The Zach and Zoe Collection

Hi folks....so I finally got around to taking a photo of the cute (and practical) tin in which the Zach and Zoe Sports 1 Collection from PaperWorksCo comes.

How cute is that? And inside....

Now, back to tidying up my craft table so I can resume quilting! I get to meet little Miss Ava tomorrow! Yay! I wonder if I will be brave enough to try holding her?

PaperWorksCo February PaperCard Kit

Hi folks...well, I decided to take a couple of hours this morning away from quilting to work on a card set for a friend who I hope to see next week for a lunch for her birthday that was actually on February 5th.  Well, that was nearly 5 hours ago but I am happy to say the card set is complete. Warning - this is a long post as I am including photos of all of the cards.

I made twelve cards in about four hours using the February PaperCard Kit from PaperWorksCo (plus card bases I made from Staples 110 lb 8.5 x 11 cardstock).

I used the same layout for all of the cards - this week's sketch from PaperWorksCo

I had a new stamp set - the January Stamp Of The Month from CTMH - True Friends, which was perfectly suited to this sketch - it has four fancy frames that I stamped in Memento Pure Cocoa. To these I added the sentiments in the stamp set as well as sentiments from CTMH Moments.

These are the cards from the set. I used the Spellbinders Small and Large Deckled rectangles for the panels behind the fancy frames. I thought the frame needed a little more punch so I used my white gel pen to outline the deckled rectangle mat.

 

I hope my friend likes the set. I think it has a very retro feel thanks to the papers - Simple Pleasures from 3 Bugs in a Rug. Of course, now I  have to make the birthday card that will be given with these and maybe a pretty tag.

I imagine I will try to do something with my leftovers from making these cards from the kit. I have twelve strips that are 2 x 6 and .75 x 4 from each of the DPs and six pieces that are 5 x 5.5 from the card fronts. Not to mention the three untouched pieces of cardstock....and ribbons, buttons, flowers and dew drops! Oh, in case you are wondering about the diecuts from My Mind's Eye that are in the pic of the kit -- my kit did not seem to have that included but I still did not even notice that they were missing until I wrote this post. That's how generous the REST of the embellishments are in the kit! (ETA -  how sweet is this? Peggy read my post and my diecuts are on their way - I told her to wait until my Spellbinders Pre-order comes in though. Did you remember to take advantage of the pre-order? You have until friday! Now I'll have to make even more cards with my kit!)

By the way, this is something I have wanted to do for a long time - take one of the PaperCard Kits and use it exclusively to make a card set for someone. I mean, you can't beat the economics of it. For $11.99 I made twelve cards - and still have leftovers! Try going to a card store and see what you get for that price!

Time out for a card

so I am missing card making SO much and I needed a birthday card for a coworker's birthday this coming Friday that I took a couple of hours this morning to make a card - well two cards actually. I made basically the same card for dearly beloved's brother's birthday in early March. Apparently, March is the male birthday month for me -- my brother, dearly beloved's brother, my uncle and dearly beloved. All of them in the first half of March. No female birthdays!

Anyways, here are the cards:

I used sketch 29 from the Sketch and Stash Challenge blog for the layout. The papers are recent additions to my collection - CTMH You Rock. The buttons I used are very old - from my stash (they were found this weekend while I was looking for something while I was quilting -- it was like a treasure hunt!). I also added some dew drops and stickles to the cupcakes to give them a little bling. The ribbon is from my stash of little ribbon rounds that I picked up at Fabricland a little while back.

The stamped images are from StarvingArtistamps Doodlefactory Collection (a couple of different sets actually) - I guess the quilt has me in a Doodlefactory mood! Speaking of which....back to sewing for a few hours! Maybe I'll get to make another card tonight!

just checking in

still no cards....working on the baby quilt....and yes, baby arrived on time on February 11 so....I'm really late with the quilt!

But, had to do a quick post. I discovered yesterday that blogger limits you to 300 blogs to follow. So....since I have everything in my google reader, I am removing my "follow" for all the blogs to which I am subscribed. Don't be offended if I'm not on your list any more....I'm still getting your feed through my google reader. Although, when I need a break from quilting I'm going to clean up my google reader as well. My "crafty faves" will remain though....those blogs that truly give me inspiration on a regular basis.

I discovered TODAY that the bobbin you use in your sewing machine can be very important - it can be the source of hours of frustration when trying to satin stitch on applique. Switch to a METAL bobbin and the problem goes away. Would have been better for my hand if I figured this out BEFORE I lay a beating on my sewing machine yesterday as it is painful for me to type now. Note: I bought 100 metal bobbins tonight on ebay (less than $20 canadian!) and will be tossing ALL of my plastic bobbins if anyone wants any. Not that many....maybe 30 or so....just let me know.

I'm really missing my card making....especially since I got my latest order from PaperWorksCo today. Oh my goodness, when I get a chance I am going to have to photograph the neat storage tin containing the new stamp collection - the sporty  Zach and Zoe! And all the fab creations from the DT has me itching to crack open my February PaperCard kit...it's taunting me on the counter right now....

Included in my package was my blog candy I won as well - just for playing along with the weekly sketch (posted Sundays on the PaperWorksCo blog) and uploading a link to my card I won one of the new stamps. So I picked one that I will be giving to a crafty friend of mine....I'm sure she will enjoy creating with the little cutie! Thanks Peggy!

I think I might need to take part in some card-making therapy tomorrow night while dearly beloved goes to volleyball...even if it is a clean and simple. I NEED MY CARD-MAKING FIX!!!!

Ribbon flowers at Fabricland

Hi folks...still no card post from me but I thought I would pass along this little tip. I just got back from Fabricland (picking up still more fabric for Jenn's baby quilt) and happened across what  I think was a good buy while there. Fabricland has their ribbon flowers on sale - buy one pack and get another four packs free. And they don't have to all be the same. I picked up five different packages of 10 ribbon flowers for just $1.99 (and I think I got my members discount on top of that as well). so....less than $2 for 50 ribbon flowers! I may need to go back and get more!

They are on the right hand side of the island at which you find the cash. Can't miss it!

The coolest envelopes ever

Okay so I'm still not being crafty do to work and exhaustion but I have to share the coolest thing I saw on Lifehacker today -- envelopes made from google maps!
