Jessica's Crafty Challenge

Hi folks,

Popping in to share a card I created for the May challenge at Jessica's Crafty Challenge - use your favourite colours. Hmmm. That's a bit of a challenge for me so I took a look in my laundry basket to see what shows up the most.

Black. Lots and lots of black. But I also seem to buy accessories in red. My phone case is red, my Pebble watch is red. My first car was .... red.

So, I went with black, white and a burgundy-ish red for my colour choice.

I HAD coloured the hair one way and then I did my intermediate Copic certification yesterday.

Here's what it looked like originally.

So I decided I didn't like the hair the way I had originally coloured it. So, I tried switching it up a little bit. It's not QUITE the way I want it so I may go back and play with the hair colour a tad more. We shall see. The darker hair is better suited for whom the card is intended - my sister. Every year, I make her a card for Father's Day (it's complicated). This year, this will be her Father's Day card.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base
  • patterned paper: Pink Paislee "Bayberry Cottage"

  • embellishments: feather poof from Pritchard Packaging

Another Jess' College Fund Digi Card!

Hi folks ,

---

If you are here for my Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Battle Hop" post please click through or scroll down to the previous post. Trust me - even if you AREN'T here for that post, you should go check it out!

---

Well, it's a Saturday morning and, as usual, I was up before 5 am thanks to the fur-babies. It was too early (and dark) to tackle the remaining autumn yard work so rather than doze on the daybed like I usually do, I decided to hit the craft room for a little colouring time.

It was rather enjoyable to colour "just because". I really don't have anyone in mind for this card, I just wanted to colour up this new image from Jess' College Fund. There is a fantastic challenge going on at her blog to introduce this collection of stamps - you really should check it out!

Did you  notice the words etched into the button? I was digging through my newly acquired buttons (as if I don't have too many already) and thought that this one was just perfect to pair with this image.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base and mats
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey "Sweet Threads"
  • digital image: Jess' College Fund "Jess Coffee Time", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, E04, E21, E23, E25, E27, E40, E41, E42, R01, R02, R05, R08, YG91, YG93)
  • sentiment: Verve "Joyful Blooms", stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa with CTMH Taffy Ink sponged on the sentiment panel
  • Spellbinders Labels One
  • button, ribbon and twine from my stash
  • layout: Seize the Sketch #8

As always, thanks for stopping by! The sun is up now and it's all of 6 degrees Celsius, heading for a balmy high of 10. Brrr. Have to get that yard work done!

Tuesday Morning Sketches with Jess' College Fund Digi's

Hi folks,

It's a long weekend here in Canada and I did manage to scrape out a little craft room time to make this birthday card for a friend of ours. She is an avid photographer (here's a link to her photography business page on Facebook if you would like to check it out - beautiful shots of the local wildlife) and I thought this new image from Jess' College Fund Digi's would be perfect for her birthday card (though without glasses would have been better in this case).

I can't encourage you enough to stop by Jess' College Fund to check out the very reasonably priced digital images. I have all but one - the most recently released image since I have been crazy busy this weekend and haven't had time yet to purchase it. Will fix that later today!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base and mat (I've taken a liking to doing an extra mat in the same colour as my card base recently. Love the extra layer.). Brown textured card stock from Michael's for the mats.
  • patterned paper: Basic Grey "Sweet Threads"
  • digital image: Jess' College Fund "Jess Taking Pictures", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E02, E93, E04, E43, E47, E49, E39, E29, E77, E25, YG0000, YG01, YG21, YG23, T4, T6, T8) with a little white gelly roll accent on the camera lens. I also sponged around the image with CTMH Blush ink to pick up on the pink in the papers. Yes, I DO have a Copic Airbrush and it DOES sit in one of the towers of my desk. I really should take it out and leave it ON my desk and plugged in so I can use it more often. sigh. Just call me Queen of the unused tools!
  • sentiment: Verve "Borderline"
  • Spellbinders Petite Ovals
  • paper flowers and embroidery floss from my stash
  • layout: Tuesday Morning Sketches #223 (oops - should have uploaded yesterday to meet the posting deadline!)
