A little mermaid gift for you

Hi folks,

If you are here to check out my GIU Blog Hop post, please scroll down to the previous post.

I'm just popping in today to share another birthday card for another niece.

This one is a fun little mermaid card using some older Echo Park papers from my stash - because, you know, a mermaid card NEEDS beach-y themed papers.

card details:

  • finished size: 5 x 5 inches, white card stock base.
  • patterned paper:  Echo Park Splash (wow! It's from 2011!)
  • stamped image: The Greeting Farm "Oona", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E11, E01, E00, R20, R0000, BG10, BG11, BG13, Y35, Y38, C1, BV0000, BV000). I also added some sparkle with my shimmer brush.
  • sentiment: CTMH Petite Perks "A Little Love" (contact me if you want to find out how to get this handy mini stamp set)
  • layout: Tuesday Throwdown #311
As always, thanks for stopping by!

And.....it's two more Christmas cards!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base

  • stamps: Verve "Ornamental Christmas"
  • spellbinders petite circles
  • adhesive gems from my stash

January Viva La Verve - Week 4

Yep - More Christmas cards!!!! What can I say - my mojo wanted to make Christmas cards so I went with it again - using the Week 4 Sketch for the January Viva La Verve Challenge.

This time I went with white mats and I think they look much better than the cream.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base
  • patterned paper: Echo Park Paper "Very Merry Christmas"
  • stamps: Verve " Ornamental Christmas"
As always, thanks for stopping by!

January Viva La Verve - Week 3

Hi folks,

back again with two more Christmas cards - this time using the Week 3 Sketch for the January Viva La Verve Challenge

I quite like this sketch and thought about doing a rotated version of the cards. I may yet do that.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, textured brown Bazzill for one of the mats
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Very Merry Christmas", edges inked with memento rick cocoa
  • stamps: Verve "Glad Tidings", stamped in memento rich cocoa, CTMH cranberry
  • Spellbinders Petite Circles, corner rounder punch
  • ctmh cranberry brads from my stash

As always, thanks for stopping by!

January Viva La Verve - Week 2

Hi folks,

back again with the cards I made for the Week 2 sketch for the January Viva La Verve challenges.

As I mentioned in the previous post, I'm working on my Christmas cards for 2014 and decided to go with the flow and made two more Christmas cards with the week 2 sketch. I did deviate a little from the sketch on both cards. That little tab at the bottom left of the sketch wasn't working for me so I altered both cards.

On the first card, I moved the tab to highlight my sentiment.

And on the second, I put it off to the side with a different orientation.

I also have to admit that I am not happy with the cream coloured mats. They aren't quite the correct colour for this paper. Darn it. And I really can't go change them at this point. Though I am entertaining the idea of carefully colouring them with my Copics to change the colour We shall see.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, cream mats
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Very Merry Christmas"
  • stamps: Verve "Joyous Noel"
  • Spellbinders: petite circles, labels one
as always, thanks for stopping by!

Hi folks!

It's Friday so that means it is time for me to share my latest creation for our weekly "Anything Goes" challenge over at the Sister Act Card Challenge!

As you probably know by now, the rules for joining in our weekly challenge are pretty simple - anything goes as long as it is a new card of your own creation! Just join in the fun by linking up to your blog post featuring your lovely creation and you will be in the running for the prize offered by this week's sponsor - Meljen's Designs! I can't wait to check our your fabulous creations!

A friend of mine slipped on the ice recently and broke a rib (quite literally as she arrived home from a trip to Jamaica). I made this card to cheer her up (along with a batch of Jamaican Patties) using the very cute "Happy Little Whale" from Meljens Designs.

For a little princess

Hi folks,

since I made cards for my nieces and nephew in Newfoundland for back-to-school, I could not leave out the youngest (she's not quite two years old yet).

Here's the card I made for her:

As always, thanks for stopping by for a visit!

edited to add: some of the comments mentioned the red on this card. I should clarify - the mats are actually more of a dark bright pink - I think the colour is just a touch off in the picture, making it look more red than it actually is.

On the run with Kraftin' Kimmie

Hi folks,

Look at that! I'm back....AGAIN!!! This time with an early August birthday card.

I took advantage of a big sale recently at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and compounded my savings with a coupon I had saved from when I purchased the Going Places set. I picked up a BUNCH of stamps - a BIG bunch. There was one in particular which I HAD TO HAVE to make a birthday card for my dearly beloved's sister.

Not only is she the mother of two and a hard-working police officer - she is EXCEPTIONALLY fit. She teaches boot camp fitness classes and has been known to take part in marathons AND triathlons. So it was with a little tongue in cheek that I made this card for her birthday this year...

and on the inside "You've just been young a LONG time!"  (funny since my dearly beloved is the oldest of all his siblings). And then I wrote our own personal message "it's about time you caught up to the rest of us".....  :)

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, white cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Echo Park Paper Co "Playground" (I thought the bunting banner paper was perfect with this image)
  • stamped sentiment: Little Paper Shop (I don't think they are in business any longer)
  • stamped image: Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps - Carol. Coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E31, E35, E39, E47, R85, BG000, BG01, BG02, B39)
  • layout: Feeling Sketchy Week #16 (too late to enter for the challenge but I liked the layout)
  • CTMH brads (holiday red)
additional challenges for this card:
Thanks for stopping by! That rounds out the last of the cards I made yesterday.....

Another July Birthday!

Hi folks,

back with another of the July birthday cards I made yesterday - this one wasn't late though! The get-together we attended yesterday was for the birthday girl - who actually has her birthday today.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, white cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Echo Park Paper Co "Summer Days"
  • sentiment: Verve
  • stamped image: The Greeting Farm "Sweet Anya", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, E50, E51, E53, V000, V01, V04, V06, Y02, Y04, B91, B93, B95)

Fairies and Rainbows - TGFSC22

Hi folks,

today we attended a birthday party for the cutest little girl - she is now all of four years old. She had a rainbow themed birthday party - her Mom totally rocked it with a rainbow cake, huge rainbow pom-pom tissue paper flowers and a rainbow slushie. Little birthday girl is totally in love with My Little Pony and Fairies right now so her birthday card from us featured Eva of the original rubber TGF Fairies.

You will have to forgive my photos of my cards for the next while. I'm trying out GIMP (again) and trying to get the hang of it. Oi!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, purple card stock base (from one of my PWCO papercard kits)
  • patterned paper: Echo Park Paper Co Summer Days
  • stamped image: The Greeting Farm Fairy Eva. Coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, Y000, Y00, Y02, Y04, Y06, E21, E23, E25, E27, V0000, V000) and some sparkly accents on her wings with my Clear Star Gelly Roll pen from Sakura
  • CTMH Sunkiss Yellow card stock
  • sentiment: Pink Cat Studio
  • buttons from my stash
  • Lilac twine from The Twinery
  • layout: TGFSC22 over on SCS

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

Hey Dude - TGFSC11

Hi folks,

well after painting the ceiling in the front rooms of our first floor yesterday, my shoulders and arms were too sore to do the second coat today. So I took the day "off" instead - caught up on the laundry and started tackling the mess in my craft room. I did get the laundry finished - but not my craft room. I did put a good dent in it though.

As a reward for my good behaviour of the last two days, I sat down tonight to make a card for the TGF Sketch Challenge #11 over on their SCS forum.

I wound up moving the image panel just a little bit to the right though as I didn't want to cover up the text on the background paper. I  hope that wasn't too much of a liberty!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Echo Park Sweet Summertime
  • stamped image: Dress Up Ian from The Greeting Farm, coloured with Copic Markers. Background is inked with CTMH Heavenly Blue and Citrus Leaf.
  • sentiment: My Guy Ian from The Greeting Farm
  • buttons: Basic Grey Noon & Pantry
  • Stampin' Up Word Window Punch
  • Spellbinders Deckled Rectangle
  • EK Success Scalloped Scallops Border Punch
additional challenges for this card:
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are having a lovely day. I'm hoping to get the second coat on the ceiling on Saturday or Sunday. Whichever day it is, I'm hoping to get back into the craft room on the other day to make a few more cards.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

For each petal on the shamrock

This brings a wish your way-
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here's a quick little card I put together this morning for my sweetie for St. Patrick's Day -- because, let's face it, on St. Patrick's Day, aren't we all just a little bit Irish? Technically, I'm not but I do come from the only province in Canada where St. Patrick's Day is actually a holiday - Newfoundland.

I know most of us don't have shamrock stamps (okay, I DO but I didn't want to use them AGAIN this year) or dies but most of us have do have hearts and hearts are a great for making shamrocks (3 or 4 leaf - up to you)!

card details:
  • finished size: 6x6 CTMH cardstock (I think it's Pear but not sure - I have a huge stash of CTMH cardstock - every colour and sometimes I get them mixed up).
  • patterned papers: Echo Park "Summer Days"
  • stamped sentiment: CTMH
  • 3 inch Cuttlebug Heart die cut
