Viva La Verve November 2013 Week 2

Hi folks,

I am definitely starting to panic about getting enough Christmas cards made for this year. So, since I STILL haven't packed away my gear from the crop I attended the first weekend of November, I grabbed the same papers I used for my Week 1 cards to make my Week 2 cards.

Tuesday Morning Sketches with Jess' College Fund Digi's

Hi folks,

It's a long weekend here in Canada and I did manage to scrape out a little craft room time to make this birthday card for a friend of ours. She is an avid photographer (here's a link to her photography business page on Facebook if you would like to check it out - beautiful shots of the local wildlife) and I thought this new image from Jess' College Fund Digi's would be perfect for her birthday card (though without glasses would have been better in this case).

I can't encourage you enough to stop by Jess' College Fund to check out the very reasonably priced digital images. I have all but one - the most recently released image since I have been crazy busy this weekend and haven't had time yet to purchase it. Will fix that later today!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base and mat (I've taken a liking to doing an extra mat in the same colour as my card base recently. Love the extra layer.). Brown textured card stock from Michael's for the mats.
  • patterned paper: Basic Grey "Sweet Threads"
  • digital image: Jess' College Fund "Jess Taking Pictures", coloured with Copic Markers (E000, E00, E01, E02, E93, E04, E43, E47, E49, E39, E29, E77, E25, YG0000, YG01, YG21, YG23, T4, T6, T8) with a little white gelly roll accent on the camera lens. I also sponged around the image with CTMH Blush ink to pick up on the pink in the papers. Yes, I DO have a Copic Airbrush and it DOES sit in one of the towers of my desk. I really should take it out and leave it ON my desk and plugged in so I can use it more often. sigh. Just call me Queen of the unused tools!
  • sentiment: Verve "Borderline"
  • Spellbinders Petite Ovals
  • paper flowers and embroidery floss from my stash
  • layout: Tuesday Morning Sketches #223 (oops - should have uploaded yesterday to meet the posting deadline!)

Viva La Verve November Week 1

Hi folks,

Well, the crunch is on. It is already November and I am really far behind on my Christmas card making for this year. So much so that I think I better start scheduling some serious time in my craft room to get a few more cranked out.

At last weekend's crop, I brought the Week 1 sketch for the November Viva La Verve challenge with the intention of making a batch of cards. I did six with that sketch - and here they are!

Of course, I'm a bit of an idiot. I decided I wanted to paper-piece the trees. I stamped them and proceeded to manually cut them out before I realized that I actually have the DIE for the trees as well. Could have saved myself some time if I had remembered that sooner rather than later!

I kept these cards very CAS as they will be going into the post and we all know what buttons and bling do to cards for mailing - it makes them cost a lot more!

Happy Thoughts

Hi folks,

Last weekend I attended a crop and, of course, there were a couple of vendors there. I always have to check out the supplies they have for sale to see if anything catches my eye. Patterned papers are absolutely my biggest weakness when it comes to crafting and the papers I used on this card definitely caught my eye. So much so that I bought the papers at the crop AND set to making this card right away!

Celebrating Again with Yumi & Fumi Handmade!

Hi folks!

Today we are celebrating another design team member birthday over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade blog! Hip! Hip! Hooray!

Big birthday wishes are going out today to Cebelica! Be sure to stop by and wish her a happy birthday! I am sure she will be touched to read your birthday wishes.

I have it on the down low that Cebelica's favourite colours are blue, pink and brown. So, I gave Summer Fumi a pink and blue outfit to pick up on the colours in the Basic Grey Marjolaine papers I chose (yep - if you look closely you can see the pale pink in the argyle print!). Of course, the browns come from the kraft card stock and the ink for the sentiment.

Hope you are having a fantastic birthday, Cebelica, and that you get to celebrate all month long!

Happy Holidays from Yeti Yumi - SC458

Hi folks!

I'm finally back on the wagon, getting a few more Christmas cards ready for the coming season. At the crop I attended on Friday, I got out my Copics and coloured up Yeti Yumi for this card:

I have to say, this one is a fave. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way that I can gift it to myself instead of giving it away to someone! My dearly beloved commented that it looked a LOT like a friend of mine so I'm thinking I AM going to have to give this one away to her.

A couple of reminders before I give you the card details:
  • You still have lots of time to link up your cards for the Hallowe'en Colours over at the Yumi & Fumi Handmade Challenge Blog
  • Yumi & Fumi Handmade now have a company gallery over at SplitCoastStampers. Click on through to check out the fabulous creations already in the gallery. If you are a member over at SCS and upload your Y&FH creations, be sure to tag them with yumifumi so we can check them out! We're looking forward to seeing the gallery of inspiration grow!

card details:

  • finished size: 4.25 x 5.5 inches, kraft card stock base, navy card stock mats
