A few MORE cards for Easter

Hi folks, another quick post for tonight (to my sweetie - if you are reading this....close it now...no peeking since once of these cards is for you!)

While I was making the cards in the previous post, I decided to put together three more since I had the images coloured and the papers out anyway.

card details:
  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey "Hopscotch" (card3), My Mind's Eye Lime Twist "Life of the Party" (cards 1 and 2)
  • stamps: Verve "Bunny Shake""Egg-stra Special". The images are all coloured with Copics. The brown bunny is coloured with E21, E23, E25. The white bunny is coloured with W00, W0. The chick in the egg is coloured with W0, W00, Y38, Y00, Y02, Y04, Y06. Oh...and the bunnies have white Fun Flock from CTMH on their tails...you probably can't see that in the photos.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope your weekend is turning out to be fabulous!

Viva La Verve - April Week 1

Hi folks,

I managed to get into the craft room today to work on a few more Easter cards. I decided to use the sketch from Week 1 of the April Viva La Verve Challenges over at Splitcoaststampers.

Another fairly clean and simple layout! My kind of style...worked out great for making four more Easter cards with some new (to me) Verve!

I kept the first three with a portrait oreintation, switching up the papers and stamps so they would each be different.

And for the last one, I switched to a landscape orientation.

If you if you click on one of the chocolate bunny cards to "embiggen" the picture, you might notice the texture of his fur. I achieved this with a neat trick I learned from Tanya - putting some Copic Colorless blender solution on a terry cloth and holding it for a few seconds on the image after it has been coloured.

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: Basic Grey "Hopscotch" (cards 1 and 4), My Mind's Eye Lime Twist "Life of the Party" (cards 2 and 3)
  • stamps: Verve "Bunny Shake", "Egg-stra Special". The images are all coloured with Copics. The brown bunny is coloured with E21, E23, E25. The white bunny is coloured with W00, W0. The chick in the egg is coloured with W0, W00, Y38, Y00, Y02, Y04, Y06.

Masculine birthdays for Mojo 234

hi folks!

first off -- I am so excited I need to shout it from the rooftops! I was the big winner for the March Viva La Verve challenges over at SCS!!!! Woo hoo!!!!! A $100 shopping spree for my fave stamps for clean and simple, no colouring required cards! Shut the front door! I'm really hoping I don't have to spend it right away because, honestly, I topped up my "collection" a couple of months ago and I might have a hard time spending it all right now. I know, sad situation to be in huh?   :)  who am I kidding? LOVE IT!!!!!

And, speaking of Verve - guess what stamps I used on my cards for the Mojo Monday challenge this week? Yeah, no need to guess. VERVE!!!!

So...here's the Mojo Monday sketch this week....round or square....I went with square of course.

And made these two masculine birthday cards for a couple of birthdays next week

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches square, one card has CTMH Cocoa cardstock base, the other has kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers and brads: Bo Bunny Cambridge (which, if I am not mistaken, found their way into my collection courtesy of my dear friend Tanya)

The last sketch for the month is a CAS sketch:

And three where I flipped the sketch to landscape:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft cardstock base
  • patterned papers: October Afternoon "Very Merry"

Viva La Verve March Week 3

Hi folks,

Up first is the week 3 sketch

Since I am ALSO behind on Easter cards, I decided I had better use this sketch to finally get  few made. So I did three cards

Happy Unbirthday

Hi folks,

Well, it's been a few days but I am back again with a card for the last of March Madness Challenges over at The Greeting Farm. This week's theme was "Mad About Tea Parties". From the TGF blog:

Create a card or project that is tea party related. Think Alice in Wonderland-ish/ Coffee/ Hot Cocoa, Mad Hatter, even a Get-well card /w tea..think as much or as little beyond the 'cup and saucer' as you wish!

Hmmmmm.....an excellent opportunity to do another card which has been sitting in the back of my head for some time now ... "unbirthday" card! Those of you familiar with the movie "Alice in Wonderland" will probably remember the scene where Alice stumbles upon the "unbirthday" tea party.

Well, using the "Twisted Tea" digi from The Greeting Farm, I came up with this card

I went for a dramatic colour palette, the black/white/shades of grey with the intense reds for her hair and cake decorations. Kind of reminiscent of the Red Queen maybe?

I took my inspiration for the sentiment from an illustration in a very old comic book by Walt Disney called "Unbirthday Party with Alice in Wonderland". It's computer generated except for the M which is from one of my CTMH alphabet sets.

card details:

  • finished size: 5.5 x 5.5 inches, black card stock base
  • patterned paper: some REALLY old CTMH. If I am not mistaken, this is among some of the first papers I bought from CTMH many, many moons ago, back when I first got in to making cards
  • digital image: Twisted Tea from The Greeting Farm, coloured with Copic Markers (C00, C0, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, C9, R22, R24, R27, R29, R35, R37, R39, R56, R59). By way of explanation about the reds, I originally started with the R2x series but didn't like the brighter colour so I layered the others on top, to get a bluer red, well kind of burgundy really.
  • black, white and burgundy ribbon from my stash
  • gems from my stash.
  • Spellbinders Wonky Rectangles

additional challenges for this card:

So that's it for the March Madness challenges. Wish me luck! oh....for those of you who may not know what the March Madness challenge were all about..... here's the deets from the TGF blog:

For the local crafty peeps

For the local folks who like to get crafty - is anyone interested in a get-together at the hall in Constance Bay? Jenn has a contact who organizes all day crops. Potluck lunch, nominal fee to cover cost of hall rental. Comment/message if interested, with dates you are available if you are interested.

And really, though we all love our significant others/kids/pets - sometimes we need a break AWAY from them to really get crafty!

We're thinking about a little get-together because our usual May "Crop for the Cure" won't be held this year and we both are feeling the NEED to get crafty with some like-minded folks.
