Father's Day 2019

Hi folks,

Just thought I would pop in and share the Father's Day cards I made this year.

I kept it simple - all four cards use the "Into The Wild" collection from Close To My Heart - I just played about with the paper choices and layouts. The sentiment is a mini - also from Close To My Heart.

As always - thanks for stopping by!

May Cross Canada Blog Hop

Hi folks!

Welcome to our May Blog Hop featuring our favourite new paper collections. We have four new amazing and fun paper collections in the current Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book.

We have an amazing group of talented ladies all across Canada and they would sure love to hear from you. So, before you hopping along to the next stop in the hop, be sure to leave a comment about what you loved.

If you've arrived from Caroline's blog then you are in the right place. If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop and travel from East to West, you can start here.

As I may a LOT of masculine cards, I immediately fell in love with the Jack collection. Here's a peek at the paper pack.

I love, love, love those plaids!

With Father's Day coming next month, I put my Jack collection to good use making Father's Day cards. Note that all four of these cards are 6 x 6 cards.

For this first card, I was inspired by the layout on page 37 of the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book. I think it translated very well from a scrapbook layout into a card sketch. I just replaced the photo image with the lumberjack die cut from the Jack scrapbooking stamp + Thin Cuts bundle and used the sentiments from the Jack cardmaking stamp + Thin Cuts bundle.

For the second card, I used the layout for one of the cards from the WYW Father's Day Cardmaking Kit with a black 6x6 card base.

For the third card, I once again took inspiration from a scrapbook page layout. This time from page 34 of the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book. I switched up the papers but stuck with the colour blocking technique. And I just HAD to use that cute, cuddly bear from the Jack cardmaking stamp + Thin Cuts bundle.

And for my final card, I was inspired by one of the cards from the optional cardmaking project from the Jack WYW Scrapbooking kit. You can see those cards on page 39 of the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book. For this card though, you can see that I used a different mix of papers from the one in the idea book. I REALLY wanted to use those trees, plaid and axe print papers.

Now, don't let my focus on Father's Day cards dissuade you from thinking that once Father's Day is done, that you won't be able to use the Jack collection. I'm already planning to re-make these cards as birthday cards. AND -- there's something about those plaids and the trees that have me thinking Christmas. Stay tuned! There might be Christmas cards coming from these papers!

To purchase any of the items you see along the hop today, be sure to get in touch with your local consultant.

Your next stop in the hop is Diana! I'm sure you will have a fantastic time over at her blog as well!

If you get lost along the way, you can head on over to Michelle S blog as she has the full list of hop participants.

Thanks for hopping along with us today. We hope we were able to inspire you to get creative using some of the designs, products, and techniques you saw along the way. We hope you will be able to join us again next month when we will be featuring creations using up our stash with some new products.  So mark June 15th on your calendars and hop along with us.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

First Love, First Hero

Hi folks,

I'm a little late sharing this year's Father's Day cards but I promise to share them over the next few days.

Up first is the card I made for my Dad.

Simple, no fuss. I think this could also work as a birthday card - or just because.

Still playing with the CTMH Jackson Papers

Hi folks,

I guess it is safe to say that my posting schedule has been rather hit or miss lately. I've had these four Jackson cards sitting here waiting to be posted but just have not gotten around to writing the post.

These first two are for the stash.

And these last two are a couple more Father's Day cards.

This one for my Dad.

I actually modified the last card slightly after photographing it for this post. I added three little paper roses above the twine knot - as this card was ultimately given to my sister on Father's Day. It's a little something I do for her each year.

Hi folks,

Stopping in today to share the card I made for my Dad for Father's Day. It's another of my clean and simple cards - no colouring!

Once again, using the CTMH Timberline collection. Perfect for masculine cards don't you think? If you are interested in purchasing this or any other items from the current Idea book, I recommend you stop by the online portal sooner rather than later! The retiring product list has been released and loads of products from the current Idea book are slated for retirement. The new ANNUAL - that's right, ANNUAL book will be released in August with loads of new crafty goodies!

Viva La Verve June 2014 Week 1

Hi folks

With Father's Day just around the corner, I figured I should share a couple of the cards I made for the occasion.

This one is for my brother. I'm sure he will get a kick out of the tile with the moose on it - since he lives in my home province of Newfoundland which is OVERRUN with moose.

The second card will be given to dearly beloved's Dad. I thought the plaid pattern would be great - not quite the family tartan colours but.....

If you are interested in purchasing the CTMH products used on these cards, just stop by my online portal and search for Timberline!

Viva La Verve - May Week 4

Hi folks,

I am back again to share another of this year's Father's Day cards. This one was for dearly beloved's step-brother.

Very clean and simple. The two little banners (though you can't see it in the photo) are actually curled a little to add some dimension to an otherwise simple card.

Hey Daddy-O!

Hi folks,

back today with the Father's Day card for my Dad that sort of goes with the card I made for my Mom for her birthday.

I had to have this stamp for two reasons.

First off, it reminds me of one of my favourite photos of my Dad from his younger years. He is very casually lounging at a kitchen table, beer in one hand, cigarette in  the other, his sneaky grin on his face, dressed in a black leather jacket, white t-shirt and jeans. His hair is all slicked back and he has on his Buddy Holly glasses.

And second, the motorcycle. My dearly beloved's current motorcycle looks a lot like this one. Very retro, with a pretty pale cream tank. He will absolutely be getting a card using this stamp at some point in the future.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base
  • patterned paper: My Mind's Eye "Sunshine"
  • stamped image: "Danny" from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, coloured with Copic Markers (W0, W1, W3, W5, W6, W7, W9, E000, E00, E01, B91, B93, B95, B97
  • sentiments: Verve "Purely Sentimental", Hey Daddy-O came with the Danny image.
  • metal screw-like brads from my stash (these have been in my crafty stash for a LONG time and usually make an appearance on at least one Father's Day card every year or so).
  • Spellbinders Classic Squares
  • layout: Card Crafter's Circle #78

The last Father's Day card of 2012

Hi folks,

back again with the last of this year's Father's Day cards!

For this one I used the Week 1 Sketch for the Viva La Verve June Challenges over at SCS

Here is the sketch:

And this is the card:

This one was for dearly beloved's Dad - he "collects" old pickup trucks and I thought this would be a nice image for his card. In fact, when I saw this stamp set, I had to have it because I knew it would be great for cards for him. This was the first time I used it.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey Marjolaine
  • stamps: Tim Holtz "The Journey", CTMH "Wonderful Friend" and inside, though I forgot to take a photo, I used Verve's "Purely Sentimental"
  • ribbon from my stash
  • Spellbinders Petite Circles
I'm hoping I find some time in the next few days to do some paper-crafting again. Our nieces and nephews are all finishing up their school year and I REALLY need to make them some cards. But I've booked today, Thursday and Friday off to make jam. Probably jamming on Saturday as well....and then off to the Lombardy Rodeo on Sunday with dearly beloved's family. yee haw!

Thanks for stopping by!

Another Father's Day card

Hi folks,

back again as promised with another of this year's Father's Day cards. For this one I used the Mojo 245 sketch from last week.

Here's the sketch

and here's the card.

At first I thought the sketch might be a bit too busy for me. But I really like how the card turned out.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back again tomorrow with the last Father's Day card!

knock knock. Is this thing on?

Hi folks!

Long time, no bloggy for me! And no crafty either. I haven't really felt like crafting much lately - been spending time getting the garden planted and lots of other fun things. Have had a couple of REALLY GREAT weekends so far this spring - been keeping plenty busy.

Anyways, figured I should get around to posting the last of this year's Father's Day cards, even though Father's Day has now come and gone. So, for the next couple of days, I'll have a daily post.

For this card, I used the Mojo Monday Sketch #243 from a couple of weeks ago.

I went with a square card, of course.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey Marjolaine (hope you aren't sick of it yet - I have two more Father's Day cards that I used this on and I am really trying to use up this paper. Since I have three packs of it - one 12x12 and two 6x6 pads.....that might take a while)
  • stamps: Verve "Purely Sentimental" and "Big Wish"
  • brads from my stash (I REALLY had to dig around to find those three perfectly matched brads for this card. I recently knocked over my case I had my brads sorted in ... and now they are all mixed together....not happy about that. grrrr.)
  • die cuts: Spellbinders Petite Circles and Classic Squares, Verve Ribbon Banner Die
additional challenges for this card:
Thanks for coming by for a visit, I know it's a busy time of year - more fun to be outside than to be inside blog surfing!

  • brads from my stash
Thanks for stopping by!

May 2012 Viva La Verve Week 4

Hi folks,

I squeezed in some time tonight - after work AND after gardening - to finish up the last two sketches from the May Viva La Verve Challenges.

For the Week 4 Sketch

I again made a birthday card and a Father's Day card (June is a busy month for me for masculine cards)

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey Marjolaine, distressed the edges with my scissors
  • stamps: Verve Small Celebrations, Super Dad

May 2012 Viva La Verve Week 3

Hi folks!

Miss me? I know - it's been over a week since I last posted. It's gardening season and I feel like I am WAY behind on getting things done around the yard. If you are a friend on Facebook then you have seen the progress so far on the veggie garden and flower beds. I still have two of the larger flower beds left to prep and then I will be ready to plant the new annuals and perennials I have waiting on the front step to be planted. OI! Not to mention that I have to give all the berry bushes a healthy layer of manure and peat moss...AND I want to edge the flower beds with stones from our neighbouring farm that is no longer. Big sad face at the loss of the farm.....

ANYWAYS....back to today's cards. I'm playing catch-up on the May Viva La Verve Sketches from Verve's SCS forum. With these cards I am up to Week 3 - not sure if I will get the last two in before the midnight deadline on May 31st. Oh well....can't do it all I suppose.

Here is the week 3 sketch

and the two cards I made. The first one is a birthday card for a co-worker who celebrates tomorrow (YAY!!! cake!!!! -- I ALWAYS buy birthday cakes for my co-workers to celebrate -- what can I say, I love cake...and I like MOST of my co-workers)

And this Father's Day card - not sure yet which of our brothers (or maybe brother-in-law) will get this one but...it will be one of them!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey Marjolaine (oddly enough, I used this same paper collection for some of this year's Mother's Day cards!)
  • stamps: Verve "Joyful Blooms", "Super Dad", "Purely Sentimental"
  • dies: Verve "Rounded Rectangle" & "Ribbon Banner Die", Spellbinders Petite Circles
  • waxy flax hand-stitched on the Father's Day card

additional challenges for these cards:

Thanks for stopping by! Hopefully I can squeeze in some crafty time after work tomorrow to get those last two Verve sketch challenges done!

PWCO SS#85 for Father's Day

Hi folks,

I know - ANOTHER Father's Day card! What can I say, if I do Mother's day cards for all the women in  our family then it is only fair that I make Father's day cards for all the guys.

I think this one looks rather sharp, don't you? Personally, I love a guy in a nicely pressed shirt, tie (optional) and pants. Casual elegance.
