Seize the Sketch with Kraftin' Kimmie

Hi folks,

Just thought I would pop in today to share the card I created for my sister-in-law's birthday. I've had it for a while but am just now getting around to putting it onto some EZ-mount so I can finally use it.

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base and mats
  • patterned papers: Bo Bunny "Zip-a-dee-doodle"

Happy Holidays from Yeti Yumi - SC458

Hi folks!

I'm finally back on the wagon, getting a few more Christmas cards ready for the coming season. At the crop I attended on Friday, I got out my Copics and coloured up Yeti Yumi for this card:

I have to say, this one is a fave. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way that I can gift it to myself instead of giving it away to someone! My dearly beloved commented that it looked a LOT like a friend of mine so I'm thinking I AM going to have to give this one away to her.

A couple of reminders before I give you the card details:
  • You still have lots of time to link up your cards for the Hallowe'en Colours over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog
  • Yumi & Fumi Handmade now have a company gallery over at SplitCoastStampers. Click on through to check out the fabulous creations already in the gallery. If you are a member over at SCS and upload your Y&FH creations, be sure to tag them with yumifumi so we can check them out! We're looking forward to seeing the gallery of inspiration grow!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, navy card stock mats
  • patterned papers: Bo Bunny "Blitzen"
  • stamped image: Yumi & Fumi Handmade "Yeti Yumi" coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E02, E93, E50, Y21, Y23, Y32, Y35, B97, B95, B93, B91, C6, Y13, R29, G07, B000). I added a little sparkle to the string of lights with my Sakura Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.

Challenge #23 - Back to School with Yumi & Fumi Handmade

Hi folks,

It's Sunday so that means I am sharing my Team Fumi creation for Challenge #23 over at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog.

Challenge #23 is a "back to school" themed challenge and you have until this coming Friday to link up your challenge entries at the Y&FH challenge post for a chance to win!

The minute I saw the subject for this challenge I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to make - a picture frame "white board". Not sure what that is? Well, here you go!

These fun little message boards are so easy-peasy to make. Take a clear, clip style picture frame - whichever size suits your needs. You can go as big (mine is 10 inches by 12 inches) or as small as you like. Then put together a fun layout - just be sure to leave some spaces to write your reminders or messages. Since this IS a picture frame it already has the spots on the back from which it can be hung on the wall in your child's study area. Or, you can attach some heavy-duty rare earth magnets to the back to stick in a school locker or on the refrigerator.

Be sure to use white-board or wash-off markers so your messages aren't permanent!

project details:
  • finished size: 10 x 12 inches, clip style acrylic photo frame
  • patterned paper: Bo Bunny "Learning Curve". I have been holding on to these 12x12 papers in my stash for such a long time just for the chance to do a project like this!
  • stamped images: Yumi  & Fumi Handmade "Fumi with Messenger Bag", "Yumi with Book Bag". Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Copic X-Press It paper, coloured with Copic Markers. Fumi: (skin) E02, E01, E00, E000, E93. (hair) E11, E97, E99, E07, E08, E09, E19. (outfit) B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, R35, R37, R39, Y21, Y23, Y32, white gelly roll marker. Yumi: (skin) E02, E01, E00, E000, E93. (hair) E21, E23, E25, E27, E29. (outfit) Y21, Y23, Y32, G94, G99, G20, G21, YR12, YR15, YR18.
  • stamped sentiments: CTMH September Word Puzzle (retired) in CTMH White Daisy Ink
Be sure to check out the challenge details and the creations from the rest of Team Fumi - you can find their posts by navigating to them from the main post over at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog or you can follow the list below

Senior Designer, Denice Bartucci:  http://being-craft-de.blogspot.com/
Melissa Oeters: http://8ers.blogspot.com/

Remember you can now use ANY coloured images in your creations - with an extra entry if you use a Yumi & Fumi Handmade image! Sorry but sentiment only creations are not eligible to win the prizes up for grabs. And what CAN you win? The challenge winner gets a $10 gift certificate to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade store while the Top 3 get a 10% discount code for their next purchase! Be sure to check the challenge guidelines here for the most up to date information on how your entry can qualify to win!

Viva La Verve September 2013 Week 1

Hi folks!

Well I am on the ball (so far) with the September Viva La Verve Challenges - it's early. Only one posted so far and I have it done already! Woo hoo!

Here's a link the challenge post on Splitcoaststampers and a quick peek at the actual sketch

and here is my card:

This card is for the wedding shower for my brother's fiancee this coming weekend. I won't be there as it is in Newfoundland but there is a prezzie in the post for the happy occasion. Black, white and bright fuchsia are the colours for their wedding so I decided to use them on the wedding shower card.

  • patterned paper: Bo Bunny "Enchanted"
  • stamps: Verve "On Occasion" frame stamped in CTMH White Daisy, "Love Story"

Viva La Verve - August 2013 - Week 1

Hi folks!

I finally got around to going BACK and doing a card for the Viva La Verve August Week 1 sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.

Here's the sketch:

and here's my card I made for my Uncle (want to guess how old he is going to be on his birthday?)

Now, the two diagonally cut pieces of paper are actually the front and back of the same sheet of patterned paper. However, because of the way I cut it (to get the Roman numerals across the top), the orientation of the keyhole side was wrong for pairing up on the same card so....I wound up cutting a second piece of paper to get the keyholes lined up properly. Since that left me with two more diagonally cut pieces of paper, I decided to make a second card for my stash with the diagonals aligned differently.

I quite like how both cards came out.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, white card stock mats
  • patterned paper: Bo Bunny "Timeless" (the border, numbers, time piece etc are all from the coordinating sticker page in the paper pack)
  • stamps: Verve "Making a Statement"
  • Spellbinders: Petite Circles

Viva La Verve - August Week 2

Hi folks,

I managed to grab an hour in the craft room this weekend to play along with the Viva La Verve August Week 2 Sketch challenge over on Splitcoaststampers (and yes, if you are keeping track I have not yet had a chance to do my card for the Week 1 Sketch).

Here's the sketch:

And here is my card (I thought the sketch was perfect for a wedding card for my next door neighbour's daughter):

card details:

  • finished size: 5x5 inches, white card stock base, black and deep red card stock mats
  • patterned paper: Bo Bunny "Enchanted"
  • stamps: Verve "Love Story"
  • dies: Verve "Lovely Marquee", Verve "From the Heart", Spellbinders "Classic Rectangles"
  • adhesive gems from my stash (for anyone local, I got them from Pritchard Packaging for what I think was an awesome price. And yes, I bought a LOT of them - in every size they had.)

Viva La Verve September - Week 3

Yesterday I provided ground-level support but today I was able to squeeze in some craft room time.

I took the chance to finish up my cards for the last two Viva La Verve Challenges over on SplitCoastStampers.

Mojo Monday 255

Hi folks!

As you may have noticed, there have been a LOT of card posts this week using my Verve goodies. What's up with that, you say? Well, Verve is celebrating their 5th anniversary with a card carnival. Grand prize winner wins the entire August Anniversary release! Oh my Verve-y goodness! So you know I HAVE to play along as much as possible.

So, here is this week's Mojo Monday Sketch

and here is my card:

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black cardstock base, red cardstock accents
  • patterned papers: Bo Bunny "Enchanted"
  • stamps: Verve "Joyful Blooms"
  • Stampin' Up gems from my stash
  • EK Success Border punch
  • Spellbinders Labels One
additional challenges for this card:
I'm really hoping I can squeeze in more time to play with my Verve goodies before the card carnival deadline but I'm not sure if I my schedule. After work today I am getting together with a friend from high school who I haven't seen since our first year of university - 25 years ago! We are going to attend the "Women's Fine Wining" evening being put on by the Kanata Chamber of Commerce. I'm excited to see my friend to catch up on all that has happened in the last 25 years and to hopefully have a wonderful girls night out. Then it's back to work tomorrow....so, I might not find any more time to play. But fingers crossed....I might!

Viva La Verve August Week 3 - Card 2

Hi folks

Back again with my second card for the Viva La Verve Week 3 challenge - again, splitting up the two cards into two separate posts because of the card carnival rules

Here is the week 3 sketch:

And here is my second card using this sketch

I just switched out the papers that I was using, along with the stamps. Again, this card might make it into the bigger project for which I am doing all of the black/white/red cards - but maybe not as I have quite a few birthday cards coming up in the next few weeks so this one might get given away for one of those birthdays.

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base, red card stock accents
  • patterned papers: Bo Bunny "Enchanted"
  • stamps: Verve "Small Celebrations" (10% off during the August anniverary sale)
