Hi folks...tonight there WILL be papercrafting! Yay!
But I wanted to post about something I think I am going to try to do. I was poking around on SCS and came across this thread in the forums section regarding making cards for members of the CANADIAN military.
So, I think I'm going to give it a try. I contacted the organizer and got a few details from her and am thinking this is a good way to whittle down that HUGE stash of papers I keep hoarding.
Just thought I would pass along the idea in case anyone else out there is interested in doing the same. I'm betting Sheetload of Cards issues would come in handy for this!

A Dressy Miss Anya For You

So there is a funny story to tell about this card. I made it for today's September PaperCard Kit Post over at the PaperWorksCo blog
And the next day, I saw a challenge posted on one of the new challenge sites I follow and I went "Wow - who was spying on me in my craft room?" Yup -- take a look at the first challenge from Crazy4Challenges . Freaked me out I'm telling you!

Two nights of no paper-crafting
Hi there folks!
I know, I know, I haven't posted for a couple of days now. The men of the house are conspiring against me - as I speak, Packet is nudging my arm to say he wants to cuddle on my lap...which is currently occupied by my laptop...just a sec....okay...so he's being a little stand-offish now...sitting there looking at me now.
Anyways, last night the cats played revolving lap....they quite literally took turns occupying the lap.
Tonight, dearly beloved was playing the new "The Beatles" edition of Rockband....and the kitties were taking turns in the lap....so, I did not get up to the craft room...again.
ooops....kitty pause....or should I say paws?...Packet has now cuddled...laptop pushed aside.
Anyways....oh...there he goes again....silly cat.
Where was I? Oh yes, have you checked out www.fontsy.com ......I blame dearly beloved. Nearly 5000 free fonts.....some are UBER cool....I'm grabbing some now....lovely for card-making.

Celebrating Mom
Well, technically, my dearly beloved's Mom. Her birthday was last week and I made this card using the September PaperCard Kit from PaperWorksCo .

The Safari Friends Speak!
Shhhhh...if you listen carefully you can hear the animals ....
Yay! Not only did the Safari Friends find Zoie, they found their voices! PaperWorksCo has released coordinating sentiments for their stamp collections.
For the launch of the sentiments for the Safari friends, I decided to create a little set of cards with a matching box to showcase 5 of the new sentiments - trust me, though, there are more than that in the set!
This is the little box I made. I followed the 3x3 note card box tutorial on SplitcoastStampers to make this - I just adjusted it to fit slightly larger cards (mine were 4.25 x 4.25).
And these are the cards (yes there will be envelopes included in the box).
On the Lucas card, I used a Scor-Pal to create lines on the Core'dinations card stock to match up with the DP strip. I lightly sanded the score lines so the Pistachio green would show through. I do love the Core'dinations paper, must stop hoarding it.
And little Gordie. Awww....notice that all the Safari friends have their heads popped up? Love that dimensional foam tape!
For the Harriet card, I thought it would be appropriate to emboss the Core'dinations paper with my Birds and Swirls folder - ummm, yeah. Good idea. Then I was a bit of a dolt and covered the birds with the other panels. Oh well.
And then sweet, new Zoie. Zebra - stripes. Striped paper. Sentiment. Ummm...I know, too obvious. But I think still cute.

The Zoie baby set
Good Morning once again!
As promised {threatened}, I am back with another post with more of my projects from the September Launch for PaperWorksCo . Warning - this is a long post!
It started out that I was going to do just a onesie featuring the new Safari friend, Zoie the Zebra. But, well, things got out of hand and I wound up making this:
The onesie is the reason I was testing out inks for their durability on fabric. Ultimately I preferred the ink that explicity stated it wasn't to be used on fabric! Black Stazon! I just found that the lines stayed finer. And since I was tracing over them with black fabric marker anyway - I stuck with the Stazon. I used Marvy Uchida Fashion Fabric Markers in Black, Grey, Strawberry, Magenta, Apple Green and Green to colour Zoie. I have to get my hands on a few more (checked out my closest M's yesterday and they did NOT have the others for which I was looking) to do the rest of the Safari friends. Well, I can do Harriet with the colours I already have - but not Gordie and Lucas or the Jungle Jesters.
So you can't make a onesie without a card to go with it. So, I came up with a cute {I think} card to go with. Honestly, I think the card was my favourite thing that I created for the launch. Yes, that's me expressing a preference.
I don't know why - it just is. I think it might be the Harmony alphabet font I used for the sentiment. It just feels so graceful.
I don't use my Cuttlebug alphabets nearly enough, which is a shame really. That little strip along the bottom? That is actually one of the stickers from the paper pack I used on all of my projects - Basic Grey Offbeat. I added a few brads to it for a little something extra.

Zoie is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with PrismaColor Pencils (928, 1051, 1050 and 1052)

So, I could not leave well enough alone. I had WANTED to make a little photo mat/frame using Zoie, but my mojo was saying "You need ALL of the Safari friends". Mojo was right and this was the end product.
So for anyone who is interested and a goober like me - Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eight is GREAT for 4x6 photo sized apertures. The goober part comes in how I achieved the aperture on an 8x10 (and 7x9) piece of paper. Instead of pulling out my Cricut and Design Studio software and using my cartridge that has a similar cut on it (can't remember the name right now), I got inventive and used a rolling pin. Not just any rolling pin, mind you, my MARBLE rolling pin. Works pretty well. My sandwich? From the bottom up:

Morning all!
The second thing I read this morning (the first being an article about the Super Computer Centre building a machine that uses flash drives - cool) was about this one from WordPress dated Sept 5 2009. So yes, it is current.
It is a cautionary note to users of WordPress for their blogs that if they are not running the current version (2.8.4) or the immediately previous version, that they should upgrade because they are vulnerable to attack from a circulating worm. The worm breaks links in the blog. Upgrading BEFORE you are hit is easier than fixing your blog after the fact.
Just saying....
you might want to point this out to any bloggers you follow who use Wordpress.
