yes, this is another of the cards I made for my trip home - this one for the only nephew on my side of the family.

Yep -  he's one of the reasons that I DO get to hone my skills at making masculine cards.

Hi folks,

back with a scheduled post of another of the cards I made for one of my nieces here in Newfoundland.

I have to say, love the Basic Grey Marjolaine paper -- and this particular Creeper from TGF ... I meant to give her goggles a little glossy look but was a bit rushed for time so I left them as is.

I may actually grace the blog-arooni with some photos from around my hometown while I visit. I've been going out for a walk every day, well, limping actually. First day after I arrived I went for a jog but blew out my Achilles tendon so while it is on the mend I've been limping around trying to get a little bit of exercise at least. NOT a good feeling let me tell you! I keep forgetting to take the camera with me but....eventually I will remember. And, after all, I AM here for three whole weeks so......

Just a quick update

Hi folks,

yes I did find my way to Newfoundland and found myself an internet connection at the local library. How is this for irony though - I came to the library to update my Kobo (my ebook reader). It would appear that I did not download all of my books to my actual reader before I left! Doh!  And, of course, now that I am here at the library I forgot to bring my cable for the reader itself. So....I'll have to come back. sigh....

but the visit is going okay. I miss my own home but it was good to see my Dad before he set sail for the next month. And it is good to see for myself how my Mom is doing - which, by the way, is very good. I definitely know from where my stubborn-ness comes from!

I may pop back in again in a few days....I have photos of cards I completed before I came down which I can post and if I feel like blogging then maybe you will see them up here on the blog-arooni before I get back to Ottawa!

off to the Rock

Hi folks,

just a quick little post to those loyal readers who may pause for thought over the next three weeks wondering why I'm not posting - I am off to my home province of Newfoundland and will have limited (if any) internet access. Where I am going (my home town), even my cell phone doesn't work!

My folks refuse to have internet access at their house so - unless I go scoff a connection at my sister's or brother's - no interwebs for me. I may have to resort to hanging out at the library like I did when I was a kid - just so I can get my daily blog fix!

So, my apologies to those whose blogs I follow - you probably won't see me commenting for the next while.

I have mixed feelings about this trip - there have been lots of tears the last few days. My sweetie and I have never been apart for this long so....sniff sniff. And of course there are my kittehs...and the crafting (no supplies were brought with me -- absolutely none!)

And then there is the reason for my visit - and the reason why I have been out of sorts with crafting lately - my Mom is ill and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She's had three treatments so far and the fourth will happen while I am home (my Dad has to return to work shortly - thus my visit at this time). Theoretically she will likely need between six and eight chemo treatments.

So, there you go....and there I go. See you in a few weeks

I know it's a rarity these days but I actually have a new card to post! This one is for the 2nd generation D&D player in my other half's D&D group. Yes, my other half plays D&D and the SON of one the other guys he plays with has a birthday tomorrow. And yes, the son has been playing with them now for about 4 or 5 years. He's only going to be 17 but, to be honest, he is sometimes more mature that the 1st generation players!

not sure how many of you follow the Lily Pad Cards blog by inlinkz but they did a blog post introducing the new link manager tool. Ummm....awesome for anyone who lists and links the tools/products used on their projects. When I finally get around to doing something crafty again, you will see it pop up on my blog I'm sure as I have gone ahead and registered and have started to build my list of links....starting with my PWCO stamps as those are planned to be used on a project for my sister.

Local craft fair call for vendors

Hi local crafty peeps,

Just thought I would pass along this little bit of info I saw in the Kanata Kourier Community Events listings this morning.

St. Martin de Porres Elementary School in Kanata is holding its annual Christmas Craft sale on Saturday November 26. They are looking for new and creative vendors to make this year another success. The show is from 9 am to 3 pm. Cost $30 for space approximately 8 feet by 8 feet. Please email st-martincraftfair@yahoo.ca or call the school at 613-836-4754 for more details.

So if you are interested in selling your crafty creations at a local craft show ..... here's an opportunity. And no, I don't plan on participating in the craft fair myself.
