Finally a card post

I made this card for a {younger} co-worker who celebrated his birthday Friday by taking the day off. So our at work cupcake celebration courtesy of yours truly was postponed until Monday.

The sketch is from the Verve Stamps April Release Challenges. I used sketch VSAPR2, turned on its side. The image is from Inkadinkado. I had to do something rude and funny for him and since I have not yet mounted my new Doodlefactory stamps on EZ-Mount (it just came today in one of those lovely bubble envelopes we all love to get), this one had to do. The papers -- not sure. I've used them before and think they are from an assorted box I got at Costco eons ago.

Hoping to get to more crafting in the next few days as I am once again chained with a pager. Have come to the sad realization that my next several weekends are already booked.

This weekend - stuck on call so don't really plan much of anything.

Next weekend - May 2nd is Jenn's big Crop for the Cure day. Which reminds me I have to get organized with photos for the album I plan to work on.

Following weekend - on call again. Grrrr.

Week after That - is the May TwoFour weekend (yes, it is only May 15th but what the hey, that's Canada for you). I'm redoing my motorcycle training course to extend my M2 another 5 years since it expires June 20 and there is NO way I am ready for an exit exam after only being on a bike as a driver maybe twice since I got the license. Broken toes kind of scared me off for a long time.

Week after That - back on call again.

By then....we're almost June and I suspect there will be planting still going on in the garden!

Phew....I'll be ready for a Vacation!

Why things never go as planned

Our two fur babies are quite insistent on getting comfy where THEY want to get comfy. Packet is all about the cuddle spot. If dearly beloved is gaming, then Packet has to be on the recliner part of the couch. It is HIS spot. Newton, on the other hand, is all about the amount of real estate he can occupy. If he can touch BOTH of his hoomins, all the better. And he was until I got up to take this picture. This was Friday night.



Saturday morning, MY lap. Notice the laptop has been pushed out of IT's normal position?

Packet insinuated his way in first. Then Newton had to crowd in as well. MMM hmmm...we stay here. You no go anywhere --- unless you are getting us treaties. There was flannel. They love flannel.


Later that day after retail therapy, pizza and a nap. These two decided my lap was still their favourite spot.


How could I possibly get up to craft with these two cuddled in for the long run? So...only one card got made this weekend. Late on Sunday night. I'll get around to posting it on Monday I imagine.

Super Excited

Yippee!!!!!! So, if you saw my post earlier this week about the Anya blog hop and hopped around and checked out all the other cool projects you would have come across Kim Nath's blog . Well, Kim did some truly AWESOME Anya and Ian projects. Of course, I let her know how cool I thought everything in her post was and guess what - I won a cute Elf Anya!

Eeep! This news totally rocks since I took the day off and did not get to ANY stamping even though all my new Greeting Farm and Doodlefactory stamps were calling. Not to mention the Verve Stamps release week challenges. I expect I may hibernate in the craft room tomorrow since my body will likely protest all the cleaning, painting and yard work that was crammed into my day. Sad news is, dearly beloved was not pleased with the painting so now all the baseboards are going to have to be sanded and repainted ... AGAIN! Oh the glamourous life I lead.

Not one, But Two

I was tickled today when dearly beloved came back from our community mailbox...he had two of those lovely bubble envelopes in hand! Yippee......goodies (and by goodies I mean STAMPS, STAMPS and more STAMPS) from the Greeting Farm and Starving Artist Stamps.

So, with me having a self-induced three day weekend starting tomorrow and tons of cards I need to make, I am GOING to squeeze in some play time between the house cleaning, painting and (maybe) yardwork.

VSAPR3 - Happy Birthday

Verve Stamps is holding another week of challenges .

Conveniently, I need to make a few cards! This is my interpretation of VSAPR3. CTMH papers and a Verve Stamp for the sentiment!

The card has already been given away to my coworker's girlfriend. She's a sweetie and was the recipient of the previous post (Geisha Anya Gift Bag) as well. The papers for the card were chosen to coordinate with the gift bag.

Now to decide what to do for the other four challenges!

Anya Blog Hop

Hey there everyone who is hopping by as part of the Club Anya Blog Hop. My Anya post for tonight does not really fit one of the judged categories but I had this little project in mind for a co-worker's girlfriend's birthday. She's a crafty person too and I am fairly certain she will like this! A departure for me - it is not a card!



Geisha Anya adorns a little gift bag I cut out with my Cricut Expression. Even the panels were cut with my Cricut. I played around with the Cricut Design Studio software to manipulate the images to just the size I wanted and presto....there you have it. A cute little gift bag. If anyone would like to have the cut file, drop me a line and I will find a way to share it with you!

The papers are all CTMH (don't you think they look GREAT with Geisha Anya?) as are the inks. Geisha Anya's hair is a separate layer, inked with Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder. A little white gel pen was used to redraw her hair-lines. Her face was coloured with watercolour pencils. The kanji symbol and english phrase I thought went just perfectly with Geisha Anya.

The brads serve a structural as well as decorative purpose. I don't trust just adhesive tape runner to keep my bags together so I decided to toss on a few strategically placed brads for extra security.
