For my Great Uncle and Great Aunt

So Sunday turned out to be a bit busier for me for card-making than I had planned. During my Sunday phone call with my folks, my Mom could be heard in the background telling my Dad "Tell Sheena that your Uncle Arthur's birthday is on the 17th and Aunt Marie will be 90 a few days later!"

So, up to craft room after dinner to quickly turn out a couple of simpler cards than the other two I made earlier in the day.

This is my great uncle's card.


I do like the muted colours on this paper from an American Traditional Designs Earthtone paperpack I picked up ages ago.

I did a quick make on this card using the CTMH Just Because Card Kit and using the CTMH Originals Modern Gallery sketch from the idea book in the kit.

I hope they know that even though I am far away, I still think of them and remember the fun times growing up and playing at their cottage (or as we say in Nfld "cabin"). The cottage is still in the family - one of my Aunts has it now and has a tremendous garden there!

The Originals sketch book does come in handy when pressed for time for a sketch. I can't wait to get my Wishes book tomorrow!

Happy Birthday to my niece

One of my nieces has a birthday on July 18th - she will be 10 years old. This is her card, using Mismatch Ketto.



I used the Sweet Stop Sketch Saturday Sketch SSS12 .

Mismatch Ketto's outfit was paper-pieced and her crown was given a few jewels to bling it up. Her hair was coloured with prismacolor pencils and her face was distress ink. For the sentiment I rock and rolled with two different colours (picked up from the papers). I also managed to dig out my sewing machine to do a little stitching on this one.

Happy Birthday from Rupert

So after taking it exceptionally easy yesterday -- I think I was feeling a little under the weather due to a mild allergic reaction and had a TWO HOUR NAP in the middle of the afternoon, I got myself organized in terms of things I needed to do and this little card is the first of those tasks.



Isn't Rupert (from the Doodlefactory Line by StarvingArtistamps) cute? Those of you familiar with Rupert know that he is actually carrying a flower on the stamp but I switched that out for a nummy cupcake to make this into a birthday card for a friend of ours. Rupert is coloured with Prismacolor Pencils blended with Taltine. Dimensionals have been used to pop him up. The image panels were cut with a mix of small and large circle nestabilities.

This card actually works for a couple of card challenges this week. I am using this sketch from the Secret Craft Saturday Challenge. I decided that with the patterned paper I used for the background that I should keep the rectangular panel plain - I simply embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder that mimics the paper.

And since this is a BIRTHDAY card, it is also great for the Whimsy Stamps Challenge this week to make something for a birthday!

The Greeting Farm has done it again!

Just when I had resolved to control my "I must have EVERYTHING" compulsion, The Greeting Farm goes and does it again. Check out Laddie Ian .

I mean, with a dearly beloved whose last name begins with "Mc" how can I NOT get this adorable little guy. That settles it, I have to take the 15th off from work so I can order this cutie AS SOON AS he goes into the store.

Now I have to practice my tartan colouring skills.....hmmm, dress tartan or hunt tartan? Trust me, I already know. HUNT tartan as the dress one is primarily a golden yellow!
