Metal Queen

Uh huh...curious about the title for my second post for today? Well, it all has to do with this card I made for my dearly beloved's brother's birthday tomorrow...




and the UCC9 challenge I issued today over at PaperWorksCo. Check it out and play along!

And just a little note - I will be visiting my family in Newfoundland for the next little while so, except for my upcoming post on Friday for PaperWorksCo, you probably won't be seeing me around the blogiverse for the next couple of weeks....unless I hijack an unsecured wireless connection near my parents house or my brother or sister don't mind their nerd sister spending hours using THEIR respective internet connections instead of visiting with them and their families. That would probably be rude of me huh?

Well, I'll be trying to squeeze some crafting supplies into my suitcase so maybe I'll have some pics of some new cards for you when I get back. I'm thinking my November PaperCard kit, some pre-stamped Little Loud Stamp and Pink Cat Studio Christmas stamp images, my prismas, blending stumps and OMS will find their way into my bags. Oh, and the Jingle Papers from CTMH, my uber cool scissors from Heather's....oh, all the TGF images I have to colour for cards for my sister....hmmm...will my paper trimmer fit into my big suitcase I wonder? Let's see....my brother's quilt....ummm, I guess I'm BUYING clothes to wear when I get there huh? A girl has to have her priorities straight.....probably CAN'T squeeze in the Cuttlebug, folders and nestabilities though...

Even I sparkle

Hi there! My first post for today is a card that encompasses two challenges!




Recognize the sketch? It is Melissa's Sketch #18 from Tuesday Morning Sketches . I've been a follower of her challenge blog since it started up - I wish I had more time to play along every week as her sketches are always fun and inspiring.

This is also my card in response to Peggy's UCC8 challenge over at PaperWorksCo. I apparently took the statement "the blingy-er, the better" to heart because even I think I went a little bit crazy on this one!

Blingy paper.....blingy dew drops .... and I made Edward (from TGF) SPARKLE!!!!! Trust me, I was sparkling too from all the glitter!!! I have this REALLY super fine glitter I got from CTMH that was just perfect for this card. It is going to a friend tonight for her birthday - she's a fan of Twilight and we will be going to see New Moon when it hits the local cinema.

Snow Angels

Hi folks.

The card is fitting given that we had some snowfall here it Ottawa around dinner time last night (la la la la - I can't hear you!).

November a busy month at PaperWorksCo

Hi there....just a quick note to pass on some birthday wishes to PaperWorksCo


Two years old! Wow! I couldn't believe it - if I am not mistaken, I think I placed my first order with Peggy's little school project back in January of 2008.

To celebrate, Peggy will be announcing all sorts of deals - via the store, blog, twitter and the newsletter. Hopefully you subscribe to all so you don't miss out on any of the bargains.

For example, until Nov 2 10PM MT (that's midnight ET), you can get double the credit to your craft fund! How is that for awesome?

The November PaperCard Kit is also out and believe me, you have to see it. When mine arrived in the mailbox I actually took the time to send Peggy an email to exclaim "Holy Moly" ... seriously, I did.


I don't know about you, but I find the kits are always very generous. Try as I might I can't seem to use up everything in just one month. I think this one is going to be a real challenge because there are just so many supplies. The Colorful Christmas Collection from MME was my choice of papers, you might remember, when the Little Loud Stamps debuted at PaperWorksCo - so you KNOW I love this kit! It may have to go to Newfoundland with me so I can craft while on vacation.

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins...

Hi there! How was YOUR Hallowe'en? Well, I spent the day carving pumpkins - eight of them. Well, technically, I only did seven. Dearly beloved carved one of them (kudos to him though for helping me gut all of them - he has motives though...roasted pumpkin seeds today).

Since I didn't get to paper-craft and have no card-in-waiting to show you, I thought I would show you these daylight pics of the 'kins.

This is dearly beloved's "Eye of Sauron" (he wanted to do a D20 but none of the pumpkins was really suitable).



The thinned out parts look really cool with the glowing light inside.


This is my partner pumpkin "Mouth of Sauron".


This one is a little cheerier looking, with his gourd nose.


Again, the thinned out parts glow with the light inside.

A fairly plain, ordinary pumpkin. Not too scary.



This one is a little more ominous....


My Boo pumpkin...



This one has eyes that are somewhat cat-like - an homage to my poor fur-babies who had to spend the night locked in the bedroom so they would not run out through the door.



And we call this one the "redneck" pumpkin.....you can guess why....



Note: this post is scheduled. I am hoping the fur-babies let me take advantage of the extra hour of sleep but somehow, I think they will have me up at 4:00am anyway.

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins

Okay so this REALLY is being written at the GAWD awful hour you see on this post. Kitties don't understand "fall back". I even explained it to them! Oh and I DID write a version of this while attending to the trick or treaters -- but it magically disappeared from my scheduled posts. I suspect I put some sort of wonky date on it and now it is in the archives somewhere and me unable to find it. So, if you see this twice.....apologies to you....but can you tell me the date on the other one?

I thought I would show you my pumpkins this year. I only did eight....

This one is fairly tame....with a gourd for a nose. The thinned out eyes glowed nicely when lit.




Also a fairly simple pumpkin...


Dearly beloved's nerd pumpkin - the Eye of Sauron. He wanted to do a D20 but ... well, that fell through. Maybe next year.


My nerd pumpkin - Mouth of Sauron. I wanted to do a Death Star but...well, I'll be getting a HUGE pumpkin to do that next year. Or maybe I can grow my own at Jenn's place.

And these are the pumpkins all aglow -- it is really hard to photograph them in the dark, without a flash so you can see the lights so I apologize for the worse than usual picture quality.







And yes, seeds will be roasted today.
