hopping in to easter...

This card is actually one of the projects that we made at Jenn's workshop in Rideau Ferry. It was so pretty that I had to send it to my parents for Easter. My photography skills suck if you haven't figured that out already - or maybe I just need a DSLR....hear that Mr. Easter Bunny?




The card has an acetate base, a painted background on the front {inside} and then all the paperwork is on the outside. An awesome design by Jenn. She's my paper-crafting hero. You should check out her blog . She always has something amazingly cool or cute to ooh and ahh over.

It's getting late for me....tune in tomorrow when I'll post another half dozen or so Easter cards I made this week.

The disaster that is my craft room

This picture was taken before I ventured into my craft room last weekend to quickly make a few cards....


It hasn't got any better. And I NEED to quilt this weekend......I sense a problem here.

Another April Family Birthday

My Mom's eldest sister celebrates a birthday on Easter Sunday and I was inspired to make this card in celebration. The sketch is from a sketch from Sheetload of Cards (see the link on the left side-bar).

The paper and ribbon are all CTMH. I had an excuse to use my new EK-Success border punch for the cute edge on the front flap.
Those little flowers on the right are a find for $.75 at Zellers (for a pack of four) and they worked just perfectly with the colours on this card.


I used one of my nestabilities circles to draw the semi-circle on the inner panel and then simply cut it with my scissors -- which have since gone MIA in my craft room (more on that later).


And here you can see the sentiment stamped on the inner panel. This one is from Verve Stamps. I love the flourishes on these birthday sentiments. I'm going to work on conditioning my non-CTMH acrylic stamps so they pick up the ink from my CTMH ink pads a little better. I believe it was on SCS that I was reading (maybe from Beate) that you could do this with a pencil eraser. I will let you know how that goes.

So...I liked the card and hope my Aunt does too!

Another early April birthday

My neighbour down the street celebrated his birthday last weekend as well. I found the inspiration for his card from one of the Sheetload E-Zine issues. I took a slight liberty with the sketch but I think the tilted balloon panel works.


I cuttlebugged the card base front and used DP from the CTMH "It's a Guy Thing" paper pack. The stamped images are from Verve Stamps.

I've also decided I need to work on jazzing up the insides of my cards. So...here is an attempt at doing that.


No fancy punches for those photo corner fakes. Simply cut a couple of 2inch squares on the diagonal and then cut out the little bit with a ruler and a craft knife. Who says I need all those fancy-schmancy tools?...ooops...that was me.

Well it's about time....

I have apparently been making cards and just not finding the time to post them. So now it is time to play catch-up.

My dearly beloved's younger brother had a birthday last weekend and ALL week I had this idea in my head for his birthday card. Really, it is inspired by a running joke. Who (?) is the black sheep in the blended family - or just how many of them there are!





The card didn't quite turn out as I had envisioned. Once I got stamping all the cute little Pink Cat Studio black sheep I just wanted to keep using black paper! So I managed to dig out of my {shhhh....ever-growing} stash some plaid {gotta keep it scottish you know}. Some ribbon {shhh...slightly smaller stash}. Then I just HAD to ...I mean HAD to use my brand new Nestabilities die I got just that morning from Heather's Stamping Haven.

Shout Out To SheetLoad

So, no card from me today but I do have an AWESOME site to share.

Sheetload of Cards publishes a monthly e-zine with a sketch and cutting diagrams to maximize getting a bunch of cards from just a few sheets of paper. How cool is that?

Personally, I think it is AWESOME since I have resolved to A) use up some of my paper stash B) give tons of cards away to people just because C) make 10 christmas cards per month for the first 11 months of the year.

The reason I found this awesome site is because of The Greeting Farm - they are featured in this month's e-zine!

I hope it is okay that I am including the front page of their e-zine here. If not, please someone from the site let me know and I will edit the post.

Practically Perfect - Welcome Baby

That's not me being immodest - it is the name of the stamp set used for this card. I was one of the lucky winners of one of the March Release Stamps sets from Verve Stamps. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance to use the cute little bunny. A dear friend was looking for a Welcome Baby card at the card stores and could not find one....so I volunteered.
This cute little number only took about 20 minutes to make and mostly assemble. The bunny I finished this morning - maybe another 5 minutes. I think I will have to make a few more of these - boy, girl and generic just to stash or toss into the sets of cards I like to give away.



The card is 5 x 6.5 inches. The round panels are nestabilities die cuts and the bunny was coloured with watercolour pencils (twice) with the second image cut out and popped up. Good to finally start using some of my stash of papers.
