Tulips for CPS 215

Hi folks,

I sat down today to tackle more of my Mother's Day cards for this year (I know - very late). Here is one that I came up with using this week's Card Positioning Systems Sketch 215.

card details:
  • finished size: 6x6 inches
  • digi image: Tulips Digital Stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, laser printed on Copic X-Press card stock. Coloured with Copic Markers (R81, R83, R85, G21, G24, G28).
  • sentiment: Verve "Because of You"
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey Euphoria (shimmer)
  • cardstock: CTMH HollyHock
  • paper doily used on the corner trims
  • 2 inch circle punch used to create the corner trims.

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #21

Hi folks,

I managed to sit down tonight in the craft room and made my cards for this week's sketch challenge over at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Blog. Playing along with the weekly challenge has really kept me on track for this year's cards - my total is now up to 50 made so far.

As usual, I made multiples but each one is made slightly different by switching up the papers and the image slightly.

Oh, and I went a little "bling" happy on the cards. I pulled out my Sakura "Clear Star" Gelly Roll pen to add a little sparkle to the "icicles" on one of the trees and to fill in some of the circles on the other tree. Then out came the self-adhesive Stampin' Up Rhinestones (thanks Sunghee!). I couldn't stop myself!

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
  • patterned papers: CTMH Jingle
  • cardstock: CTMH Juniper
  • ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, CTMH Tulip and Juniper
  • stamps: CTMH Tannenbaum, Christmas Melodies
  • EK Success Scalloped Scallops Border Punch (although it is mostly hidden by the tree panel and the sentiment)
additional challenges for these cards
Anyways, that's it for me for tonight. I'm hoping to find my way into the craft room again this weekend to finish up my Mother's Day cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Viva La Verve - April Week 4

Hi folks,

well, I don't know about anyone else who plays along with the Viva La Verve challenges over on SCS but boy, I found the sketches for April rather challenging. In fact, I could  not get my head around the Week 3 sketch - too busy for my taste. So I wound up skipping that one. However, I did play along with the sketch for Week 4.

I had the perfect paper in my collection's my take

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
  • patterned papers: My Mind's Eye Home - Glitter Stack (yep, the sunburst paper is part of the collection)
  • stamps: Verve Big Wish
  • Spellbinders: Petite Circles
  • EK Success Scalloped Scallops Border Punch

Anyways, it's late and I am TRYING to get this loaded up to SCS but....well, the site isn't cooperating so it looks like I may not get it loaded up in time for the challenge deadline anyway. Sigh.....

WOYWW - April 27th

Hi you here to take a peek at What's on my Workdesk this Wednesday?

If you go!

after finishing up this card last night I decided to lay out a few things to encourage myself to maybe work on a few more of my Mother's day cards when I get home after work today (before I go off to my booty camp class).

There's a few extra of the same tulip images coloured up and waiting to be used, along with the CTMH Amore papers that I will probably use again.

I've also got another flower image stamped up four times to hopefully get coloured and made into cards sometime in the next couple of days.

And there's a pile of 6x6 paper pads that I THOUGHT I might use on Mother's day cards but none of them are appealing to me for these flower stamps. Gah. You would think that with all the papers I have I would have SOMETHING I liked for these stamps but...I'm coming up short.

Anyways, enough yammering from me. Back to Julia's blog to see who else is playing along this with this week's WOYWW!

Papertake Weekly Sketch Challenge for Mother's Day

Hi folks,

well I realized today that Mother's day is MAY 8th!!! EEEP!! I thought it was the 15th! And I had not yet made any of the Mother's day cards I need to make. So, I did the unthinkable for me and actually worked in the craft room tonight (see my previous What's On Tap Tuesday post for the mess I had when I finished up).

Here's the card I came up with for my Mom this year

card details:

additional challenges for this card:
Hope you are all having a lovely day - I'll be back tomorrow with my WOYWW post!

What's on Tap Tuesday

Hi folks,

Cindy, over at The Crafty Frugalista, has started a North American version of sneaking a peek at each other's desks called What's On Tap Tuesday. I thought I would play along this week (and yes I will still be doing my WOYWW post tomorrow as well).

Here's my peek!

Yes, I was actually crafting tonight. I came to the sudden realization today that Mother's day is less than two weeks away and I had not started ANY of my Mother's day cards -- and I usually make more than a few. What you see on my desk is the aftermath of what I managed to get done tonight
  • Mother's day card for my Mom
  • a few more of that same digi tulip image from Sweet 'n Sassy stamps coloured up and ready to be made into a few more cards (probably the Mother's day cards for dearly beloved's Mom and step-mother and either a Mother's day card for a friend or a birthday card for the stash)
  • I have a few more things lying around from making Easter cards - stamps, Spellbinders etc that have not yet been put away.
  • and a stack of paper that I pulled out with the idea to MAYBE use them on the Mother's day cards. We shall see. Depends on the stamps I wind up using.

Anyways, if you pop back later you will see the actual post for the card I made ....

hope you are all having a great day!

    Check it out here:

okay, so that's enough yammering from me for now. I'm still trying to decide what to do today. By my tally I have earned some SERIOUS craft room time (all day by my count), but today is supposed to be nice and my yard/garden is craving some serious Spring cleanup before I go back to work tomorrow. I think I better get to it and get out the de-thatching rake.....sigh.

The International Music Score Library Project

    Hi folks,

just thought I would share something that might be of interest to my fellow paper-crafters and/or musicians among you.

The International Music Score Library Project(IMSLP) - Petrucci Music Library is a Canadian site dedicated to publishing public domain music scores. They were recently subjected to a take down notice from UK Music Publishers but, happily, saner heads prevailed and the UK Music Publishers agreed they were wrong to file the takedown as all of the scores are compliant with Canadian copyright rules.

Anyways, I just thought I would share the link to their wiki for anyone who might be looking for (specific) sheet music for paper-crafting projects....or for actually playing. Remember - Canadian copyright rules apply so the music was mostly written by composers who have been dead for at least 50 years or who agreed to share their compositions for free.

    Have fun browsing!

    Hi folks,

    card details:
    • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches
    • stamped image: "Tweethearts" from PaperWorksCo, coloured with Copic Markers (YG11, YG13, B0000, B000, B00, B01, B02, Y11, Y13, E29, R22, Y17)
    • patterned papers and Buttons: Basic Grey Marjolaine

    Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #20

    Hi folks,

how about a break from Easter? Ready for a little....Christmas perhaps?

The challenge posted last Sunday over at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Blog (#20) was Anything Goes.

I decided to use CPS Sketch #214 for the layout. As usual, I did multiples - making each one different by switching up the paper combos, positions and sentiments.

These are pretty flat cards so they will be good for mailing out.

    Card details:
    • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
    • card base: kraft cardstock
    • patterned papers: Basic Grey Jovial
    • stamped sentiments: CTMH Tannenbaum

Another Buffy the Bunny Easter Card

      Hi folks,

here's another of this year's Easter cards. I know, I know. I've done so many that even I have lost track. I have two more left to go after this one. Well, one of them is done and waiting to post (tomorrow) and the other one still has to be made. I will have to get that one finished tomorrow since Easter IS on Sunday.

      card details:
      • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches
      • "Buffy the Bunny with Easter Basket" from the Pixie Cottage Copics Used: R81, R83, R85, E37, E35, E33, E30, Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, E29, W1, W3, W5, BG10, BG11, BG13, B15, V12, V09, B01, B04
      • sentiment: CTMH Holiday Jubilee
      • patterned papers: Basic Grey Hopscotch
      • Kraft cardstock base and image mat
      • CTMH Sorbet brads
      • Spellbinders: Classic Squares (using the "out of the box" technique since the image was larger than the dies)
      • layout: Pixie Cottage Sketch from Challenge #66
      additional challenges for this card:

Hope you are all having a lovely Easter long weekend!

What you say - ANOTHER Easter card?

      Hi folks,

so are you tired of all my Easter cards yet? I hope not as I still have a few more to go and it IS Good Friday so I think I am allowed.

Here's another one I made yesterday using this week's sketch over at the Pollycraft Challenge blog and I tried to stick with the "vintage" theme as well with my choice of image and papers.

A little fussier with the embellishments than usual for me - that ribbon is hand-gathered. Yep, by me. Easy enough to do and all, just sew a single thread down the middle of the ribbon and pull the thread tighter, adjusting the gathers as you go, but a little time consuming to do two lengths that will span a six inch card.

I REALLY like the card but I am going to give it away at Easter. I considered keeping it and giving it to my sweetie but....well, it's a little to femme for him I think.

      card details:
      • finished size: 6x6 inches
      • stamped images: CTMH Sensational Season, coloured with Copic Markers (female bunny: R21, R20, Y21, YR00, YR02, E50, E51, E52, G12, YG63, YG67, E30, E31, E34, E33, E35, YG93. male bunny: E30, E31, E33, E34, E35, YG93, YG95)
      • patterned papers: CTMH Veranda
      • card stock: CTMH Creme Brulee
      • paper flowers from my stash (from Pritchard Packaging here in Ottawa)
      • Spellbinders: Petite Circles
      • satin ribbon from my stash (from Fabricland here in Ottawa)
      additional challenges for this card:
Hope you all have a lovely day! Mine got off to a nice start with a walk through the South March Highlands here in Kanata. Now for some crafty time with the Dr. Who marathon on Space!

More Easter cards with Card Patterns Sketch 111

        Hi folks,

I made a few more Easter/Spring cards today using this week's sketch (#111) from Card Patterns, four to be exact. Just switched up the images, sentiments and paper combos so that they would all be different.

I think they make a cute quartet of cards, don't you? I like the card with the galoshes the most - maybe it's because I'm planning a little walk through the South March Highlands tomorrow and I'll be donning my own brand new galoshes! Mind you, the little duckies are pretty cute too and I expect we might be seeing a few of those tomorrow.

        card details:
        • finished size: 4x4 inches
        • patterned papers: Echo Park "Life is Good", the same papers are used in the paper-piecing of the galoshes, umbrella and ducklings. The ducklings actually had some additional colour added to them with Copic YR12 and Y02.
        • cardstock: CTMH chocolate
        • ink and buttons: CTMH chocolate, juniper, tulip
        • stamps: CTMH Springtime, A Hop
        additional challenges for these cards:
Anyways, I hope you all have a lovely Easter Weekend! I still have a few Easter cards left to make/post so....I hope you aren't tired of them yet!

        Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday to a dear friend

        Hi folks!

Well it has been a long day (it started at 3am for me) and I am just now sitting down (nearly 9:30pm) to write this post. As promised in my WOYWW post earlier, here is the card I made for Tanya for her birthday.

I've had this "Krafty Stamper" image from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps ever since it was released with the rest of the Krafty girls and this is my first time using it.

The card was delivered to the birthday girl today so I hope that by now she has opened it and seen it first hand.

Oh, and this card is the first time I have tried out the Copic X-Press paper. Must say, I like it. I like it a LOT! I may be a convert. I picked some up at Multi-Crafts here in Ottawa (for me AND the birthday girl, along with a few patterned paper pads that I could not resist).

        card details:
        • finished size: 6x6 inches
        • stamped image: "Krafty Stamper" from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black on Copic X-Press paper. Coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, B91, B93, Y11, Y00, E30, E31, E55, E50, E53, E57, E59, E77, E79, E42, R22, G24, B02, V04, YR12, G21, C1)
        • sentiment: Verve Kind Words, stamped in Versmark and heat embossed with black embossing powder.
        • patterned papers: Basic Grey Hopscotch
        • cardstock: CTMH Chocolate, Sorbet
        • buttons: Basic Grey Hopscotch
        • Caribbean Twine from the Twinery
        • layout: Sketch Saturday #151 (I added an extra button though - six instead of five)
        additional challenges for this card:
        Thanks for stopping by!

        WOYWW - April 20th

        Hi folks,

here's a peek at my desk as I finished up making a card last night for a dear friend who celebrates her birthday today. Ever the procrastinator, I knew long ago which image I wanted to use on her card but  I waited until the day before to make her card. I wanted a dedicated time when I could give it the time it deserved - not rushy, rushy. I'll be back later today with a pic of her card as I will be delivering it later today. But for now you can see the mess my desk was in when I finished up...

Let's see - Basic Grey Hopscotch paper and buttons, dimensional foam squares, the giant glue runner, my heat gun, a sketch, my case of ink daubers......yep, all were used in making the card!

If you are interested in seeing who else is playing along this week, be sure to drop by Miss Julia's blog, The Stamping Ground, for the full list.

And you might want to stop by my friend Tanya's blog to wish her a happy birthday! Happy Birthday T! See you later today!

        Another Quartet of Cards

        Hi folks,

I know - busy busy for me today. How many card posts is that now? And to think that I went to a movie with one of my besties (we saw The Lincoln Lawyer - enjoyed it), watched "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" with my Sweetie AND watched the first episode of "Game of Thrones" (squee!).

In between HP and GOT, I decided to play along with this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #113 and wound up making four cards - two anniversary and two birthday. Here they are:

        card details:
        • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
        • patterned papers: CTMH Bliss, inked on the edges with Memento Rich Cocoa
        • Stamps: Verve Love Story and Big Wish
        • Spellbinders: Petite Circles
        • Clear Robin's Egg Dew drops
        • flowers from my stash that were inked with Memento Rich Cocoa
        Additional challenges for these cards:
Hope you all have a lovely week ahead! It's back to work for me tomorrow so it will probably be a few days before you see any new cards from me.

        Simply Betty and Unscripted Sketches

        Hi folks,

I sat down to play this afternoon - did not work on any "have to  make" cards but did an "I want to make card".
Simply Betty Stamps has a nice little challenge over on their Facebook page - you can read the details over on the blog post here. Basically, post a card with a Simply Betty image over on their Facebook wall and Betty will send you one of the new digis about to be released. Pretty cool for anyone who is already a fan!

Since I already had this image of Christian coloured up and sitting in my basket of pre-coloured images, I thought I would go with it and see what I could come up with.

What do you think? I used this week's Unscripted Sketches #102 for the layout and I even did the piggyback challenge to use something recycled! Can you guess what it is? That swirly "wire" behind Christian is actually a guitar string. Whenever dearly beloved changes the strings on his guitars (he has half a dozen or so of them), I always snag them with plans to put them to use on my cards.

        card details:
        • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
        • stamped image: Christian from Simply Betty Stamps, stamped with Memento Tuxedo black on Prism Simply Smooth. Coloured with Copic Markers (E00, E000, E25, YG63, YG67, G21, E35, E37, E39, C1, C3, C5, C7, T2, YR04, YR02)
        • patterned papers: CTMH You Rock
        • CTMH Textured Outdoor Denim and Goldrush cardstock, Outdoor Denim Brads.
        • sentiment: The Greeting Farm Creepin' 8.5 x 11 Set
        additional challenges for this card:
Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.

Sweet Stop Sketch 104 for Easter

        Hi folks,

back again to share a couple more of this year's Easter cards.  But first I have to do a little pat on my own back (pat pat pat) - guess who is featured today over at the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps blog for my Egg-cited Cocoa Easter cards? That's right - me me! I think that is just so neat!

Anyways, back to today's card share.

For both I used this week's sketch from the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog - and I included the spin: Winged Things! The two cards are basically the same - the difference being the image used (Lily Bee and Lily Butterfly from Pink Cat Studio) and the mix of papers from Echo Park Paper Co's Sweet Summertime.

        card details:
        • finished size: 6x6 inches
        • Pink Cat Studio Lily Bee and Lily Butterfly coloured with Copic Markers (Lily Bee: E000, E00, E01, E93, E34, E57, E47, C9, C7, C8, Y00, Y02, Y04, Y06, Y19. Lily Butterfly: E000, E00, E01, E93, E30, E31, E55, RV02, RV10, YG17, RV11, YG13)
        • Spellbinders: Petite Ovals, Classic Squares
        • EK Success Scalloped Scallops Border Punch
        • Buttons from my stash
        • sentiment from CTMH Holiday Jubilee

          A Lily Bee Easter Card - CPS213

          Hi folks,

Can you believe I am still not finished all of my Easter Cards for this year? Still have a few more to make. Here's another one I made today for a friend's little girl using this week's layout over at CPS

          card details:
          • stamped image: Lily Bee from Pink Cat Studio, coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E93, E30, E31, E55, C9, C7, C8, Y00, Y02, Y04, Y06, Y19)
          • patterned papers: Cosmo Cricket Togetherness
          • I used my 5/8 inch hole punch for the red circles, corner round for the edge of the yellow and blue papers
          additional challenges for this card:
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend! I'll be back tomorrow with a couple more Easter cards I made using this week's Sweet Stop Sketch.

          WOYWW - April 13th

Hi all....I must say I am REALLY late doing this week's WOYWW post.

I forgot to snap a pic last night because I was watching the Russell Crowe movie "Robin Hood" with dearly beloved. I MEANT to do my post after work today but...well, life got in the way until now. There was some paper shopping, relaxing, booty camp class, shower, dinner, some PVRed tv programs with my sweetie and then catching up on blog posts when it hit me that I STILL hadn't done my WOYWW post....

so here you go! A pic of my disaster area(s)

table #1 - messier than usual. Nothing crafty going on. Just a dumping ground the last few days as I tried to sort out other areas in the room. There is a cute stuffed kitteh that I could not resist buying (for myself). There are also some extra Easter images I have coloured up tucked behind one of my lamps. Those will be made into cards the next couple of days as I took the rest of the week off since I am not on-call this week.

table #2 and the space excuses EXCEPT that I was cleaning out the corner of the room and the closet and this became ANOTHER dumping area.  Oh and there are some birthday presents there as well. My new Wacom Bamboo tablet that I have now had for two weeks and have not yet had a chance to plug in and try out. Will remedy that sometime in the next four days! The box on the desk is waiting to be filled with crafty goodies for a friend to use with the kids with whom she works. All those binders and plastic bins - confession time - they are filled with are the white boxes. Apparently paper is not my  only weakness.

Okay and this is some of the stuff that was hiding in the closet that I will be doing something with. Another binder and some boxes of cards (not handmade)....oh, and another new thing....a Ribbon Box that I have not yet had a chance to fill. Again, sometime in the next four days.....

Betcha no one else showed as big a mess as I did this week! And trust me, you didn't see the entire room! The "paper corner" is a REAL disaster.

But if you WOULD like to see everyone else who played along, please pop on over to Julia's post over at her blog, The Stamping Ground. With my four days off I'll be looking around and hoping someone shared a bigger disaster than mine! And maybe I'll get to tidying this up....I do have Easter cards to finish after all.

          ta ta for now!

Viva La Verve - April Week 2

          Hi folks,

I'm playing along again today with the Viva La Verve sketches for April. This time it is the Week 2 sketch shown below:

Don't you just love the simple construction of this layout? Another chance to use up some scraps.

Since I am REALLY late this week with my cards for Sparkle's Christmas card challenge, I decided to make a few more Christmas cards. BTW - this week's challenge (#18) is stitching.

Magnolia Mania is looking for a Canadian DT member

Hi folks, just passing along this little tidbit to my faithful readers (few though you may be).

I saw a post on Eulanda Silvey's blog this morning that Magnolia Mania (a weekly German Magnolia Challenge Blog) is looking for a Canadian DT member. The details are on Eulanda's post here......

Best of luck to anyone who expresses interest.....I think I will ask Eulanda for me details about the position long/do you have to keep current with the "new" Magnolia images/do you have to create the "European style" Magnolia cards.....

A visit from the tooth fairy

          Hi folks,

So one of my nieces has to pay a visit to a dental surgeon - due to the fact that she refuses to see the local dentist. I had mixed feelings about making a card for her - given that it's kind of rewarding bad behaviour. But, I'm hoping that she will think twice about visiting the local dentist after having to go through whatever is in store for her on this visit.

But, I made a card anyways.....

I think it is pretty darn cute actually.

          card details:
          • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches
          • stamps: Pink Cat Studio, Fairy Friends, coloured with Copic Markers (E93, R83, C0, C1, C2, C3, R85, R81, R00)
          • patterned paper: Echo Park Paper Co "Little Girl"
          • Spellbinders: Petite Circles
          • Ribbon, button and flax from my stash
          • EK Success Scalloped Scallops border punch
          • Layout: Card Patterns Sketch 109
          Additional challenges for this card:
I've a busy weekend ahead - I hope to squeeze in some card-making as I still have not yet made this week's Christmas cards.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

          Spooky Birthday in April?

          Hi folks,

Now this card might seem a little odd to some of you for this time of year, especially since it is for a five year old girl, but there is a story behind it.

Friends of ours were planning a "Harry Potter" themed birthday party for their daughter as she turned five this week. Unfortunately, she came down with chicken pox a few days before so the party had to be post-poned. But this is the card I made for her - and was gifted to her on her birthday along with her prezzie. I figured if she is at home sick, she can still get to play with her presents.

I came across this "Spooky Birthday" digi at TiddlyInks and thought it could work for her birthday card, given the theme. I went with the Gryffindor scarlet/garnet colour for the robe so that the card would not look too hallowe'en-y (what with the witch image and all). I know, I know, the Gryffindor robes are not this colour (they are black with this colour trim) but the card is for a little girl and it's a birthday card - not hallowe'en. I also could have put more of the Gryffindor colours into the card - scarlet/garnet with the gold. But....I wanted to keep the card girlie and light. So ... there you have it. A bit unconventional but.....I like. I like to think that it is Hermione or one of the other Gryffindor girls bringing a prezzie and some cake.

          Easter Wishes - April SFYTT

          Hi folks,

I decided to make another Easter card, this time using the April Sketch For You To Try

          Here's my card:

I'm not 100% sure I like this card. All that white space seems a bit stark to me against the dark burgundy-ish paper when I look at this photo. In real life, it doesn't seem so extreme. Maybe it will grow on me.

I do like the little duckling under the umbrella though...maybe I'll redo this card with different papers.

          card details:
          • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches
          • patterned papers: Echo Park Paper Co "A Walk in the Park"
          • stamps: CTMH Springtime (duckling coloured with Copics Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17)
          • buttons: CTMH
          Other challenges for this card:

hope you all have a lovely crafty day!

            WOYWW - April 6th

            Hi folks,

so once again I am playing along with WOYWW, hosted by Julia over at the Stamping Ground

This is my desk as I finished up crafting last night....

Yes, I create in this mess. What's there to see?
            • an Easter Tilda card
            • the sketch I was using for the layout with my scribblings listing the Copics I used to colour the image and the rest of the supplies.
            • my list of Easter cards I need to make/have made. Happy to say MOST of them are done. I have less than ten to go now.
            • there's a plastic shoe box on the right with some of my completed Easter cards.
            • there's also a few scattered stamps I've been using on the cards as well.
So would you like to see the finished card?

Thanks for stopping by -- now you should go back to Julia's blog to check out everyone else who is playing along this week.

            card details:
            • finished size: 6x6 inches
