventeen
        • extras: paper doily, CTMH velvet ribbon, buttons, embroidery floss
        Additional challenges for these cards:
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day.

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #72 - June 1st

        Hi folks,

guess who has the honour of being a guest DT for "The Pixie Cottage Stamps" this month? That's right - little old me!!!

So, for the next four Wednesdays, I'll be featuring my take on the current challenge over the The Pixie Cottage Blog.

Here is a close-up view of this week's sketch

The optional theme this week is "anything but a card".

I opted to go with just the sketch for my project this week.

Doesn't Sparkles look ready for summer to start? This fun, summery image from the Pixie Cottage is one of many images created by Artish. I thought it would be great paired with these cheerful papers from Echo Park Paper Co. And, to mimic the sparklers that are twinkling away in her hands, I decided to make a couple of paper pinwheels for my embellishment pieces.

        card details:
        • finished size: 6x6 inches
        • image: digi Sparkles by Artish from The Pixie Cottage Stamps, coloured with Copic markers (E000, E00, E93, E04, YG63, YG67, YG17, BG11, BG13, BG45, BG49, Y06, YR04, YR18, E34, E57)
        • patterned papers: Echo Park Sweet Summertime
        • card stock: CTMH Ocean (textured)
        • buttons from my stash
        Additional challenges for this card:
Be sure to pop over to the Pixie Cottage Blog to see what the rest of the regular DT have created for you this week - and to link up your own creation! Remember, you can use either the sketch, the theme or both! And, you don't have to use Pixie Cottage images - but if you've got them, why not?

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come back next Wednesday to see my next project as a guest DT for the Pixie Cottage Stamps.

        WOYWW #104 - June 1st

        Hi folks!

It's the big day - the second anniversary of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday! So just need to get a couple of things out of the way first

        • yes I am playing along with the PIF so......for whoever is playing along with the PIF and is next after me, I hope there's a way to reach you via your blog! If not, you can email ME via the link in my sidebar on the left.
        • and for my PIF partner, I'm in Canada and right now we are under threat of a looming postal strike. We will know for sure in the next day. So, I'm going to wait until the strike deadline passes tomorrow before posting my package. If there is no strike, I'll go via Canadapost. If there IS a strike, then I will UPS my WOYWW PIF creation to you. Never fear! You will get your PIF!!!
        • and...no sneaks of my PIF project! As Julia said in the PIF rules, no posting it until you know that your PIF partner has received the package. No spoiling the surprise!
So.....my WOYWW post is all about the mess on my desk after I finished up the cards I started on Monday and completed last night.

The finished cards (which will be posted on my blog tomorrow) are in the centre, the papers I was using on the left, along with the sketch and one of my quilting squares. On the right there are a couple of glue guns. I didn't feel like reloading my ATG in the middle of finishing my cards so I pulled out my Glue Glider Pro. My trusty Cuttlebug has a new location on the corner of my desk. Saves me the trouble of picking it up off the floor half a dozen times while making a card!

Anyways, that's it for me. Be sure to stop by Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground, to wish her a happy 2nd anniversary for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday and to see who else is playing along!

Oh ... and pop back in a little while. I have a special surprise for my regular readers for the next four weeks in June!
