Growing old

Hi there! Are you enjoying your weekend yet...ready for the Trick or Treaters?

Today's card is one I made for one of my dearly beloved's friends. They have been friends since college (25 years plus) and still play D&D every other Friday. So...you can probably guess why I chose this sentiment for the card....



I used the CPS 139 sketch for the card layout.

Yummy - Core'Dinations chocolate box! How can you resist the urge to emboss this paper? You can't so pull out your favourite embossing folders and crank those handles!

For this card, I used my Cuttlebug Ornaments Embossing Folder to create the detailed background for the front of this card - gave it a light sanding with an emery board to let the pretty colour peek through.

Did you notice that tab (yes, I have a new toy) on the fold-over on the right inside of the card? A detachable bookmark that proves you don't need another expensive tool in your craft room - a simple tracing wheel works wonders (especially when used on your scor-pal instead of a bone folder).

I'm sure I'll be giving this card to someone to whom I gift a book at Christmas this year.

I should mention that the stamped Christmas ornaments on the front of the card use the second generation stamping technique - the stamp is inked up, stamped off onto scrap paper and the residual ink is used to stamp the image you actually want to use.

A Jolly Fold - By Golly

Yes I know, if you frequent my blog you have seen this fold plenty of times before. But you've never seen it with such a fun mix of Christmas papers - all from the October PaperCard Kit from PaperWorksCo .



Even my dearly beloved commented that he REALLY liked the papers - the colours on the striped piece in particular appealed to him. Personally, I like the pinwheels I punched to decorate the revealed edge from inside the card. They just say "fun fun fun" to me.

This fold and layout comes from the December 2008 layout from Sheetload of Cards.

A Joyful Tree

Hi there, back again! As it turns out - my dear friend Jackie and I did not paper-craft tonight. We ate dinner, had some wine and caught up on our respective woes. Just as therapeutic as paper-crafting. So, it turns out that I do have some time now to write a little blurb or two about one of my cards for today's post at PaperWorksCo featuring the October PaperCard Kit.



This one is my take on Clean and Simple. I embossed the pale creamy Prism Cardstock with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes folder. The christmas tree was stamped directly onto one of the patterned papers in the kit - the green side of the "Play Day" paper from Cosmo Cricket's Jolly by Golly Collection. The trunk onto Core'Dinations paper.

And then I let my tree decorating proclivities get the better of me -- no sparkly gemstone was safe! My own Christmas tree, artificial for reasons that will soon be obvious, runs somewhere between 2500 and 3000 white lights. Seriously. You need sunglasses to actually look directly at the tree! So....I dipped pretty heavily into the gemstones from the kit to embellish my paper tree to give it the same sparkle as my own tree!

A Triple Play at PaperWorksCo

Hi there...just a quick post as I thought I should mention that I have not one, not two, but three cards posted today over at the PaperWorksCo blog .

A Tweet Card for a real Tweetie

Hi there.....so today I am sharing with you the card I made for the fabulous Jenn for her birthday. Does anyone else out there have a difficult time making cards for fellow card-makers? Well, imagine my predicament! Making a card for the uber-talented Jenn....eep! What to do? What do do?

Well, I kept it simple. This is it.....



I pulled out one of my favourite sets - Verve's Birthday Surprise and made use of this week's Mojo Monday sketch (I know...I made the card AFTER Jenn's actual birthday...bad me...but you would not believe how much I hemmed and hawed over what to do before deciding I liked this sketch).

The patterned papers are again from the Basic Grey Cupcake line.....I think I'll be hitting up the store at PaperWorksCo to try to score another of these stacks of paper. Yummo! And yes, that is the Autumn Terracotta card stock from CTMH...again. What can I say, I love that colour! I may be running out of it though.....must check and restock if necessary!

First off...a big big thank you to Tanya for letting me know that I had some spammed comments on the post from earlier today.....grrrr....spam.....They have been removed. I hope no one out there followed any of the links. grrrr....spam.

Second .... because of the spammed comments I am now enabling comment moderation which means more work for me but less crap for readers to have to endure (and saves ME cleaning up). But at least now I will know that someone has commented when they leave a legitimate comment.
