Back to Birthdays

Hi All....so, this week I have to take a break from Christmas cards and get the last of my November birthday cards finished. I am finding it VERY hard to switch the mojo from Christmas to birthday - and to complicate matters.....there are upcoming MALE birthdays to deal with! No frills!



So, I tried my hand at paper-piecing this birthday cake for a friend who celebrates this week. I dunno. I'm feeling kind of "meh" about it....I'm missing all the fun from the MME Colorful Christmas paper I think. This one feels rather blah to me.

My Christmas Tilda a la Danielle

Hi there,

Just thought I would share the card I made in Danielle's Christmas Tilda Workshop at Heather's Stamping Haven.



All the credit for the layout and image selection goes to Danielle. My colouring attempt - well, I think it is passable since I find myself somewhat on the challenged side when water-colouring with Tombo Markers. I know I like how everything on the card turned out (patting myself on the back).

Quiltzilla

So, just a quick little break from the card posts to report that YES I did deliver "Quilt-Zilla" to my brother and his girlfriend during my visit to Newfoundland.

Here's the proof -- goober me sitting on the quilt in my Mom's living room.



Quilt-Zilla in all it's gargantuan glory. I think it finally measured 108 inches square. I think. I'd have to check to be sure. It might be more.

My signature on the back of the quilt. I only put the year of completion in my sig and did not include the year I started (2007). Yes it took me 27 months from the time I purchased the fabric to the time I handed it over.



During that time, my brother and his family moved back to Newfoundland from Alberta. But, I'm picky about when I can work on a quilt and encountered a few setbacks while making it. Learned that I could not be trusted with coffee in the craft room. I can honestly say that blood, sweat, tears and COFFEE went into the making of this quilt.

But, it is finally finished. Now I have to make the matching pillow shams. Hopefully that won't take me two years.

PaperworksCo UCC10

Phewie! I completed my card for the UCC10 challenge over at Paperworks just under the wire thanks to my vacation to Newfoundland and lack of internet access! Yippers, I whipped this one together just last night using the November PaperCard Kit from PaperworksCo and one of the many images I coloured while on holiday!

And well, in my rush, my card may not be completely compliant with the UCC10 challenge.

I HAVE just returned from vacation and did not get to COMPLETE any projects while in Newfoundland. However, I hope I remember to take pictures of the dozens of images I coloured for Christmas cards. You can bet that ALL of my new Christmas Freckles stamps from the Little Loud Stamps line at PaperworksCo were put to good use. Oh, all my Christmas stamps from Pink Cat Studio. My youngest niece was in love with the cute little penguin and itty bitty Betty and Bobby!

So thanks for being patient while I've been away. There should be LOTS of creating this weekend!
