Viva La Verve - July Week 2

Hi folks,

Well, I didn't get to post this card yesterday because - gasp! - I was without internet at home for most of the day. AND...since our home phone is VOIP, no home phone. AND....I couldn't even tether through my cell phone because IT was mysteriously without cell connectivity! I eventually resorted to a short visit to Starbucks mid-afternoon for a short external world fix. Isn't that sad?

Anyways, here is the card I meant to share yesterday. It's a sympathy card for my brother and his family since they recently had to bid farewell to one of the four-legged members of their family. His beloved dog Misty had been with them for almost 14 years and I know that it pained him terribly to say goodbye to his devoted pooch.

card details:

Viva La Verve - July 2012 Week 2

Hi folks,

back with my cards for the Viva La Verve July Week 2 challenge over at SCS.

Here's the sketch:

Once again, I made two cards using the sketch.

The first is a sympathy card for a friend who's Dad passed away recently.

And this is a birthday card for my Great Uncle. His wife, my great Aunt, passed away recently and it just didn't seem right to send a "happy birthday" card.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye sixbysix Paris & Co
  • stamps: Verve "New Mercies" and "Amazing Wishes"
  • Spellbinders: Lacey Circles, Petite Circles
Thanks for stopping by! I have a crafty day planned with Tanya on Thursday - so looking forward to a day to sit down and colour! It's my first day of 3 1/2 weeks off from work. A much overdue break!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 149

Hi folks,

It was with a heavy heart that I made this card. A childhood friend of mine passed away on December 29th at the age of 42 (same age as me) after being diagnosed two weeks previously with stomach cancer. I wanted her Mom to know that I was thinking of her at this difficult time. My friend was an only child and her Dad committed suicide when we were teenagers. Her Mom does have the loving support of their extended family and dear friends but I am sure that this was devastating.

Though the last time I saw Nancy was at her cousin's wedding (I was the Maid of Honour and she was one of the bridesmaids), I remember her fondly, always smiling and ready to lift your spirits if you were feeling down.

And three more sympathy cards

Three more using the same sentiment but a different cuttlebug folder.

A few more sympathy cards

A few more sympathy cards. These each use a different cuttlebug folder with the same sentiment.

Sympathy Cards

So, I decided to make a few sympathy cards to have on hand (or to just give away) as it is always too hard to make them when I really need them.
