Birthday Wishes!

Hi folks!!!

Surprise!!! Earlier this month, Denice, one of my fellow design team members at Yumi & Fumi Handmade celebrated her birthday. So today we are throwing a little online party in her honour!

Happy Birthday, Denice! Hope you are STILL celebrating!

And, since Denice seemed to like the photo frame white board I made for the Yumi & Fumi Back to School challenge, I thought I might make one for her to match the card.

The Sisterhood of Crafter's - Tag You're It!

Hi folks!

It's Wednesday and that means it is time to share my creation for the current challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters!

Until October 6th we're playing a little game of "Tag You're It!". That's right, we would love to see you feature a tag on card or project!

I decided to make the tag on my card removable - so it can be used by the recipient as an inspirational book mark!

Here's t card with the tag tucked in behind the image and sentiment panels. The panels are popped up with dimensional foam tape and the buttons at the top of the tag help to keep it from sliding down too far behind the image panel. Clever, huh?

And here's a photo of the card with the tag so you can see the inspirational message.

I think both sentiments I chose for this project work very well with the image.

Now get busy creating! I can't wait to check out your creations for the "Tag You're It" Challenge!.
And don't forget, if you get busy and create a Christmas themed tag, you can link it up over at the Yumi and Fumi handmade challenge blog as well (by Friday).

Mojo Monday 311

Good morning everybody!!!

It's early for a Saturday morning but anyone who knows me knows that I am an early riser (I've been up since 5am) . I've got a busy day planned for today. I'll be canning pear butter that I have had simmering in my crock pot for hours on end this week AND I'll be canning pickled beets. So, I thought I would pop on the old interwebs and share this card while I wait for my dishwasher to finish washing the jars before I sterilize them in my canner.

It has been a while since I have had a chance to play along with the Mojo Monday sketches so when I sat down to make a card for a friend of mine I took a look at this week's sketch and decided to use it.

Here's a peek at the sketch:

and here's my card:

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base
  • patterned papers & layered sticker: My Mind's Eye "Up and Away"

Feeling Christmas-y on a Sunday morning!

Hi folks,

Just thought I would pop in with a quick little post to share the other card I made with "Bob the Yeti".

Funny story about this card. As you may know, Sunday's are the days that the design teams share their creations for the latest challenge over at Yumi and Fumi Handmade. This week marks the start of a new challenge to make "a christmas tag". Team Yumi is sharing their creations today and my team, Team Fumi, will be sharing ours next week. Well, yours truly saw Christmas and not tag and made this card to share next week. I realized my oops though and will be preparing a different project for my challenge post! But I figured this card was too cute not to share so....here you go!

card details:

  • finished size: 5x5 inches, white card stock base
  • patterned paper: Kaiser Craft's Mint Twist, sentiment stickers are from the Pennants sticker sheet that came in the paper pack
  • stamped image: Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Bob the Yeti", coloured with Copic Markers (G09, R46, B00, E93, E95, E000, E00, B000). I also coloured over the light bulbs on the light string with my clear star gelly roll marker to give them a little sparkle.

Getting Christmas-y - with Bob the Yeti

Hi folks (if you are here to check out my post for The Sisterhood of Crafters, please scroll down)

well, after a LONG break from making Christmas cards (I made four in January and that was it so far for this year), I decided it was time to get back in the ho-ho-ho spirit.

What do you think? Isn't Bob the Yeti just adorable? I actually made two cards with him but I'll share the other card some other time.

card details:

  • finished size: 6x6 inches, CTMH Sweet Leaf card stock base
  • patterned paper: Kaiser Craft Mint Twist
  • stamped image: Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Bob the Yeti". Coloured with Copic Markers (G09, R46, B00, B000, E93, E95, E000, E00)
  • white twill ribbon, rick rack ribbon, holly leaf sequins, CTMH Holiday Red brads
  • Spellbinders: petite ovals
  • layout: 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Sketch 21

The Sisterhood of Crafter's - Divine Digi's Challenge

Hi folks,

If you are a frequent visitor then you have probably noticed a new addition to my sidebar. That's right! I'm delighted to announce that I am a Step Sister for September and October with The Sisterhood of Crafters! Starting today, be sure to stop by every other Wednesday to check out my creations for the current challenge.

The challenge for the next two weeks (Sept 11th to 22nd) is "Divine Digi's" - that's right! Use a digi on your creation and link it up at the challenge post so we can "ooh" and "aah" over all of your fabulous creations.

Shelly's Images is the sponsor of this week's challenge so I chose to work with this absolutely LOVELY pumpkin image in order to get a head start on this year's Thanksgiving cards. I chose to work with the uncoloured image but, like so many of Shelly's Images, these pumpkins are also available in a coloured version if you prefer.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base. Autumnal red card stock mats.
  • patterned paper: Recollections "Autumn" mat stack
  • digi image: Shelly's Images "Pumpkins", printed on Copic X-Press It card stock, coloured with Copic Markers (YR20, YR21, YR12, YR15, YR16, YG91, YG93, YG95, YG97, YG99, YG21, E21, E23, E25, E27) and sky background sponged with CTMH Heavenly Blue Ink. I actually coloured two of these images and cut out the two smaller pumpkins and leaves so they are popped up with foam tape for some extra dimension.
  • sentiment: Verve "Tall Oaks" stamped in CTMH Barn Red.
  • die cuts: Cuttlebug Leaves, Spellbinders Petite Ovals
  • layout: Unscripted Sketches #221

Challenge #23 - Back to School with Yumi & Fumi Handmade

Hi folks,

It's Sunday so that means I am sharing my Team Fumi creation for Challenge #23 over at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog.

Challenge #23 is a "back to school" themed challenge and you have until this coming Friday to link up your challenge entries at the Y&FH challenge post for a chance to win!

The minute I saw the subject for this challenge I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to make - a picture frame "white board". Not sure what that is? Well, here you go!

These fun little message boards are so easy-peasy to make. Take a clear, clip style picture frame - whichever size suits your needs. You can go as big (mine is 10 inches by 12 inches) or as small as you like. Then put together a fun layout - just be sure to leave some spaces to write your reminders or messages. Since this IS a picture frame it already has the spots on the back from which it can be hung on the wall in your child's study area. Or, you can attach some heavy-duty rare earth magnets to the back to stick in a school locker or on the refrigerator.

Be sure to use white-board or wash-off markers so your messages aren't permanent!

project details:
  • finished size: 10 x 12 inches, clip style acrylic photo frame
  • patterned paper: Bo Bunny "Learning Curve". I have been holding on to these 12x12 papers in my stash for such a long time just for the chance to do a project like this!
  • stamped images: Yumi  & Fumi Handmade "Fumi with Messenger Bag", "Yumi with Book Bag". Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Copic X-Press It paper, coloured with Copic Markers. Fumi: (skin) E02, E01, E00, E000, E93. (hair) E11, E97, E99, E07, E08, E09, E19. (outfit) B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, R35, R37, R39, Y21, Y23, Y32, white gelly roll marker. Yumi: (skin) E02, E01, E00, E000, E93. (hair) E21, E23, E25, E27, E29. (outfit) Y21, Y23, Y32, G94, G99, G20, G21, YR12, YR15, YR18.
  • stamped sentiments: CTMH September Word Puzzle (retired) in CTMH White Daisy Ink

Surprise!

It's a special someone's birthday today!!! Yep we're celebrating Leanne Fumiko Poe's - aka the Original "Fumi" birthday today with a little blog-land surprise! A bunch of us got together to make Leanne's day a little extra special.

I thought it only fitting to celebate with a cheery little Fumi Panda birthday card.

And you guessed it - Fumi Panda was stamped and coloured on polyshrink plastic (aka Shrinky Dinks) to make a little charm. If Leanne is so inclined, she will be able to remove the charm from the card and attach it to her key chain, purse, back pack, tote, etc and everyone will know that it is hers - just as soon as the card reaches her in the post!

Happy Birthday Leanne! Hope you have a fantastic day!

Be sure to stop by the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog to see the creations from everyone who is joining in the celebration today!

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base, textured Bazzill card stock for mats
  • patterned paper: My Mind's Eye "Breeze"
  • stamped image: Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Fumi Panda", stamped with Staz-on Ink on polyshrink plastic, coloured with PrismaColor Pencils

  • yellow brocade ribbon, black embroidery floss and Basic Grey "Indian Summer" buttons from my stash
  • layout: Sketch 'n Stash Challenge 120 with optional theme of monochromatic (I didn't QUITE do the theme. Black/grey/white with a pop of yellow....close...but not QUITE. I REALLY wanted to use some yellow on this card.)
