Viva La Verve - July Week 2

Hi folks,

Well, I didn't get to post this card yesterday because - gasp! - I was without internet at home for most of the day. AND...since our home phone is VOIP, no home phone. AND....I couldn't even tether through my cell phone because IT was mysteriously without cell connectivity! I eventually resorted to a short visit to Starbucks mid-afternoon for a short external world fix. Isn't that sad?

Anyways, here is the card I meant to share yesterday. It's a sympathy card for my brother and his family since they recently had to bid farewell to one of the four-legged members of their family. His beloved dog Misty had been with them for almost 14 years and I know that it pained him terribly to say goodbye to his devoted pooch.

Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge 219 with Miss Anya

Hi folks,

I made it into my craft room today - it was MUCH too hot to do anything outside here in Ottawa - to make this card for one of my nieces who has a birthday this week. The card went into the post shortly after I finished making it -  to Newfoundland - ExpressPost - again!

Yumi & Fumi Handmade Challenge #20

Mojo Monday 300

Hi folks,

Well, I had the best of intentions to make a bunch of cards with this week's Mojo Monday sketch (as it was a special anniversary celebration of their 300th sketch) but, as usual, I procrastinated and just managed to squeeze in one card that I made today. okay, it might not have been procrastination so much as being really busy with my gardening...and then recovering from the gardening!

Anyways, my great Uncle has a birthday coming up in the middle of this month and I figured I should get his card made now so I can get it off into the post in plenty of time. Here's the card I made for him using Mojo Monday Sketch #300.

I REALLY like this layout and absolutely plan to make more cards with this sketch. Maybe even a set of cards for my long planned card workshop for my Light the Night fund-raising campaign.

• finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base (you can't really see in the photo but the front panel is actually another layer of black card stock, cut 1/8 inch smaller than the card base, then popped up on dimensional foam. I find it adds a nice touch to have that extra layer in the card.

Yumi & Fumi Handmade Challenge #19

Hi folks,

Well, despite the fact that I am on vacay, I haven't found a lot of time to get busy in my craft room - I've been busy in my garden instead. But today I took a bit of a break from all the hard work and heat and ran a few errands and then spent a couple of fun hours in my craft room as I REALLY wanted to get a card made for the latest challenge over at Yumi & Fumi Handmade (since the deadline for submissions is tomorrow!). This week's challenge is to use Red, White, Blue and Kraft on your creation.

What do you think? Does it fit the bill? As a Canadian, I must admit that I struggle with the red, white and blue combo. Not because I'm anti-American or anything, I think I just find that the combo is a bit bold for me - hence the reason I used a lighter blue on my creation.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous day! Here in Canada it is our nation's birthday so it's a long weekend - mind you, I'm in the middle of a four-week break from work, so it is kind of just another day for me, except that my sweetie will be home with me. 

I spent last week picking up transplants for my garden and getting the annuals and perennials planted. Today I am hoping to tackle the vegetable garden. We shall see how that goes as yesterday I just avoided the entire project and went out for an afternoon motorcycle ride with my sweetie. I'm easily distracted .... <grin>!
