Crop & Create - Colour Suite Challenge

Hi folks,

well, this weekend I attended the Crop & Create Ottawa Event hosted by Scrapbook & Cards Today.  I was quite excited to be attending even though none of my crafty pals were able to join me. I'm absolutely exhausted today so I am keeping this post short. I had 3 hours of sleep Friday night and 2 spurts of 3 hours of sleep each this morning so....yawn.....lucky I had this post sitting in draft mode.

As part of the event, there were several challenges which were pre-posted so we could gather up our supplies, work on them at the crop or finish them ahead of time. It's a nice mix of challenges - for both scrap-bookers and card-makers. I stuck to my strength - card-making. The scrap-booking challenges are definitely good ones but scrap-booking is definitely not my area of expertise.

The Colour Suite challenge is suited to either scrap-bookers OR card-makers. Simply create a project using the following colour palette:

As luck would have it, my dear friend Tanya had gifted me with a collection of papers and embellishments from My Mind's Eye that contains exactly these colours! Sweet!

I'd love to chat about the fun that was had at Crop & Create but I truly am pooped. I imagine I'll have some stuff to share in the next week once I find time to unpack and photograph the projects I was working on or completed at the event. I took part in three fantastic classes and, you know me, I didn't finish a single thing from those classes. I DID get three of my own cards finished and started colouring several other images which need to be finished up and turned into cards.

The next several weeks are filled with birthdays and anniversarys in my family so you should be seeing quite a few posts from me on the old blogarooni in the next month or so. I know I have done several posts in the last couple of days. I could have spread them out over the next few days but I am going to be busy getting ready for Crop & Create Ottawa so I'm just getting these all out of the way ahead of time.

Up first in the line-up of family occasions is a card for my sister's youngest daughter. She is going to be all of two years old on Friday (her eldest child will be eighteen exactly a month later!)

Viva La Verve September Week 4

Viva La Verve September - Week 3

So there was a change in my plans for this week. I unexpectedly had Tuesday and Wednesday off from work. It was for a good reason - dearly beloved's Dad and brother were at our house getting a start on replacing all of the shingles. Yesterday I provided ground-level support but today I was able to squeeze in some craft room time.

For a little princess

edited to add: some of the comments mentioned the red on this card. I should clarify - the mats are actually more of a dark bright pink - I think the colour is just a touch off in the picture, making it look more red than it actually is.

Back to school - again!

Hi folks

I'm back with another of the back to school cards. This one for my eldest niece who, at the ripe old age of 17, is starting college this year (she won't be 18 until the end of October). Those  of you who are frequent visitors will recognize the image - I used the same one (coloured differently) for a card for one of my other nieces as well.

CPS281 - well it started that way

Hi folks,

I managed to get myself into the craft room again today - though I wasn't really all that keen. Kind of had the ho-hums - tethered to the house because of being on pager duty AND my dearly beloved is battling a nasty cold/flu.

I did finish up a couple more of the back-to-school cards.

For this one I STARTED out with the CPS281 sketch for this week....

but I kind of ... drifted. The central horizontal panel wound up a little bigger ... okay, a LOT bigger.

And here's a detail shot so you can see the popped up stars. The base star/rainbow is popped up and then a second star has been popped up on top of that.

Going Places

Hi folks,

when Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps released their first Kraft Klubhouse set "Going Places", I just had to have it. But it is kind of sad that I am just now getting around to inking up one of the images, months later!

All three of the images in the set had special significance for me and, when I do get around to inking up the other two, I'll explain the reason for each of them. For now, I HAD to have this image because I thought it would be perfect a card for my dearly beloved's Mom.

I have to say, I am VERY pleased with the red hair. Granted, dearly beloved's Mom is more of a strawberry blonde but I thought a little punch up on the colour would be okay.
