An Offbeat Grillafella Birthday

Hi Everybody! How about a break from Mother's day cards?


Well, I gingerly made my way into my disaster area of a craft room tonight and managed to whip up this card for a friend of my dearly beloved. His birthday was almost two weeks ago and they have not yet got together for a session of D&D so I have had a bit of leeway with getting this card assembled!

So, here is the card I came up with to celebrate his birthday - albeit a bit late. Lucky for me this month's challenge theme at SRM is to celebrate life so, this card will be entered for that challenge since it celebrates my dearly beloved's childhood friend's birthday.

I used another of the Stamping Bella GrillaFella images I had coloured up a few weeks ago (I still have one left and with Father's Day coming - you can bet SOMEONE is going to get a card featuring this fella). The sentiment is my one of my favourite Happy Birthday stamps from CTMH - yes, you have seen it before!

The image panels are die cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities Deckled Rectangles (Small and Large) and the sentiment panels are Petite Circles (Small and Large).

The DP is from Basic Grey's Offbeat Collection and the textured dark blue card stock is Prism Prismatics which I picked up from PaperWorksCo. Since this week's challenge over at Scrap-Creations is Anything Goes (as long as you use something from Basic Grey), I'll be submitting this card as my entry.

A few more Mother's Day cards

back with still more Mother's Day cards.

I was inspired by this card at Chris Olsen's blog to make four VERY similar cards - three of which became Mother's day cards.


On this one I used the Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendant and border (as well as the Nestabilities Squares).

This one uses the Spellbinders Fair Isle Pendant and Border (as well as the Nestabilities Squares).

And on this one I used the Spellbinders Contemporary Hearts Pendant and Border (with the Nestabilities Petite Circles).

The fourth card is not quite finished yet but will become a birthday card. I will post it when it finally gets completed.

The DP is Basic Grey Euphoria and has been matted on either Baby Pink or Lilac Mist CTMH Cardstock.

The ribbon was coloured with my Copic Markers to get a match to the lilac mist cardstock (kind of a bluey-lilac colour -- looks more blue in the photo however).

The first two cards have very tiny self-adhesive half pearls and rhinestones as accents. The last card has some baby pink flowers from my stash as accents.

For My Sister

Hi everybody,

back again with another of my Mother's day cards. This is one I made for my younger sister.

The designer papers and flowers are from a card kit I got at Scrappin Great Deals (so I'm not sure who makes the papers). The Taffy cardstock is from CTMH.


The stamped image is "A lollipop for Susan" by Sarah Kay from Stampavie. It has been coloured with Prismacolor pencils in colours picked up from the two DPs I used.


The layout is courtesy of this week's challenge at the Pixie Cottage, which also included the theme of flowers. So, as you can see, one of my DPs has flowers and I used two very pretty flowers to embellish the card.

For Mom

back today with a  card I made during the Crop for The Cure for my Mom for Mother's day - making this a perfect card for this week's Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - A Celebration for Mom's.

The flower image is from the Stamp Barn (CHSH 363 M) and I picked it up at Heather's Stamping Haven.
I coloured it with my Copics (YG63, YG67, G12, Y11, R20, RV32 and RV34). Actually, I coloured two of these images and then cut out pieces of the second image to layer on the first with foamies, giving a multi-dimensional look to the flower. I am not sure if that comes across very well in the photo.


The sentiment is from Verve's "Because of You" set and is stamped on a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Ten die cut.


The papers are, yes, yet again, those Basic Grey Euphoria papers I picked up from PaperWorksCo.


The layout is from the Cheers and Challenges Eclectic Ensemble CCEE1017 sketch, but I flipped it to accommodate my sentiment (it just wasn't working upright).


Since this week's challenge at Totally Stampalicious is all about flowers and flowers are also the theme for this week's Alota Rubber Stamps Challenge - I think I might just have to submit this card as my entry.

Jenn's Workshop at the Crop for the Cure

hope you are all having a wonderful day. I'm having a difficult time getting moving today. I think I am still zonked from the Crop for the Cure yesterday. I took this picture of the project we made during Jenn's workshop and then promptly mimicked my cats by taking a nap in the middle of the floor. I only woke up when I heard my washing machine buzz that it had finished!

Isn't this a FABULOUSLY creative idea? Your own, customizable hand-made whiteboard from a 10x12 borderless frame! The spot that I have water-marked is intended to hold a 4x6 photo. The "notepaper" strip is intended to be your list area. The "ledger edged"  square at the bottom would hold important things to remember. Just use your everyday dry-erase markers on the glass to make your notes.


The cool thing is that this would be so easy to customize. You could make seasonal backgrounds, themed backgrounds, coordinate with your decorating style. Anything goes! I definitely envision any photos of people getting "doodled" upon though.


Now to choose a picture to put in my whiteboard! I'm planning on keeping mine in my craft room with my "need to make a card for" list written on it. I'm also betting that I have lots of friends and family who would love to have something like this.

Another long day

......


but boy was it fun!

It was our annual Crop for the Cure today and what a nice way to spend the first Saturday in March. I will have pictures over the next few days of what I made at the crop. I stuck to cards this year instead of scrap-booking and have a few finishing touches to make on some of the cards - after all it is impossible to remember to bring EVERYTHING you could possibly need.

I only managed to get signed up for one of the workshops this year - the sign up sheets filled so fast! But I did make one super duper cool project designed by the fabulous Jenn! It will be the star project from my Crop for the Cure posts.

I think the highlight of the day was a visit from Jenn's little Ava. She popped by late afternoon with her Daddy for a quick little visit and she was lighting up with smiles. Such a little doll.

Anyways....I am TOTALLY pooped and plan to relax tomorrow....put the finishing touches on those cards from today and try to put my craft room back together.

To everyone who is attending the Copic Certification here in Ottawa on Sunday - I know you will have a fabulous day - wish I was joining you but considering how tired I am right now, it is probably a good thing that I did not get in to the class.
