Okay, so for those of you who don't know, I am a database administrator. And now it seems that my work life and my hobby life have to collide.
As I write this I am downloading OpenOffice (oops, just finished...must now install). Back in a sec....

See, my stamp collection and other crafting tools desperately need to be properly inventoried. I'm a little obsessive about organizing things. So, what better way than to create a database? Mmm hmmm. Like I need something else on my to-do list right? Anyways, I think it will be worthwhile. I already have data model in my mind's eye so....
yeah, I'm a nerd.
I'll be able to keep track of the manufacturer, website, image. I'll categorize them for easy searches...blah blah blah.
Oh I am SUCH a nerd.

Love - From the Crop for the Cure
This is another card that was made at the Crop for the cure in one of the card workshops in which I participated. The flower is three layers, popped up for dimension. I believe it was an example of Second Generation stamping - where you only ink the stamp once and stamp multiple, fading images from the same stamp. It has a soft, romantic, victorian feel to it I think.

Ahhhh, toiling in the garden. This is me taking an early coffee break yesterday morning. At this point I don't think anything had actually been planted - or if it had there were just a couple of tomatoes in the ground.
Note the STYLISH attire -- guffaw. Dearly beloved's old denim shirts come in very handy since I am somewhat vampiric in nature and really don't tolerate the sun all that well. Must be covered head to toe when in the garden.
Speaking of which, here it is.
After six hours of digging, the plants I had purchased were in the ground. Yes, that does seem a bit long considering how much I planted but I insist on putting weed barrier over the entire garden and it takes longer to plant because of that.
I apparently underestimated how many plants I needed this year and will have to take another trip to the garden centre. I did have to leave space for the structures we are going to put in for the beans and peas on the right but I still need some more things down front and in the middle. Not sure what though as I planted everything I wanted. There's 11 tomato plants across the back row, ten basil (mixed varieties), ten peppers (5 sweet, 5 hot), tons more herbs (rosemary, lemon thyme, sage, cilantro, stevia, parsley...well there WAS parsley), eggplant, cantaloupe, zucchini.
As for the PARSLEY- thanks to the evil GROUNDHOG I need to buy more parsley. Seriously, the garden was finished at 3:00pm. A little after 4:30, dearly beloved and I were getting ready to leave for dinner at a friend's house when I saw the insolent cur in the backyard. When I chased him off I saw that he had eaten my parsley plant. Apparently the salad bar is open.
To say I am NOT impressed is an understatement. We hadn't seen him in about two weeks and today he makes his appearance. GRRRRRRRR

Early morning shopping
Well, I am up and trying to wake up enough to dig out the supplies to repair my vegetable garden watering system. Did my veggie garden cleanup last night. This is the garden BEFORE the cleanup.
Well, before my cleanup. Dearly beloved had already done quite a bit of weeding on the right hand side and sorting out of the rocks the groundhogs had pushed in from the back wall. Unfortunately he also tilled. Mmm hmm. And created a few punctures in the headers for the in-ground watering. I'm just hoping I have enough repair materials on hand and DON'T have to go Lee Valley this morning. Really, how hard is it to stay away from where I ran the headers? Oh well, at least he did some of the prep-work for me.
It only took me two hours to go from what you see above to this....
So....enough meandering, the real reason for the post is that while I'm trying to wake up, I'm reading my email and see that My Sentiments Exactly has a promotion right now of 100 unmounted sentiment stamps (no duplicates) for just $24.99 plus $7.75 S&H (USD). So, I had to order. In CAD that's just $37.62 with the conversion this morning.

Dilemmas, Dilemmas, Dilemmas
What IS a person with too many hobbies to do?
FINALLY the weather here in the Nation's capital is going to cooperate and favour us gardeners with some REASONABLE planting weather. So, off to Richmond Nursery I went after work today and picked up a trunk FULL of veggies and herbs to plant in my veggie garden. I am ITCHING to get at it but first the garden has to be tidied up a bit more. Dearly beloved has already done a wonderful job on getting a lot of the detritus out of there but there is still a little bit left to go. That will be tomorrow night while dearly beloved is out playing D&D.
The first dilemma comes with what was in my mailbox today- my 120 pack of PrismaColor Premier pencils arrived today!!! YAYYYYYY EBAYYYYYY! But just in time for planting weekend. Boooooooooo...
The second dilemma has to do with my stop at Heather's on the way home today. Two more Tilda's (with balloons and with a present), a cute Stamp Barn stamp of two girls walking along (perfect for sisters, friends or mom and daughter cards) and some FLOWERSOFT have been added to the craft room.
And third dilemma? Well, Jenn is going to be stopping by on Saturday to drop off all my new Doodlefactory goodies she picked up for me on her Syracuse trip last week.
Good thing she won't be stopping by until LATE saturday. Incentive for me to start planting AS SOON as I get up saturday morning -- although I'm betting my neighbours would think I was REALLY nutty if I'm puttering around in the back yard at 4:30am. I'm betting the raccoons won't like me either.
So, looks like a busy weekend ahead for me. Hopefully by Sunday there will be some crafting time so I can post some new cards!

June Sheetload of Cards with Carl
Aren't social networks little tattle-tales? I saw something tonight that I am very happy to say spilled the beans on a co-worker's birthday tomorrow. Phew! The June issue of Sheetload of Cards came to my rescue for a quick card sketch to use.
And, lucky for me I had visited Deserres and Michael's yesterday and picked up some masculine looking papers. I stamped a couple of Carl the Cupcake (from Stamps and Smiles), coloured him with my watercolours (my prismas are on their way as of May 27th) and cut out and popped up the second image. I did the edge of the blue panel with one of my EK success border punches. Inside the card I stamped the sentiment "A little cupcake told me....it's your birthday!". Said co-worker should not be eating REAL cupcakes as he is recovering from some cardiac episodes from the last year... and is only in his mid-forties!
So, I think I did pretty good for a quick masculine card. I really need to try to keep a few on-hand.
