Sister Act Card Challenge #46 - with Stamp 'n Create

Hi folks!

It's Friday so that means it is time for me to share my latest creation for our weekly "Anything Goes" challenge over at the Sister Act Card Challenge!

As you probably know by now, the rules for joining in our weekly challenge are pretty simple - anything goes as long as it is a new card of your own creation! Just join in the fun by linking up to your blog post featuring your lovely creation and you will be in the running for the prize offered by this week's sponsor - Stamp and Create! I can't wait to check our your fabulous creations!

My creation this week is a birthday card for a dear friend. We had been friends in high school but lost track of each other over the years as our lives went different routes. Well, through the magic of Facebook we found each other AND when she moved a little town on the outskirts of Ottawa, we reconnected. More than 20 years later! Isn't that fab?

Sister Act Card Challenge #43 - with Paper Nest Dolls

Just join in the fun by linking up to your blog post featuring your lovely creation and you will be in the running for the prize offered by this week's sponsor - PaperNestDolls! I can't wait to check our your fabulous creations!

For my creation this week, I'm using Cheerleader Ellie from Paper Nest Dolls.

I don't know about you but where I am (Ottawa, Canada) it's the middle of what seems like a VERY long, cold winter and I really needed to make a bright and cheerful card to chase away the winter greys. I'm planning on giving this card to one of the members of my T.O.P.S. weight loss support group as a message of encouragement. I reached my own goal more than a year ago so I know how difficult a struggle it can be to get to your goal and to maintain it.

card details:

  • finished size: 5x5 inches, white card stock base, bright pink card stock mats
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Summer Days"
  • digital image: Paper Nest Dolls Cheerleader Ellie, coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, E21, E23, E25, E27, RV02, RV04, RV06, RV09, C6) and a little sparkle was added to her pom poms with my Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.
  • sentiment: Verve "Borderline", stamped in CTMH Bubblegum
  • Spellbinders: Pinking Circles, Petite Circles
  • embellishments: adhesive gems from my stash

January Viva La Verve - Week 3

Hi folks,

back again with two more Christmas cards - this time using the Week 3 Sketch for the January Viva La Verve Challenge

I quite like this sketch and thought about doing a rotated version of the cards. I may yet do that.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, textured brown Bazzill for one of the mats
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Very Merry Christmas", edges inked with memento rick cocoa
  • stamps: Verve "Glad Tidings", stamped in memento rich cocoa, CTMH cranberry
  • Spellbinders Petite Circles, corner rounder punch
  • ctmh cranberry brads from my stash

January Viva La Verve - Week 2

Hi folks,

back again with the cards I made for the Week 2 sketch for the January Viva La Verve challenges.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I'm working on my Christmas cards for 2014 and decided to go with the flow and made two more Christmas cards with the week 2 sketch. I did deviate a little from the sketch on both cards. That little tab at the bottom left of the sketch wasn't working for me so I altered both cards.

On the first card, I moved the tab to highlight my sentiment.

And on the second, I put it off to the side with a different orientation.

I also have to admit that I am not happy with the cream coloured mats. They aren't quite the correct colour for this paper. Darn it. And I really can't go change them at this point. Though I am entertaining the idea of carefully colouring them with my Copics to change the colour We shall see.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, cream mats
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Very Merry Christmas"
  • stamps: Verve "Joyous Noel"
  • Spellbinders: petite circles, labels one

January Viva La Verve Week 1

Hi folks,

It's been a while since I played along with the Viva La Verve Sketch Challenges but I'm happy to say that I am back to playing along once again - just not very good about getting things posted!

I actually sat down on Friday as I had taken the day off from work and made cards for all five of this month's sketches so you will be seeing them on the blogarooni over the next few days. In fact, I actually decided to get a start on my CHRISTMAS cards for 2014 - since I was terrible last year and didn't mail out a single card.

For the Week 1 Sketch, I made these two cards:

I'm hoping to do better this year and stick to my promise to make ten Christmas cards per month. I totally didn't stick with it last year AT ALL.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, dark red card stock base
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Very Merry Christmas"
  • stamps: Verve "Holiday Greetings""Joyous Noel" (coloured with Copic Markers R37, R39, G94)
  • Spellbinders Petite Circles, Labels One
  • silver ric rac ribbon and brads from my stash

Yumi & Fumi Handmade Design Team Showcases

Hi folks,

It's Sunday and that would normally mean that I would be doing a Yumi & Fumi Handmade Team Fumi post for our latest challenge. Well, that's not what today's post is about.

In case you missed the announcement on Monday, Yumi & Fumi Handmade is taking a hiatus. Since the announcement, Leanne & Renate' have done all of us on the design teams a tremendous honour by individually showcasing our creations on the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog and I thought I would also share with all of you the fabulous talent showcased by the design team week after week.

I'll probably come back and link up to everyone's post once they have all been completed, but for now be sure to check out these posts featuring Team Yumi:

And these posts featuring Team Fumi:

If you are a frequent visitor then you may have noticed that there are a couple of cards featured in my post which you haven't seen before. Well, here they are again with all of their details!

I don't very often do "fancy folds" for my cards, but the Peek-a-Boo series seemed a natural fit for doing something other than my usual tent or side-fold card.

And you know I love the guys of Yumi & Fumi Handmade, especially Chase. He always looks great in his jacket and tie.
