Dad's Memory Book - Love through the Years

This is the partner page to the other one of my parents. These two, along with the covers, back the pages with the kids and grandkids. For this one, I used photos of my parents throughout the years. It's always fun to guess the year based on my Mom's hairstyle!

The biggest challenge for this page - finding pictures of my Mom where she is not blinking!
Again, another layout of my own design. Almost a film-strip kind of feel to this one.

Here is my recipe for this layout:

All DP is from the "It's a Guy Thing" Level 2 Paper Pack, the cardstock is also CTMH in the coordinating colours.

Photos:
2 - 3 x 3 inches
3 - 2 x 2 inches

Cardstock:
Desert Sand: 9x9 inches

Designer Paper:
Brown Polka Dot: 2.5 x 2.5 inches, 5 x 8.5 inches
Beige Canvas: 3.5 x 3.5 inches, 3.5 x 8.5 inches

Accessories: Paper Garden Ties from Lee Valley, Large Brown Brads

Dad's Memory Book - Wedding Day

The other thing I love about scrapping old family pictures - my Mom and Dad's wedding pictures. My Mom is pretty short (barely 5 feet and shrinking - or maybe my heels are just getting higher) and I think she just looks adorable standing next to my Dad with his Buddy Holly glasses. She must have been wearing high heels in this picture!

Nearly forty years ago - aren't they too cute?

This layout is one of my own making. I had picked up this roll of paper garden ties at Lee Valley with the express purpose of using it for paper crafting projects. I thought the colours would work just perfectly with this paper pack. I adhered it to the pages with double-sided template tape (also from Lee Valley). That stuff is THE ABSOLUTE strongest double-sided tape I have in my stash of adhesives. No mistakes allowed when using that stuff. That's why it is my go-to adhesive for things I definitely don't want detaching. When I actually put all of these pages onto the accordion book, that's what I used.

And here are the details of the layout:

All DP is from the "It's a Guy Thing" Level 2 Paper Pack, the cardstock is also CTMH in the coordinating colours.

Photo:
5 x 5 inches

Cardstock:
Desert Sand: 9x9 inches

Designer Paper:
Beige Canvas: 8.5 x 8.5 inches
Brown Polka Dot: 5.5 x 5.5 inches

Sentiment: CTMH February Word Puzzle (D1269)

Ink: Cocoa

Accessories: Paper Garden Ties from Lee Valley, Large Brown Brad

Dad's Memory Book - Grandpa

Or....more appropriately "Who needs a chesterfield when you have a Poppy?"

I PROBABLY should have titled this "Poppy" instead of Grandpa as that IS what the kids call my Dad. It's what I called my GrandFather's too...well, Pop when I got a bit older.

This layout is from CTMH: Reflections "Bottom Border - Footnotes"

All DP is from the "It's a Guy Thing" Level 2 Paper Pack, the cardstock is also CTMH in the coordinating colours.

Photo:
4 x 6 inches

Cardstock:
New England Ivy: 9x9 inches, .75 x 12 inches (crimped and trimmed to 8.5 inches)
Garden Green: 4.5 x 6.5 inches, 1.5 x 8.5 inches

Designer Paper:
Barn Red Funky: 8.5 x 8.5 inches
Stripe: 3 x 8.5 inches

Accessories: Garden Green Ribbon from CTMH, Barn Red Brads, my own chipboard letters using the "You're not the boss of me" alphabet for the cuttlebug.

Dad's Memory Book - The GrandKids Montage

So this page is the reason why this book wasn't waiting for my Dad as his Father's Day gift when he got back from his most recent trip to sea on June 26th. I scoured through my photos - physical and digital and found I did NOT have a picture of him, alone, with his youngest grandchild, my niece Hayley. Add to that my sister had lost most of HER digital photos due to a computer crash. So I finally got around to asking Mom to look through hers and she found one from Dad's birthday this year. My brother's dearly beloved was a SWEETHEART and e-mailed me the photo I used for this layout AND the one on the companion page. Memory book complete!

As you might guess, my Dad is definitely an outdoorsy kind of person and loves imparting that to the kids so I figured I would use some of those photos in this layout. Enough chatty - here's the details of this page.

Layout: CMTH Reflections: Quartet - Perfect Square

All DP is from the "It's a Guy Thing" Level 2 Paper Pack, the cardstock is also CTMH in the coordinating colours.

Photos:
4 - 3.5 x 3.5 inches

New England Ivy: 9x9 inches, another square for the sentiment panel, not sure of the dimensions.
Garden Green: a square for the sentiment panel, not sure of the dimensions.

Designer Paper:
Barn Red Funky Dots - 8.5 x 8.5 inches
Brown Polka Dot: 2 - 3.75 x 3.75 inches

Dad's Memory Book - Our Dad

Yes, we were children of the 70s - if you haven't figured that out already! Tee hee hee (technically, I was born in 1969 but....that's a minor detail). I think the thing I enjoy most about scrapping the old photos is seeing these older "fashions" and hairstyles - and 'stache styles DAD!!!

That doll I am holding? That's my Bionic Woman - in her sparkly gold evening wear!
The other funny thing about these photos - the smiles. To this day, we still have them. I call them "The Brooks' Dirty Grins". The three of us have them and they all come from my Dad!

Anyways, on to the details.

The sketch is from CTMH Reflections and is called "Main Frame - Tied Together"

All DP is from the "It's a Guy Thing" Level 2 Paper Pack, the cardstock is also CTMH in the coordinating colours.

Photo:
4 x 6 inches

Cardstock:
Barn Red: 9 x 9 inches, 4.5 x 6.5 inches
Garden Green: 1.5 x 12 inches (crimped then trimmed to 8.5), 4.25 x 6.25 inches

Designer Paper:
Stripe: 5 x 8.5 inches
Green: 3.5 x 8.5 inches, .75 x 8.5 inches

Accessories: my own "chipboard" letters made from thin chipboard then covered with the Funky Patterned Barn Red DP. The letters were cut using the "You're Not The Boss Of Me" Alphabet dies for my cuttlebug. My Xyron Sticker Maker came in handy for then attaching the DP letters to the chipboard letters and then putting THOSE onto the layout.

Dad's Memory Book - The Kids Montage

For the inside of the book that expands out to four pages, I decided to do two pages with Dad and his kids and two pages with Dad and his grand-children. Obviously, this is the first of the pages with us, his kids.

This layout is one of my own making. I cropped the photos down with my Small Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities. The sentiments you see on the page are actually cut from the "wordy" sheet of DP from the "It's a Guy Thing Paper Pack" from CTMH.

Here is my recipe for this layout:

All DP is from the "It's a Guy Thing" Level 2 Paper Pack, the cardstock is also CTMH in the coordinating colours.

Photos:
3 - 2 1/8 x 2 7/8 inches

Cardstock:
Barn Red: 9x9 inches,2 5/8 x 3 3/8 inches
Garden Green: 2 3/8 x 3 1/8 inches

Designer Paper:
Green : 8.5 x 8.5 inches
Stripe: 1.5 x 8.5 inches

Dad's Memory Book - The Back Cover

For the back cover of my Dad's Memory Book, I thought I would use a photo of the grand-parents with their four grandchildren.

Again, the layout idea came from the pre-printed layout pages from the "It's a Guy Thing" paper pack from CTMH, but I cut my papers myself. I love having the CTMH catalogues as a resource. CTMH calls them "idea books" and they really are just that - a lovely resource for layout and card ideas.

Dad's Memory Book - The Front Cover

Happy Canada Day all, time to catch up on some posts!

For the front cover of my Dad's memory book, I used a photo of my Mom and Dad with their three kids - myself and my younger sister and brother.
