A Verve Tag

Hi again,

well, before I settle back into the couch with my sweetie and our kitties, I thought I would make up a quick tag to go with the card set I made a while back for a friend of mine. No, we STILL haven't been able to get together for lunch and her birthday was more than a month ago. I think I am going to have to kidnap her to get this lunch into her!

Anyways, the fourth challenge for the Verve March Release was to make a tag!

I used the Verve Wishful Elegance set for the sentiment and the papers are from my February PaperCard Kit from PaperWorksCo. It will coordinate perfectly with the card set.

Okay, that's it for me for today! Off to the couch!

Clean and Simple - with Verve

Hi folks,

so I could not stay out of the craft room today after all. The Verve March Release Challenges were calling to me. So, I started with the first one - clean and simple, with flowers.

I must confess, though you rarely see them here on my blog, my favourite style of card is Clean and Simple. I think it is because there are just SO many beautiful sentiment stamps out there (and trust me I have quite the collection of stamps). This one is from Verve's Hundred Hearts Set.

When you combine a lovely sentiment with some gorgeous papers (love this burgundy dotted swiss from my February PaperCard kit from PaperWorksCo) and a fancy embellie (a water lily flower from Martha Stewart and a glitzy button from my stash), you can make a fairly nice card, fairly quickly. Mind you, this card is about an inch thick so it won't be going in the post - I don't know if it will even go into an envelope when I give it to my sweetie. I think I will be saving it for our 10th anniversary of being together in May.

By the way, I took the Copic plunge. Not only am I on the wait-list for the class here in Ottawa, I decided to buy my first set of Copics. Since I had no idea what to get, I went to the Magnolia-licious site and bought the Magnolia Sketch Collection #1 - that's 35 markers plus a blender. I know, go big or go home. I figured that until I get used to picking my own colours, having someone else put together a set is a good idea. Plus, I would like to practice a bit with them BEFORE (fingers crossed) I take the class. Boy, it will be a real let-down if I don't get to take it. Anyways, I guess my markers and my class will be my birthday gift to me this year.

I still don't have any new cards to show, I'm taking a bit of a break from all the crafting today. My neck is protesting all the quilting from the last three days - I did make incredible progress. I have actually begun quilting the top of the quilt now. Then it will be on to the binding  (the hardest part for me).

Spring cleaning at PaperWorksCo

So, you might want to spend some time browsing around the store. There have been lots of  yummy goodies added recently - beautiful papers, new stamps, yummy embellies. And don't forget that Peggy stocks Copic markers, inks and Spellbinders (the new release is excluded from the discount but there's still lots of others to choose from!).

By the way, I've been put on the wait list for the Copic Certification class being held here in Ottawa on May 2nd. I won't know until three weeks before hand if I get in or not so....fingers crossed. You know I'll be like a kid waiting for Christmas. It's going to be a long few weeks until then.

A new release from PaperWorksCo and Copic Certification in Ottawa

so I'm terribly excited that I got new goodies today...from CTMH and Pink Cat Studio.....and even more excited to read the post over at PaperWorksCo that there is a new release on March 12.

And I ALSO saw that there is going to be a Copic Certification class here in OTTAWA on May 2!!!!!! Finally!!!! Sadly, it is only open to stores and designers. But, that's probably a good thing or I would HAVE to jump onto the Copic bandwagon and take the class if it was open to the public.

So....for any of you who are local and associated with a store or are a designer .... here's your chance to get Copic Certified.....

by the way.....I had a VERY GOOD DAY quilting. Too good....I had to stop around 5:00pm because my arms and fingers were so sore....and I'm still sewing on the machine!!! I'm hoping my sore muscles and finger joints recover enough by tomorrow morning so I can resume. I have ALMOST finished the applique on the front of the quilt...ALMOST.

Card Patterns 53 and Quixotic 16

Hi folks,

I'm taking a couple of days off work this week - not on call! Yay! So I'll be hopefully making lots of progress on Ava's quilt. In fact, as soon as I finish writing this, I'll be clearing away the card-making paraphernalia, re-threading the correct thread in my sewing machine and gunning the motor!

But first I had to get this card made to pop into the mail for my uncle who has his 70th birthday on March 12th.

I used sketch #53 from Card Patterns for the layout. I layered two ribbons from my stash for the vertical stripes in the sketch.

The papers are from the CTMH Twitterpated collection and I thought they would be perfect for a masculine card.

The stamped leaves and sentiment are from Verve and work great for Quixotic Challenge #16: Leave it out! I first inked the leafy stamp with Sweet Leaf and then lightly inked just the edges with New England Ivy to give a little more depth to the image.

The sentiment is stamped with New England Ivy and cut out with Spellbinders Petite Circles (Small and Large).

Of course, I felt the image panel needed a little more oomph so I pulled out a few dew drops from my stash as well.

Well, that's my card-making therapy for today. Off to quilt and wait for dearly beloved to get home from work so I can go pick up a package at Purolator! I think it might be my February order from CTMH!!! yay! more goodies!

March PaperCard Kit now available at PaperWorksCo

Hi all....have you checked out PaperWorksCo since March came in like a lamb? Or maybe in your part of the world it came in like a lion?

That old saying ties in really well with the papers in this month's kit - from the Animal Stackers Collection from 3BugsInARug! I ordered mine today and can just see it working perfectly with the Safari Friends and Jungle Jesters stamp sets - PaperWorksCo's own collection of cute rubber stamps.

I can't wait for my order to arrive as my new Spellbinders from the recent release will be coming as well! I of course ordered all the new labels dies as well as the pendants and their matching borders. So...you might want to jump quickly to snag any that Peggy still has left in stock. She did send out a newsletter yesterday though saying that she has already reordered some that moved very quickly. So...if you want a die that shows as out of stock, just drop her a line to see if it has already been reordered.
