Lounging by the pool

Hi folks

Well, amidst all the hub-bub in our house (turns out dearly beloved broke a finger last night playing volleyball and it was an interesting adventure getting it set properly today. Men can be SO stubborn!), I managed to make this card for my dearly beloved's sister who has a birthday early next week.

Since she just had a pool installed this summer, I thought "Swimming Lucy" from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps would be perfect for her card. Lucy is coloured with Copic Markers (YR14, YR04, YR02, Y11, E11, E00, RV10, YG11, BG10, E35, E31, E39) and cut out with my Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circle (sm).

Not sure how well you can see in this picture but these papers from the My Mind's Eye Home Collection are all sparkly.

I  hope she likes the card!

Playing along with PWCO Sunday Sketch 43

Hi folks

well, Day 2 of my week off from work found it hard for me to peel my butt off the couch. I went out yesterday and saw "Eclipse" with a friend of mine - and wouldn't you know it at 6am this morning the movie network aired Twilight followed by New Moon...so, I watched them - again. Followed by another movie "Swing Vote" - a light comedy but hey...I'm on vacation and so is my brain!


I did get around to making a card today for my dearly beloved's niece who has her sixth birthday this weekend. I think I have reached critical mass in my craft room though and tomorrow I will ATTEMPT to tidy up.....maybe ... I think I spent more time looking for supplies than I did making the card. When that happens, it is definitely time to tidy up! Plus, I HAD wanted to do some quilting while I was off.....so...I NEED to tidy.


Anyways, on to the card!

The image is "Angelica's Heart Socks" from Inky Impressions - I won this as part of a blog candy a while back and this is the first time I've had a chance to ink  her up. Isn't she pretty? I can so see using her on cards for friends or for thinking of you cards.

I coloured the image with Copic Markers (V17, V15, G21, C3,Y23, Y21,Y11, E31, E00, E000, B21), cut it out and the mounted it on the panels that were cut with Spellbinders dies (Blossom and Large Petite Circles).

Those pretty patterned papers are Doodlebug and were in the June PaperCard Kit from PaperWorksCo. The June kit is no longer available but you can always pick up the current kit here.

The Key Lime Cardstock is CTMH and the paper flower and brad are from my stash.

Did you notice the sketch? Yep, I've been doing well lately with playing along with the Sunday Sketch at PWCO (you can link to the Sunday Sketch post on my sidebar).

Anyways, that's it for me for today. I'm going to head back downstairs now and have some of Danielle's Zucchini Bread which she so generously shared with me today! Yummmmmmmm.

An anniversary card

Hi folks (second post for today so feel free to check out my earlier post!)

So I am apparently one heck of a procrastinator when I know I won't be seeing someone for a while and I have a reason to make a card for them. My cousin and his wife had their wedding anniversary on July 3rd and I have not yet had a chance to see either of them ... so I am just now getting around to making them a card.


While poking through one of the piles of more recently purchased craft items, I came across the early summer release Cuttlebug folders that I had picked up from PaperWorksCo a while back (yes, unopened, in a pile for two months). The Scrollwork embossing folder caught my eye as a good one to put to use on this card so I went poking around on SplitCoastStampers to see if I might find some inspiration. And, of course, I did in this card by TheatreDiva.


Here's where my inspiration led (the card uses the sketch from the Viva la Verve June Week 4 challenge but none of the inspiration photos for paper choices).

The card base is CTMH Chocolate, embossed with the Cuttlebug Scrollwork folder and then lightly sanded. The DP is from the Bo Bunny Persuasion line - the pink cardstock is Bazzill Smoothies. The ribbon is from the chocolate stack by CTMH. The flower is from Prisma.


The stamped sentiment is from Verve's Wishing You set and was cut out using my Spellbinders Small and Large Labels.

Another Verve Card

Hi folks,

Boy it has been a long time since I last ventured into my craft room. I have a simple card - once again featuring Verve's Wishing You sentiment set as this card is for another of my Uncles.

I pulled out some older paper from my stash (Stampin' Up Maine Blueberry Designer Collection), some CTMH New England Ivy card stock (and ink) and CTMH Outdoor Denim Buttons. I like this paper pack for masculine cards - it has a nautical feel to me with the blues and green.

I cut out the sentiment panel with my Spellbinders Labels One dies. I did my order this morning and TRIED to behave given the recent big toy purchase. I think I only ordered seven of them but so easily could have ordered about a dozen or so...oh, and the new Cuttlebug release can be found here in case you have not seen it yet.

A good sale on ribbon at Fabricland and goodies from Colorbök

Hi folks,

no crafty creations from me tonight - I just wanted to pass along to my local crafty peeps what I think was a good deal that I happened upon at Fabricland today (specifically the one at Baseline/Merivale) but I think it is a sale that is on at all of the Fabriclands.

I stopped in because I saw a notice at the Kanata Fabricland that they were soon no longer going to redeem their stamp cards - and I had accumulated enough purchases on mine to get $20 off a purchase. So I figured I had better stop in soon and pick up some notions I could in my craft room - either for sewing or card-making.

Well, they had their hanks of double-sided satin ribbon on sale for 50% off -- and an additional 20% off as they were already reduced. So I picked up these 20 hanks of ribbon, 10 of them are 1 inch and 10 of them are 5/8 inch.

And what did I pay for this huge pile of ribbon? A little over $9....with the discount  (50% plus 20%) the ribbon came to $26...minus my $20 stamp card credit.....$6 plus HST (on the $26 amount). Giddy-up! as one of my coworkers would say. I'm going to have to hone my bow-tying skills and make some fancy-schmancy bows on my upcoming cards.

So I was feeling pretty good when I got home in light of this bargain and then I saw the BIG BOX waiting at the front door! SQUEAL!!!! Could it be? Goodies for me? You betcha!

Flipping for PWCO Sunday Sketch 42

Well, today I attended a Pampered Chef Bridal Shower Party for a friend of mine. Yesterday I realized that the guests were asked to bring the bride and groom a favourite recipe to start then on their happy journey together.


Oops! I've known for weeks about the party but this little detail kind of slipped my mind. So, I asked dearly beloved which of my recipes I should bring. Since it was a Pampered Chef party, he suggested I bring my biscotti recipe since I actually use one of one my Pampered Chef Stoneware pans EXCLUSIVELY for making this biscotti. And, according to dearly beloved, it is the most "awesomest" biscotti ever. He pretty much refuses to share it with anyone - works for me. I'm not a HUGE fan once it has had the second baking. I like the endy bits only - and only after the first baking.


So, I couldn't just leave it on a plain old recipe card - I wanted to do something a little different from what everyone else would bring. And besides, my recipe won't fit on just one card. I printed it up and it actually took four. I wound up making this....

The front of the recipe uses this week's sketch from PaperWorksCo (I flipped it). The papers and stamped image are both from CTMH. Attached with the binder ring are two more pages.....with the four cards for the recipe.

The binder ring makes it easy to flip the pages for the recipes AND I figure that if they want to, the bride and groom can add more cookie recipes to this little "mini-book" that starts with my favourite biscotti recipe.
