Another teen birthday

Hi folks,

today I have another card made for another "new to the teens" daughter of my dear friend.

I actually made the card a couple of weeks ago when I made her sister's card - yes, they both turned thirteen, two weeks apart and no, they are not twins. Trust me -- their Mom and I had lots of fun with that when they were infants and we went shopping with them in the double side-by-side stroller. People would come up and go "Twins!" and then double-take when they saw the girls....who were obviously not twins! Still makes me giggle when I think about it.

Anyways, enough reminiscing, on to the card details.

Another card set

Okay so I wasn't entirely creative - this set is exactly like the previous one with the exception of the supplies used.  This time:

• CTMH Grace papers
• CTMH Moonstruck and Cocoa inks
• the buttons were cream this time instead of yellow
  

Otherwise, everything was the same. I guess I really like the sketch and this will become one of my "fall to" sketches. Yes - you can bet there will be Christmas cards made with this sketch!

So, ten of the cards went to the birthday girl as a set, one was her birthday card and one is in my stash!

Back to crafting

Hi folks,

Well, I sequestered myself in the craft room tonight and churned out fourteen cards. Two of them looked like this:

I will be giving this one to my project leader at work for his birthday on January 7th.

I used Sketch 27 from Tuesday Morning Sketches for the layout and the papers are CTMH Stardust. I tried something a little different with this card and used white cardstock as my mats. Still trying to decide if I like it or not. But, I needed a quick masculine card and I think this works. And now I have another one for my stash exactly like it!

The other twelve cards I made are like the card set I made earlier this week - only I  used CTMH Grace papers instead. I'll try to do a quick post later this week with those cards.

I should be crafting

but I'm worn out from fruitlessly looking for Disney figurines to decorate a birthday cake for a friend's about to be three years old daughter. Can you believe that

• Toys R Us
• WalMart
• PartyMart or
• The Bulk Barn

HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I COULD USE! And the clock is ticking!!! My next stop is Hallmark, The Superstore and possibly the comic book store...or maybe I can raid the toy box at someone else's house!

So instead of making cards, I spent tonight visiting some of my favourite crafty bloggers and saw this post over at Tanya's blog.

I just had to share this post I first saw on Facebook. The link above is to the Spellbinders Blog announcement. I was one of the lucky winners in their last big giveaway when they announced the new nesties combos. I won the labels combo and distributed them to three crafty pals as I already had all four of the dies in the set.

Sweet Home Card Set

Hi there,

so it is time for another card set. One of my co-workers had a birthday on December 31st. I honestly thought it wasn't until January 1st so I will be giving this to her late. On January 4th.

I decided to use this week's sketch from KL Stampin N Scrappin Blog for all of the cards I made in the set, ten of them, plus the card for the recipient and an extra for my stash. Twelve cards total. I was a busy card-maker this weekend. I made fourteen on Sunday (finished this set in the DARK in a power outage!) and eleven on Saturday.

Anyways, here is the card set!

I used papers from the Sweet Home collection by Close To My Heart. The buttons and ribbon were from my stash.

And some of my favourite "generic" images from a couple of Close To My Heart Stamp sets. Just Because and Celebrate the Everyday. The sentiment panels were cut out using my Spellbinders Nestabilities Small and Large Petite Ovals.

I kept the cards identical except for switching up the ink colours on the images and sentiments. Indian Corn Blue and Garnet (the birthstone for January coincidentally).

I hope my co-worker likes them and can put them to good use!

And these were the last two cards - one will be her birthday card and one will go into my stash.

I SHOULD have another card set to show you soon. The wife of another coworker is turning fifty on January 5th and  I am hoping to find the time today to whip up another pretty coordinated set like this for her. I will probably keep it simple like this set and hope that she likes my paper choices.

Viva la Verve...and my Dad

Hi folks,

decided to tackle some of the birthday cards that I need for this week. First up, my Dad's birthday card since I am going to have to express post this to him as his birthday is on January 7. He is going to be 59!!! Now, he is still at sea and is not expected back in until after his birthday - so there will be a big party I imagine when he gets home as he also missed Christmas and New Year's ... again.

I also made another card almost identical to this one....going to try heeding my dearly beloved's advice to make multiples of my cards so I will have some on hand if life unexpectedly gets in the way of some needed crafting time. So....this is the extra card I now have for my stash:

I used the first Viva la Verve challenge sketch for 2010 for the card layout and some REALLY old papers from my stash. I think these were among some of the first papers I ever got (from Costco about two years ago).

On my Dad's card, the metallic papers is embossed with a star pattern, on my spare there is a flower pattern. Not sure how well that shows up in the photos.

Anyways, I made good use of one of my favourite Verve Stamp Sets - Birthday Surprise and then added the Dad sentiment from another set (unknown manufacturer) and the present from CTMH's Good Times. I'll be stalking the postie this week - I got my email yesterday from Verve saying that my latest order is on it's way! Yippee!
