Sister Act Card Challenge #35 - Card #2

Hi folks,

I'm back today to share a card from Digi Darla Designs - this week's sponsor of the Anything Goes challenge at the Sister Act Card Challenge.

I was having laser printer issues and wasn't able to get a card using a Digi Darla image ready in time for the team post but I did eventually get an image printed that I could use so I HAD to get out my my markers and create this adorable card for our youngest niece.

Here's the card I made using the oh so adorable "A Toddler's Christmas" .

I can't decide whether the little cutie under the Christmas tree is busy wrapping or UN-wrapping the presents! What do you think?

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, textured pale blue card stock for the centre mat
  • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye "Colorful Christmas" - I've always loved this collection because of it's non-traditional colours. Makes for fun cards for the nieces and nephews.
  • digital image: Digi Darla Designs "A Toddler's Christmas", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, E50, E51, E53, E30, E31, E33, E21, E23, E25, Y13, Y15, BG11, BG13, B000, B12, B14, R22, R24, R29, G03, G05, G07, G09, G000, C1, R81, R83, R85, V09, V05)
  • sentiment: Verve "Holiday Greetings"
  • buttons and felt ribbon from my stash to frame the image
  • the layout is all my own.

Sister Act Card Challenge #35

Hi folks!

Today I am happy to sharing the first of my creations as part of the design team for the Sister Act Card Challenge! In case you didn't know, the Sister Act Card Challenge is a weekly "Anything Goes" Card Challenge. The rules are pretty simple - if you have a new card creation you would like to share, just link up in the weekly linky list and you could be taking home a prize from one of the sponsors.

This week's challenge is sponsored by Digi Darla Designs

If you get a chance you will definitely want to browse around the store to check out the lovely collection of digis available.

I was having printer issues this week and I wasn't able to get an image printed off in time to get my card featuring one of the Digi Darla images ready for this post, so be sure to pop back later this week when I will hopefully have one ready for you!

Anyways, here is the card I prepared just in case I couldn't get the printer to play nice.

I am so proud of myself! For the first time in much too long, I actually have my sweetie's Christmas card made BEFORE Christmas Eve! Yay me!

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base
  • patterned papers: Kaiser Craft "Twig and Berry"
  • stamped image: The Greeting Farm "A Cheeky Christmas", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, R000, R37, R39, R56, R59, E21, E23, E25, E35, E27) and I used my Clear Star gelly roll pen from Sakura to add a few details to the trim on her outfit.
  • sentiments: Verve "Merry & Bright", "Ornamental Christmas"
  • layout: Sunday Sketch & Stamp #184
  • Spellbinders Petite Ovals
  • EK Success Scalloped Scallops border punch

As always, thanks for stopping! Be sure to visit every Friday to check out my latest creation for the Sister Act Card Challenge. AND - be sure to link up your card creations at the Sister Act Card Challenge Blog so I can pop by for a visit to see what you are creating!

Another Jess' College Fund Digi Card!

Hi folks ,

---

If you are here for my Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Battle Hop" post please click through or scroll down to the previous post. Trust me - even if you AREN'T here for that post, you should go check it out!

---

Well, it's a Saturday morning and, as usual, I was up before 5 am thanks to the fur-babies. It was too early (and dark) to tackle the remaining autumn yard work so rather than doze on the daybed like I usually do, I decided to hit the craft room for a little colouring time.

It was rather enjoyable to colour "just because". I really don't have anyone in mind for this card, I just wanted to colour up this new image from Jess' College Fund. There is a fantastic challenge going on at her blog to introduce this collection of stamps - you really should check it out!

Did you  notice the words etched into the button? I was digging through my newly acquired buttons (as if I don't have too many already) and thought that this one was just perfect to pair with this image.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base and mats
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey "Sweet Threads"
  • digital image: Jess' College Fund "Jess Coffee Time", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, E04, E21, E23, E25, E27, E40, E41, E42, R01, R02, R05, R08, YG91, YG93)
  • sentiment: Verve "Joyful Blooms", stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa with CTMH Taffy Ink sponged on the sentiment panel
  • Spellbinders Labels One
  • button, ribbon and twine from my stash
  • layout: Seize the Sketch #8
additional challenges for this card:

As always, thanks for stopping by! The sun is up now and it's all of 6 degrees Celsius, heading for a balmy high of 10. Brrr. Have to get that yard work done!

Team Yumi's Yummies vs. Team Fumi's Faves

Good Morning Everybody! Let's give a big cheer for Friday! Woo hoo!

If you came here from Cebelica's blog then you already know about today's Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Battle Hop". If you just happened upon my post then you might want to head back to the Battle Hop post over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog. Trust me on this - you DON'T want to miss a step!

We thought it would be fun to have a good-natured "Battle Hop" between Team Yumi and Team Fumi where we each get to pick our favourite embellishments and use them on our project. If you are a frequent visitor to my blog then you know I don't go embellishment crazy on my cards. I usually stick with just one, sometimes two, types of embellishments. I typically go with some seam binding, ribbon, twine, flowers, brads, buttons OR adhesive gems. Every now and then I like to shake things up with a doily or some metal charms.

For this challenge, I actually chose THREE of my faves from those listed above:
  • seam binding. I LOVE how it can be coloured or dyed to match, though I left it plain on this card.
  • buttons. I always try to pick up on the colours in my papers when I choose my buttons. That's how I roll, all matchy matchy.
  • twine. It's great for tying those buttons together when you layer them AND for adding a little contrast to your ribbon. For masculine cards, you can't beat twine. A great way to get your embellie fix on without going all girlie-girl on those cards for that special guy.

So, what do you think? Is Fumi doing a fantastic job of highlighting "Fumi's Faves"? If you think so, then be sure to do the following to have a chance at winning one (or more!) of the prizes up for grabs along the Battle Hop:

1. Leave a comment on MY POST (this one) to be entered into a draw to win an assortment of the embellishments I used on the card above. That's right! I'm giving away everything you see in the photo below to one lucky commenter on this post!

That's a 100 yard roll of seam binding, 12 rolls of jute twine and matching buttons. I'll even toss in a brand new, unused Fumi stamp! Don't worry, if you are the winner and already have this one, I have several other extra Y&FH stamps from which you can choose.

2. Visit every stop along the hop and leave a comment for each DT member on the hop (if they are offering their fave embellies as a prize, you could win that one as welll). Then, leave a comment on the "Battle Hop" post back at Yumi & Fumi Handmade identifying the DT member who you think best met the challenge and what you liked most about their project. And be sure to link up as well using the inlinkz tool. I know it's no fun picking faves but....someone has to be your fave! Remember, just one vote! By commenting back on the Y&FH blog you are going to be eligible to win one heck of an awesome prize from Y&FH: a Y&FH stamp of our choosing plus items similar to those that EACH DT members lists as their faves! AND - you have a voice in deciding the individual DT winner and the overall winning team. Will it be Team Yumi or Team Fumi? I can't wait to find out!

So - do you think you have room in your stash for all those goodies if you are the big winner? Don't forget to leave a comment and then head on over to head over to the super-crafty Rinne's blog. She's the next stop in the hop! If you get lost, just go back to the main post on the Y&FH blog. You have until 11:00PM PST on November 18th to finish the hop! The winners will be announced on November 20th!

Thanks for visiting! See you again soon!

Viva La Verve November 2013 Week 2

Hi folks,

I am definitely starting to panic about getting enough Christmas cards made for this year. So, since I STILL haven't packed away my gear from the crop I attended the first weekend of November, I grabbed the same papers I used for my Week 1 cards to make my Week 2 cards.

Tuesday Morning Sketches with Jess' College Fund Digi's

Hi folks,

It's a long weekend here in Canada and I did manage to scrape out a little craft room time to make this birthday card for a friend of ours. She is an avid photographer (here's a link to her photography business page on Facebook if you would like to check it out - beautiful shots of the local wildlife) and I thought this new image from Jess' College Fund Digi's would be perfect for her birthday card (though without glasses would have been better in this case).

I can't encourage you enough to stop by Jess' College Fund to check out the very reasonably priced digital images. I have all but one - the most recently released image since I have been crazy busy this weekend and haven't had time yet to purchase it. Will fix that later today!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base and mat (I've taken a liking to doing an extra mat in the same colour as my card base recently. Love the extra layer.). Brown textured card stock from Michael's for the mats.
  • patterned paper: Basic Grey "Sweet Threads"
  • digital image: Jess' College Fund "Jess Taking Pictures", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E02, E93, E04, E43, E47, E49, E39, E29, E77, E25, YG0000, YG01, YG21, YG23, T4, T6, T8) with a little white gelly roll accent on the camera lens. I also sponged around the image with CTMH Blush ink to pick up on the pink in the papers. Yes, I DO have a Copic Airbrush and it DOES sit in one of the towers of my desk. I really should take it out and leave it ON my desk and plugged in so I can use it more often. sigh. Just call me Queen of the unused tools!
  • sentiment: Verve "Borderline"
  • Spellbinders Petite Ovals
  • paper flowers and embroidery floss from my stash
  • layout: Tuesday Morning Sketches #223 (oops - should have uploaded yesterday to meet the posting deadline!)

Viva La Verve November Week 1

Hi folks,

Well, the crunch is on. It is already November and I am really far behind on my Christmas card making for this year. So much so that I think I better start scheduling some serious time in my craft room to get a few more cranked out.

At last weekend's crop, I brought the Week 1 sketch for the November Viva La Verve challenge with the intention of making a batch of cards. I did six with that sketch - and here they are!

Of course, I'm a bit of an idiot. I decided I wanted to paper-piece the trees. I stamped them and proceeded to manually cut them out before I realized that I actually have the DIE for the trees as well. Could have saved myself some time if I had remembered that sooner rather than later!

I kept these cards very CAS as they will be going into the post and we all know what buttons and bling do to cards for mailing - it makes them cost a lot more!

Happy Thoughts

Hi folks,

Last weekend I attended a crop and, of course, there were a couple of vendors there. I always have to check out the supplies they have for sale to see if anything catches my eye. Patterned papers are absolutely my biggest weakness when it comes to crafting and the papers I used on this card definitely caught my eye. So much so that I bought the papers at the crop AND set to making this card right away!

Celebrating Again with Yumi & Fumi Handmade!

Hi folks!

Today we are celebrating another design team member birthday over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog! Hip! Hip! Hooray!

Big birthday wishes are going out today to Cebelica! Be sure to stop by and wish her a happy birthday! I am sure she will be touched to read your birthday wishes.

I have it on the down low that Cebelica's favourite colours are blue, pink and brown. So, I gave Summer Fumi a pink and blue outfit to pick up on the colours in the Basic Grey Marjolaine papers I chose (yep - if you look closely you can see the pale pink in the argyle print!). Of course, the browns come from the kraft card stock and the ink for the sentiment.

Hope you are having a fantastic birthday, Cebelica, and that you get to celebrate all month long!

Happy Holidays from Yeti Yumi - SC458

Hi folks!

I'm finally back on the wagon, getting a few more Christmas cards ready for the coming season. At the crop I attended on Friday, I got out my Copics and coloured up Yeti Yumi for this card:

I have to say, this one is a fave. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way that I can gift it to myself instead of giving it away to someone! My dearly beloved commented that it looked a LOT like a friend of mine so I'm thinking I AM going to have to give this one away to her.

A couple of reminders before I give you the card details:
  • You still have lots of time to link up your cards for the Hallowe'en Colours over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog
  • Yumi & Fumi Handmade now have a company gallery over at SplitCoastStampers. Click on through to check out the fabulous creations already in the gallery. If you are a member over at SCS and upload your Y&FH creations, be sure to tag them with yumifumi so we can check them out! We're looking forward to seeing the gallery of inspiration grow!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, navy card stock mats
  • patterned papers: Bo Bunny "Blitzen"
  • stamped image: Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Yeti Yumi" coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E02, E93, E50, Y21, Y23, Y32, Y35, B97, B95, B93, B91, C6, Y13, R29, G07, B000). I added a little sparkle to the string of lights with my Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.
