Happy Birthday Newton!

The youngest of our two cats - Newton - will be one year old on January 8 2009. I am a crazy cat lady so yes, he has a nice birthday present, will get a special birthday meal and of course, his own birthday card. I used the CPS sketch challend #98 for the layout (seen here http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2009/01/blog-candy.html).

Anyone who knows our unique little Newton would know that the image I used here (from Inkadinkado's Cattitude) is SOOO Newton. His eyes are closely set so he has a perpetually almost cross-eyed look about him. We have several nick-names for him. Sweetums because his fur is always tousled making him look like Sweetums from the muppets. Noodle because he's not really living up to the Newton moniker. Cheezburger (if you've ever seen the LOL cats...that's our Newton on so many levels).

But most of all, he is adored and loved - even when he wakes me up at 2:00am because he wants to cuddle by lying across my neck with his belly and legs in the air for belly-scratches, purring like an outboard motor. Dearly beloved just sleeps through it unless Newton starts to lick his lips!

2S4U - Bonus sketch AND Verve Stamps Lookin For Love Colour Challenge

Phew, was that a long title or what? Guess that's what I get for combining two challenges in one. First, the bonus card sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You at http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2009/01/kazans-sketch-17.html

and second, the colour challenge from Verve Stamps Lookin for Love Release challenge. The colour challenge was to use Riding Hood Red, Blush Blossom and Kraft. I substituted CTMH Cranberry and Taffy respectively, while keeping the Kraft as my card base and the tag (from the 2S4U card sketch).

I just love the Happy Everything sentiment. It says it all. I think this card will go to a friend who celebrates her birthday on January 16th.

Crafting Companion - Part Two

Tonight's companion - Packet. He was rather insistent on lying down on the supplies I had just taken out to make a card. The prone picture was taken first. In the sitting up photo - and slightly annoyed about being made to move, you can see the card and tag I had taken out. Sadly, I don't think I will get to the card. Maybe tomorrow. Depends on whether or not either of the two kitties comes to the craft room again.

My Card Making Companions

Well, one of them at least. Newton has two favourite sleeping spots in my craft room - when he is allowed in that is. This is him doing what cats do best - sleeping. He seems to like to curl up near my feet - where he runs the risk of getting smucked in the face by the office chair wheels.

Packet stayed downstairs sleeping on the couch while my dearly beloved played video games - until he heard me moving about to photograph tonight's cards. Now he is here in the craft room, sitting behind my laptop, sticking his pointy beak into the container with the new cards. I think he wants my attention. Time to "Packet" in for the night...tee hee.

2 Sketches 4 you - Kazan's Sketch 17

So this is my attempt at this sketch challenge posted on 2 Sketches For you at http://2sketches4you.blogspot.com/2009/01/kazans-sketch-17.html

I picked up some super funky, totally psychedelic flowery paper this weekend and thought it might look cool for a card made with this sketch. Well.....this is what I came up with. Electic Blue Funkalicious Flowers. Papers and punch letters are from an ATD Wildflowers Paper Stack. Chipboard flowers are K&Company.

Loved the 2nd sketch on the site today as well but, it's getting close to packing it in time so maybe I can get to it tomorrow night!

My Dad's Birthday card

So Dad's birthday is on January 7. Again this year, he is at sea through Christmas and his birthday. I did get to speak to him on Christmas day, VERY briefly. Satellite phones in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean aren't very reliable so our conversation lasted all of 1 minute and 31 seconds. The card uses SCS challenge #200. Perfect for those three letter words! I used Cosmo Cricket chipboard letters that were a christmas present from Chrissy and Kendrick - crafty presents rock!

Love You - OCC Sketch Challenge

This is my SECOND card for today using the same paper. How cool is that? Anywhoooo.....loved the sketch over at OCC http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/2009/01/occ-sketch-challenge.html and just had to participate with this card. My dearly beloved will get this card either in his lunch this week or, if I can resist, I'll keep it for him for when he heads to Vancouver in a couple of weeks. I suspect he will get it in his lunch tomorrow! Patience is NOT one of my virtues.

Fiskars border punch for the border details. Cosmo Cricket chipboard heart. CTMH Hearthrob stamp set. Basic Grey fibres. CTMH glitter on the flourishes. Paper....I honestly don't know. It's from my stash!
