The Sisterhood of Crafters - Anything Goes!

Hi folks,

Wow! Where is this week going? Can you believe it is Wednesday already? That means it is time to share my creation for the latest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters.

Our current challenge is everyone's favourite - Anything Goes! That's right, until October 20th we would love to see you link up your crafty creations - whatever inspires you!

Fitztown is the challenge sponsor this time around so be sure to pay them a visit and browse through the online store at the beautiful digital images available. There is an INCREDIBLE variety of fabulous images and I must confess to having a difficult time choosing JUST one with which to create. But choose I did - this beautiful image from the Winter Collection. The little girl looks so much like one of the daughters of a dear friend of mine that I just had to have this image to create a special Christmas card just for her.

Be sure to check out the challenge post at The Sisterhood of Crafters to see what my fellow "sisters" are sharing today as well!

December SFYTT and SFYTT year in review

Hi folks,

well - here it is - the final sketch for you to try for this year. And, sadly, it is the last SFYTT.

Here's the sketch:

and here's the Christmas card I made for my brother and his fiancee (so far, I think this is my favourite Christmas card I made this year)

And here's the links to all of my other SFYTT cards for 2012:
It's been a blast playing along all year - this has been the only challenge site that I have faithfully kept up with all year. So sad to see it come to an end.

Bellarific Friday - Sketch 25

Hi folks,

I had the time this week to play along with this week's Bellarific Friday Sketch Challenge over at Stamping Bella

Here's the sketch

and here's my card

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base and mats
  • patterned paper: Fancy Pants "Winterland" (I did some tearing on one of the papers and layered it to create a sledding hill effect)
  • stamped image: Stamping Bella "Uptown Girl Winona Loves Winter", coloured with Copic Markers (E01, E00, E000, E93, E50, E51, E53, E30, R20, R35, R37, R39, R56, R00, R21, R22, E57, E59)
  • Spellbinders Classic Rectangles Die Cuts - I even got fancy and used the "out of the box" technique around her skirt and the back of the toboggan.
challenges for this card:
Today's my big day - I am taking the day off work to do what little Christmas shopping I have to do this year. My plan is to drop my sweetie off at work (we only have the one car so in winter we car-pool), come home and exercise. Then get ready to hit the stores as soon as they open. I expect it will only take me a couple of hours and then I'll be done. Probably finished by lunch time or shortly after!

Hope your day goes well! Thanks for stopping by!

Verve World Card Making Day Sketch Challenge

Hi folks,

well it has definitely been a busy month for me. So busy that I am just NOW getting around to making a few cards for the Verve World Card Making Day Sketch Challenge

Here's the sketch:

and here are my holiday cards for the challenge! Yep, that's right. Since Verve is giving away their next holiday release to the winner of this challenge, I figured it was high time I got back to making Christmas cards.

So here are three new Christmas cards for this year's much neglected stash. I will really have to get on the ball to get enough finished for this year (see the tally so far on the side-bar. Oops....)

I quite like this layout and, if I can figure out a way to tie a proper bow, I just might make a few more of these with some of my many other Christmas papers (shhh....don't tell but I have picked up four new 6x6 pads in the last two visits to Multi-crafts - this was one of them, plus an Echo Park collection in 12x12)

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base, red card stock accent for the ornament hanger (kind of hidden by the ribbon)
  • patterned papers: Fancy Pants Designs "Winterland"
  • stamps: Verve "Ornamental Christmas"
  • buttons are Basic Grey from my stash
  • satin ribbons and baker's twine from my stash
