Birthday Wishes

Hi folks,

Card maker confession time - I've gotten really bad about getting cards out on time for birthday celebrations. Part of it is lack of mojo, part of it is feeling tired and drained all the time, part of it is having to find just the right image and paper. I'm playing catch up this weekend so you can expect to see a few more better late than never cards in the coming days.

Anyways, this card is for my niece who celebrated her birthday back in July. She's in Ottawa this coming week for a sport camp with Encounters Canada so I will be able to give the card to her in person during our very limited visit time. They keep a close eye on the kids during their week here but her parents were able to give us permission to take her offsite for a couple of hours Monday night.

card details:

  • finished size: 6 x 6, CTMH Flaxen card base
  • patterned paper & sequins: CTMH Florence (retired)
  • stamped image: Unity Stamp Co - July KOM - Glittering Eyes, coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E11, E02, E00, E93, E23, E27, E29, YG63, B91, B93, B95, B97, E41, E42, Y32, Y38)
  • sentiment: Verve "Amazing Wishes"
  • layout: Mojo Monday 463 (I didn't do tall and skinny but I was inspired by the sketch)

Mojo Monday 431 - Feeling Christmas-y

Hi folks,

I'm hoping to do a better of job of staying ahead of the game this year with my 2016 Christmas cards so I decided to whip up a few with this week's Mojo Monday 431 sketch.

I just played around with the paper combos and stamps so that each of the four cards would be a little different. Looking at the photos though, I see I might have to straighten a few of the wooden trees <grin>.

Hello Baby - Mojo 430

Hi folks,

Just popping in to share one of the cards I made at the Crop for Haiti here in Ottawa yesterday. It was a wonderful event held to raise funds to help build an art room in a school being built in Haiti. If there is one being organized in your community, I would encourage you to attend! Or even check out how you can get one organized in your own community!

I made a couple of baby quilts to be gifted soon to so I figured I should make cards to go with those quilts. Here is one of those cards.

Hi everybody!

Just thought I'd pop in and share a card I made for the eldest daughter of friend's of ours.

I pulled out another of my Super Secret Stamp Club stamps (#15) from The Greeting Farm and paired it with the pretty Blossom papers from Close To My Heart.

Mojo Monday 364

Hi folks,

It's been a while since I played with the Mojo Monday sketches. Here's my take on Mojo Monday Sketch 364.

The first is a birthday card for my stash...

And the second, with a little variation in the layout, is an anniversary card for my parents. They are celebrating 45 years of marriage today!

Welcome Baby - Mojo Monday 354

Hi folks,

Well, on June 30 my sister gave birth to a new baby girl. I realized that, despite the many hundreds (maybe even thousands) of stamps I have, I don't have a BIG collection of baby stamps. And I also don't have a lot of "baby girl" papers that my sister hasn't already seen (this is her fourth daughter!).

But I did finally get around to making this card to welcome my new niece.

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, CTMH Baby Pink card stock base
  • patterned papers: CTMH Topstitch (retired)
  • stamps: Verve "Love Monkey" (retired), "Small Phrases"
  • Spellbinders Petite Circles, corner rounder punch
  • CTMH Chocolate Ribbon, chocolate and baby pink buttons from my stash

Never count those glasses of wine

Hi folks,

This past weekend we helped to celebrate the upcoming 40th birthday of dearly beloved's sister. Her husband pulled off a massive surprise birthday party - with about 60 people or so in attendance.

I pulled out one of my new favourite stamps for her card. Since we're older than her, we can't really poke fun at her age, so this one seemed appropriate - especially since we had picked up a couple of nice bottles of Portugese wine for her (her husband is of Portugese heritage).

Wild Child - Mojo 353

Hi folks,

Well, it's been a while since I posted - nearly two weeks! What can I say? I just haven't been feeling the crafty mojo.

It might be the fact that it is summer, it might be the fact that I'm taking a three week vacay from work. It might be the fact that I've been busy making jam. OR - it might just be that I finally caved and took a day to clear out the mess that had accumulated in my craft room.

Eeep! I didn't take a photo of the room before I cleaned - but I did take a few after. AND the office where everything that I took out of the craft room is now waiting to be sorted.  Yep, enough stuff to fill TWO craft rooms. Is it any wonder I didn't feel like getting crafty?

But July is a busy birthday month so I made my way into my craft room this weekend to do a bit of colouring and some card-making.

Today I'm sharing the card I made for dearly beloved's niece - she was seven on Saturday.

I'm really not happy with the hair - my E25 and E27 markers were leaving that telltale "sticky" residue. Ick. I've given them a clean and we'll see what happens. I may just have to pitch the nibs though and replace them.

Anyways, card details:

  • finished size: 5x5 inches, white card stock base, black card stock mats
  • patterned paper: Doodlebug "Flower Box"
  • stamped image: The Greeting Farm "Wild Child", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E11, E04, E00, E21, E23, E25, E27, RV00, RV02, RV52, RV55, YG06, YG07, YG00)
  • sentiment: The Greeting Farm "Magical" Bean kit, stamped in CTMH Watermelon (retired), with the "happy" stamped a second time, cut out and popped up on adhesive foam tape
  • sparkly pink ricrac from my stash and sparkly adhesive stars from my crafty pal, Rinne!
  • layout: Mojo Monday 353
  • Spellbinders: Petite Circles

Jessica's Crafty Challenge

Hi folks,

Popping in to share a card I created for the May challenge at Jessica's Crafty Challenge - use your favourite colours. Hmmm. That's a bit of a challenge for me so I took a look in my laundry basket to see what shows up the most.

Black. Lots and lots of black. But I also seem to buy accessories in red. My phone case is red, my Pebble watch is red. My first car was .... red.

So, I went with black, white and a burgundy-ish red for my colour choice.

I HAD coloured the hair one way and then I did my intermediate Copic certification yesterday.

Here's what it looked like originally.

So I decided I didn't like the hair the way I had originally coloured it. So, I tried switching it up a little bit. It's not QUITE the way I want it so I may go back and play with the hair colour a tad more. We shall see. The darker hair is better suited for whom the card is intended - my sister. Every year, I make her a card for Father's Day (it's complicated). This year, this will be her Father's Day card.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base
  • patterned paper: Pink Paislee "Bayberry Cottage"
  • digital stamp: Jess College Fund "Jess with Gifts" coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E11, R21, E21, E25, E27, E29, E21, T3, T5, T7, T9, T10, R35, R37, RV66)
  • embellishments: feather poof from Pritchard Packaging
  • layout: Mojo Monday 348 (I missed the cutoff for linking up - I was watching Game of Thrones!)

Mojo 346

Hi folks,

Today I'm sharing a card I made for a co-worker who retired on Friday. He realized he didn't really NEED to work any longer so ... he isn't! He's retiring from the work force and planning on enjoying his summer and all that life has to bring. I though the sentiment I used on his card was perfect.

card details:
  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base
  • patterned papers: Carta Bella "Giddy Up", edges distressed
  • stamps: My Mind's Eye - Find Your Wings and Fly "Up and Away" stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa
  • embellishments: CTMH Brads

Mojo 347

Hi folks,

Can you believe it? I'm back for the third day in a row to share a couple more cards that I have made with the Close To My Heart "Free to Be Me" paper pack that is a special promotion available only during the May National Scrapbooking Month. It's been a good week for getting crafty!

For these two cards, I even dug into my stash of other CTMH supplies!

I'm loving the look of these funky papers against the white cardstock bases. It really makes the patterns and colours pop!

Mojo Monday 333 - Birthday Wishes

Hi folks,

I'm still working on posting the backlog of cards I have made the last little while so today I am sharing a card I made for a dear friend for her birthday.

I have to confess to loving this paper this much that I use it very sparingly. Isn't that terrible? Anyone else guilty of doing the same?

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base, white card stock mats
  • patterned papers: Prima "Firefly"
  • stamps: Verve "Big Wish", colour accents are Copic YR12m R83, R85, G46
  • ribbons from my stash
