Viva La Verve - August Week 2

Hi folks,

I managed to grab an hour in the craft room this weekend to play along with the Viva La Verve August Week 2 Sketch challenge over on Splitcoaststampers (and yes, if you are keeping track I have not yet had a chance to do my card for the Week 1 Sketch).

Here's the sketch:

And here is my card (I thought the sketch was perfect for a wedding card for my next door neighbour's daughter):

card details:

  • finished size: 5x5 inches, white card stock base, black and deep red card stock mats
  • patterned paper: Bo Bunny "Enchanted"
  • stamps: Verve "Love Story"
  • dies: Verve "Lovely Marquee", Verve "From the Heart", Spellbinders "Classic Rectangles"
  • adhesive gems from my stash (for anyone local, I got them from Pritchard Packaging for what I think was an awesome price. And yes, I bought a LOT of them - in every size they had.)

Yumi and Fumi Handmade Challenge #21 - Team Fumi

Hi folks,

Today I am sharing my Team Fumi creation for Challenge #21 over at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog.

Challenge #21 is an "Anything Goes" challenge and you have until this Friday to link up your challenge entries at the Y&FH challenge post here.

Don't forget - you can now use ANY stamped image!!! It has to be a coloured image - "sentiment only" cards won't be eligible to win. If you use a Y&FH image, your name will be added a maximum of 1 extra time after the last name in Inlinkz.

What's up for grabs? The winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to the Yumi & Fumi Handmade online store while the Top 3 will receive a 10% discount code to be used in the Yumi & Fumi Handmade online store. AWESOME!

So, here are my projects. Yes, you read that right. Projects. I could not help myself. I really wanted to use images from the Kimono Series and I could not decide between the two stamps that I had from that series (the other two arrived the day after I finished these two so you could have been seeing QUADRUPLE!)  - Yumi with Fan and Fumi with Gift.

I used the same layout for both cards, the August Sketch for You to Try from Reverse Confetti, taking a wee liberty with the Yumi card by changing the layering of the panels and flipping the sketch for the Fumi card.

The most handy tool for colouring these images was my white gelly roll pen from Sakura. I wanted to recreate the look of the kimono on the package for the Yumi stamp so, after colouring the images with my Copic markers,  I added the little dots with the gelly roll pen to Yumi's kimono and to Fumi's gift.

Be sure to check out the creations from the rest of Team Fumi - you can find their posts by navigating to them from the main post over at the Yumi and Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog or you can follow the list below

Showcase Thursday with Team Yumi

Hi folks,

It's Thursday so that means a member of Team Yumi is sharing something special over at Yumi and Fumi Handmade blog.

Today, Rosemary is sharing a VERY cool tutorial on how she colours gingham print on an image. Oh my goodness! That is something I am definitely going to try my hand at this weekend. If it turns out as nicely as hers did, I'll have to share.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

In honour of today's big news, I thought it only appropriate that I share a card (or two) featuring the iconic Yumi and Fumi from the Introducing Yumi and Fumi Series.

Yes - you are seeing double! If you are a frequent visitor, you know I like to build my stash of cards by making multiples of the same card, with just a few slight differences. So, while colouring up the image, I decided to colour it up two different ways to match the different mixes of the patterned papers. Which one do you like best? Personally, I rather like Fumi as a ginger! A different look for her don't you think? Oh, and I actually changed Yumi's hair colour on the first image. I started her out as a yellow blonde, didn't really like it when I finished, so coloured over the original hair colour with darker browns. I think the yellow low-lights actually add a bit of depth to the hair colour in real life.

card details:
  • finished size: 5x5 inches, white card stock base, CTMH Sorbet mats
  • patterned paper: Doodlebug Designs "Flower Box"
  • stamped image: "Yumi and Fumi" from the "Introducing Yumi and Fumi Series" by Yumi and Fumi Handmade. Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Copic Express paper. Coloured with Copic Markers. Here's the breakdown of the colours I used:
