A Valentine for SSS93

Hi folks,

here's another Valentine card I made using the same papers and image as in yesterday's card - coloured slightly different and with a different layout.

This card will be gifted to a friend of mine for Valentine's day. See what I meant yesterday about serving two purposes with one image? One for my sister, one for a friend!

Card details:
  • papers: Bo Bunny Love Bandit
  • stamped image: BFFABuggs from Stamping Bella coloured with Copic Markers (YG11, YG13, YG17, R37, RV10, RV11, RV13, E000, E00, E31, E34, E47, E55).
  • layout: The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog: SSS93 (I rotated it to make a horizontal card)
Additional challenges for this card:

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

A Valentine for Card Patterns Sketch 100

Hi folks (Second post for today so feel free to scroll down to see the earlier post).

Well, I have finally started making my Valentine cards for this year. I am trying to use up my Valentine themed papers that I bought last year and trying to resist the urge to buy new ones. It is getting rather late after all and if I buy new papers now, odds are they won't arrive until after it is too late for me to make cards and get them in the post. So, you are going to see last year's papers on this year's cards. (ETA - I must confess - I realized I HAVE ordered new Valentine papers - the January papercard kit from PWCO is en route to me with the new R.A.M. release of stamps. Guess I better save those for the local Valentine cards! tee hee hee)

That being said - I still think these "Love Bandit" papers by Bo Bunny are still some of the nicest Valentine themed papers I have ever seen. You can actually still get them from PaperWorksCo if you are like me and just love this combination of dark brown, pink, white and red. I am still tempted to order more of these - I'm down to my last couple of partial 12x12 sheets of this paper and really do wish I had more (straight from the lips of a paper-hoarder I know).

Now, how cute are these little BFFaBuggs from StampingBella? I picked up this cute little stamp because I thought it could work nicely for a sister card OR for a friend card. Frugal of me, huh? As it happens, this card will be for my sister for Valentine's day.

    additional card details:
    • image is coloured with Copic Markers (YG11, YG13, YG17, R37, RV10, RV11, RV13, E000, E00, E47, E55)
    challenges for this card:

Hope your weekend is winding up nicely. I'll have another card featuring this image and papers for you tomorrow!

Mojo Monday 175 for Sparkle's Christmas Challenge #9

    Hi folks,

I found some time to get card crafty today (although I was itching to pick up my knitting!) and decided to make two more Christmas cards for this week's Christmas Card Challenge from Sparkle - to use a transparency.

I used a transparency for the base of both cards. Portions of what you see on these cards are actually the inside of the card. Care to guess which parts are inside and which parts are on the front?

Here's a couple of pictures from the side so you can see the transparency card base a little better.

That's right - the image panel, the patterned rectangular panel and twill ribbon are actually on the front of the card. The larger panels are actually on the inside - with another matching rectangle hidden inside to write a personal greeting.

I do like making transparent cards - my sweetie also really likes them and always says how much he likes this type of card.

    Additional details:
    • papers: CTMH Magnifique
    • stamps: CTMH Snow Friends
    • spellbinders petite circles
    • Copics used: B000, R39, E25, E33, E35, E37
    • layout: Mojo Monday 175
    additional challenges for this card:
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

January Viva La Verve Week 3

    Hi folks,

Here's my card using the Week 3 sketch from the January 2011 Viva la Verve challenges:

I WAS happy with this card until I took a closer look and realized that the two pieces of twill are just slightly different in colour. grrrr. And too late to change it as everything is very well taped down. Oh well. Live and learn. I STARTED out using two pieces from the same larger piece of twill but then I made a booboo stamping the leaf on the bottom piece. So I took out another piece of twill and stamped again....I SHOULD  have redone the top piece as well....grrr. That's what I get for assuming they were the same colour.

The flower is paper-pieced and popped up with dimensionals.

    card details:
    • layout: Viva la Verve January Week 3
    • papers: Basic Grey Granola (you can expect to see LOTS of this paper as I bought a 12x12 pad and we all know how long it takes to use those up!)
    • stamps: Verve Great Friend
    Other challenges for this card:
    • Do you stack up? Challenge #4: Patterned Paper (I used four different ones from the BG Granola collection)
ta ta for now! Hope you all have a great weekend!

January Viva La Verve Week 2

        Hi folks,

so I sat down tonight and whipped out three cards for the last three sketches for the January Viva La Verve Challenges. Up first, a Christmas card.

        card details:
        • sketch: January Viva La Verve Week 2
        • papers: Basic Grey Jovial
        • stamps: Verve Poinsettia Christmas
        • spellbinders: petite ovals
        • lemongrass ribbon from my stash (I kind of like the little pop of colour)
        additional challenges for this card:
        • Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #8 - No coloring! Nope. None. I paper-pieced the poinsettia by stamping it three times on the wordy red paper in the Jovial stack and then cut out each layer a little differently. Stuck them together with glue dots to give a little dimension.

I'll be scheduling the other two cards to post on Friday and Saturday....

thanks for visiting! Ta ta for now!

          Copic class at Art Mad

          Hi folks,

I know, I've been quiet for a while but just wanted to pop in and let you know that a local (for now) exceptionally crafty gal, Danielle, is teaching a beginner introduction to Copic markers at Art Mad in Stittsville on February 19th.

I'm sure she would love to see you and your friends in the class! The details aren't up yet on the store site but I am sure that if you were to give them a call or stop by, you could find out all the pertinent information. I'll be giving them a call or dropping in myself hopefully before the weekend is out!

Now to go up to the craft room and do a little card making - I'm hoping to do the Viva la Verve challenge cards tonight AND play with my new Scotch ATG! (yes I broke down and got one - 50% off coupon for Michaels this week so....)

AND.....I'm going to play with knitting again this weekend. One of the girls from my Booty Camp class is in a knitting group and they are meeting at one of the local cafes on Saturday - so she asked if I would like to come along. Now, I haven't knit in years...and I don't do so very well. But....I figured why not? I even picked up some wool, needles and patterns to refresh my fingers before Saturday!

          Busy Busy!

          Simply Betty Challenge #3

Hi folks, back with another of the cards I made this weekend, this time using this week's sketch challenge from Simply Betty Stamps.

          card details:
          • digital image from Simply Betty Stamps. It's a special image for a special cause for Betty's own daughter so be sure to check out this post for the details so you can pick up one of your own!
          • coloured with Copic Markers (YG13, G21, YR12, YR16, RV02, RV04, E000, E00, E01, E02, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, W7, BV000, BV00, BV02, BV04, BV08)
          • papers: CTMH Hooligans (I went with the bright purple, green and orange because I had asked Betty if Rio had any favourite colours).
          • Buttons and Brads - CTMH Pear
          • sentiment: Verve Birthday Bash
          • Spellbinders: Petite Ovals (Sm and Lg)

          Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #6

          Hi folks,

here are two more of my Christmas cards for 2011 (that brings me up to ELEVEN now), this time using the week #139 sketch from Sketch Saturday.

          card details:
          • papers: DCWV Holiday Stack
          • stamped image: Snowie with Bells from Magnolia stamps, coloured with Copic Markers (Y28, Y23, Y21, W5, G99, B000, B00, B02, R37, R39)
          • Spellbinders: Petite Circles (Sm and Lg), Fancy Tags
          • sentiment: CTMH Snow Flurries. Tip: the sentiment I used is actually much longer than what you see on the cards above. I used a sponge dauber to only apply ink to the section I wanted. Much neater than trying to use the ink pad and then having to wipe off where I accidentally got ink on the stamp.

          Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #7

          Hi folks,

These two cards bring my 2011 Christmas card count up to NINE already! Thanks to Sparkle for her weekly Christmas Card Challenge!

A Special Image from Simply Betty Stamps

          Hi Everybody,

If you are a regular visitor to my blog then you know that I have the first collection of rubber stamps from Simply Betty Stamps. I also subscribe to the company blog and saw this post today.

Betty's own daughter, Rio, is about to have a birthday and wanted to share with OTHER kids on her birthday. So, there is a special edition digi now available, with proceeds going to Rio's charity of choice - the children of St. Jude's hospital. The digi is gorgeous and inexpensive - and perfect for a teen or pre-teen girl birthday.

Betty would also love it if those of you who buy the stamp would use it to make a card to send to her daughter, to make her day extra special.

I've already ordered mine and downloaded the image - won't you?

          I had forgotten

....that I had signed up a few weeks back to be part of the ColorBok Club (ETA - here is the link to the survey I filled out. Not sure if it is still active or not but worth a try at least if you like some free crafting stuff from time to time.)

I had a surprise consisting of their "Truffle" paper stack waiting for me when I got home today - can you say yummy? A delicious concoction of various chocolate coloured papers.....can't wait to play! I'm long overdue for a card-making session!

          Tuesday, January 18, 2011

          I'm baaaack....

          but not yet crafting.....

In fact, for two days after getting back from our cruise, this is what I did....

spent some serious time making up for lost cuddles with the kittehs. Lots of naps were had -- and yes, I see in this pic that I still look tired! The kittehs might have to be surgically removed at this point as they have not left my side since I returned home. They have always been little cling-ons but are even more so now with our week long absence.

Hopefully will get back to crafting on the weekend - a yummy PWCO package arrived while I was away filled with all sorts of crafty goodness! Can't wait to tuck into it!

          Happy Birthday Newton!

Our youngest cat turns three on January 8 but we had to have his birthday celebration on Thursday as we won't be here.

He's the "big spoon" in this picture I snapped of him and his older companion Packet (the "little spoon") on Thursday afternoon.

How cute is this? With his front paw draped over his buddy, sleeping on their Momma's wrap. Had to grab the camera for a quick pic before they changed position.

This is the card I made for his birthday (yes, I am a crazy cat lady). We're holding out on the Tuna for dinner celebration until we get back - but he did get his birthday present - an extension for one of their toys and some new catnip toys.

          card details:
          • stamped image: from Totally Stampalicious: Bugaboo Stamps by Jody Mackrell. Coloured with Copic markers YR14, Y13, Y15, Y17, YG13, R85, R20, W1, W3, W5
          • papers: Echo Park "A Walk in the Park" from a previous month's PaperCard kit from PaperWorksCo.
          • spellbinders: petite circles
          • ribbon from my stash
          • layout: Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog SSS89
Have a lovely week - no posts from me for a while as I will be away from blog-land.

            SFYTT for January 2011

            Hi folks,

back today with the last of the cards I made on Monday. I finally had a chance to ink up Sweet Anya (I won her from TGF for my Toby Snowglobe creation a few weeks back).

So have you noticed a trend with my last four posts? Yep, multiples! I am going to try really hard this year to make multiples of my cards. Not exact duplicates, but I'll try to switch up either the image or the papers or maybe rotate the layout. I tried last year but was kind of haphazard about it. With the TGFcards, my sister may finally get the set I have been promising her for the last two years!

            • stamped image: Sweet Anya from The Greeting Farm coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, RV02, RV04, Y11, BG45, BG49. The dark brown hair is E57, E47 and E49. The light brown hair is E34, E57 and E47.)
            • stamped sentiments: Verve Birthday Bash
            • papers: Echo Park's A Walk in the Park from one of the PaperCard Kits from PaperWorksCo.
            • Spellbinders: Classic Rectangles, Petite Circles (Small and Large)
            • cards measure 5.5 x 5.5 inches
            • layout: January SFYTT from

Viva La Verve January Week 1

            Hi folks,

so here are three more of the cards I made on Monday - this time using the first sketch for the January 2011 Viva La Verve Challenges (I'm going to do my best to play along every week). I did not make a long card as is shown in the sketch but stuck with a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card. I also omitted the embellie on the upper left corner of the sentiment panel since I wanted the card to be a little cleaner for guys.

I made three of these as I needed two masculine birthday cards this week and figured it would be good to have one in my stash for when I'm too busy or not feeling the card-making mojo.

            • papers: CTMH Sarsaparilla
            • stamps: Verve Wishing You
            • corner rounder punch was used to round the edges on the sentiment panel
            • half-back pearls from my stash
            • twill tape from my stash
Hope you are all having a lovely day! I have the day off in the hopes of getting everything ready for our cruise - pack, clean house, write up instructions for our {beloved} cat/house sitter, maybe take down the Christmas tree -- oh and take care of some actual day-job work from home (thank goodness I can work from home). I HAD planned on doing some of that stuff last night but came down with a truly WICKED headache after work yesterday and didn't do a darn thing.

            ta ta for now!

            WOYWW - Jan 5th and PWCO SS#63

            Hi folks,

It's time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday! If you don't know what WOYWW is all about, check out Julia's post at the Stamping Ground.

My usual detritus from a creative spurt - stamps not yet put away from the cards I made on Monday (and, I must confess, late last week) but I did put away the stamp I used before taking this picture on Tuesday night.

Regular visitors might notice I now have TWO lamps on my desk - one of which is my new OTT light that my sweetie got me for Christmas. The one with the round dome is a magnifying lamp (the dome opens so you can see through). My new Android tablet is hanging out between the lamps. Theoretically so I DON'T have to bring my laptop to the craft room - still haven't broken that habit though.

Let's see what else - my case of daubers, a sketch I hope to get around to this week but I doubt it since I still have to pack for our cruise - and we leave on Friday!

So would you like to see the card I made before I took this picture of my desk?

Friends of ours had a baby recently and we are hoping to pay them a visit before we leave on Friday so I made this "Welcome Baby" card to go with the baby gift.

            Card details:
            • stamped image: Lucas the Lion from PaperWorksCo coloured with Copic Markers (YR12, YR14, YR65)
            • sentiment: Verve Practically Perfect
            • papers: 3Bugs in a Rug Animal Stackers
            • buttons: CTMH Goldrush
            • Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles (Small and Large)
            • layout: PaperWorksCo Sunday Sketch #63
            additional challenges for this card:

Now, you should pop over to Julia's blog to see who else is playing along this week.

                Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #5

Hi folks, well, I sat down today and made NINE cards - getting in as much crafty time before we head out on Friday for our cruise!

These first two are for Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #5 - {Embossing}. I am trying hard to use up all the images I already have coloured (from this year AND last year) so I pulled out these two along with my hoarded Cosmo Cricket papers. Honestly, if I NEVER buy more Christmas paper I will still not run out, even making 100 plus Christmas cards every year! Oh, and I AM going to be late with challenge #6 as I will be gone all next week so won't get to play along until I get back.

If you are looking for the embossing part of the card, it's on the white horizontal strip. I used the Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder to dry emboss the strip and then inked it with CTMH Baby Pink ink using a dauber.

                additional details:
                • cards measure 6x6 inches
                • stamped images: The Christmas Freckle Collection from PaperWorksCo (if you like these but don't have them in your collection, Peggy has them on sale AND if you combine that with the other sale that's on right now, you could get these for a real steal of price - details below on the sale)
                • papers: Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly
                • layout: Sketch and Stash #52
                • Spellbinders: Petite Circles (Small and Large)
                • I used my sewing machine again! Wow!
                Additional challenges for these cards:

Details about the PaperWorksCo Sale (from Peggy's email today)

                  Sparkle's 2011 Christmas Card Challenge #4

Hi folks (second post for today, feel free to scroll down to see the previous post)

well, I am just under the wire with these two cards I made for the 2011 Christmas Card Challenge #4 from Sparkle.

Again, I made two cards for the challenge. By the way - must fess up, I wound up taking one of each of the two cards I made for the three previous challenges and using them for Christmas 2010. So, instead of already having six cards for next year, I am down to three (plus these two).

The challenge this week was to CASE one of the cards from the DT. I CASEd Alanna's card (which was itself a CASE of Peggy's).

                  • stamped images: Pink Cat Studio coloured with PrismaColor Pencils
                  • papers: DCWV Holiday Collection "The Christmas Stack"
                  • butcher's twine
                  • Martha Stewart Punch for the decorative edge.

                    Additional Challenges for these cards:

                      Happy New Year!

                      Hi folks,

I figured it was only fitting that my first card of the New Year would be for my sweetie.
